    Hi! I am a rising high school senior and I just wanted to say thank you for your insightful videos into this field of healthcare. To be honest, I always wanted to go to medical school and become a doctor, but I now realize that there are non-clinical opportunities that are just as rewarding. Thank you so much.

    Hi! Great video! I work in revenue cycle in a hospital I started out as a registration rep patient access (registration) and worked my way up into a Director position before transitioning to corporate revenue cycle where I am a corporate Director today. I don’t know about sharing my salary but let’s just say that I have been very successful in my career and the base pay is about 115k (hospital director with experience) and I work for an organization who provides bonuses so it is a great career option revenue cycle is and you’re right you do not have to start out with a degree but to progress a degree is a requirement starting out at the manager role for the career path that I just described. I have a BS in MGMT with an AOE in SHRM and an MBA

    I have been a CNA/CMT for the last 5 years and something I have heard from a couple of people is that it’s hard to find health administration jobs if you aren’t a nurse. Do you believe this to be true?
    I feel like if you are good at what you do, it shouldn’t matter if you are a nurse or not. I do think that previous healthcare experience helps though.

    • @CourtneySharea
      @CourtneySharea  3 года назад +10

      It really depends on what career options within healthcare administration you are seeking. All of the jobs I've had in this field required extensive business operations, finance, accounting, revenue cycle management, and data analysis experience. If you are seeking out leadership nursing positions, then yes you would need to be a nurse. But positions like practice administrator, revenue cycle manager, business manager, health information manager, etc. do not require any clinical experience at all. HTH!

      I can agree! I have held my masters in health services administration degree since 2015 and here it is 2023 and I still can't get my foot in the door with this degree. I have 15 years of healthcare management experience in therapeutic recreation working in skilled nursing homes and hospitals. I even went back to school for another year to get my graduate certificate in HR Management, but still no luck in that because my bachelors degree is not in HR which is what mostly all employers want. Im giving up searching for a job and going into business for myself.
