I’m currently getting my BHA and planning on getting an MHA while I’m working after getting my BHA. Like yourself, I wanted to do something clinical at first (For me it was become a physical therapist) and then a few years ago I got a cancer diagnosis and underwent a stem cell transplant. This gave me some HUGE insight on the clinical side of medicine, and I also realized one major factor after becoming a patient, the clinical side was not my forte. I absolutely love healthcare, and have a desire to make quality changes to the system, but being a clinical provider does not suit me. My cancer diagnosis lead me to this career change, and I’m ultimately grateful for that. I liked watching your video!
Hey Andy! I read your comment and felt like I can relate because I’m currently working on my BHA,. I work as a CNA . I plan on getting my MHA while working as well. Good luck to you

I have an undergraduate degree in healthcare management from the top medical university in my state and my recommendation would be to only get a bha or bhm degree (or a masters for that matter) if you already are working in the healthcare field or in a healthcare office and want to try to move up. Or if you have some sort of connection and all you need to do is get a degree to move up. Don’t expect to get your degree with no experience working in the healthcare field and to just jump into an administrative position. It rarely happens. I got lucky bc my school did a internship for the last semester and I got hired on where I did my internship, but so many people I graduated with are still not working in our field because they had no prior experience and the degree can only teach so much. No one will hire you to run their medical office if you have never worked in that field before. I know it sounds blunt but just a warning to some people here!! Take it with a grain of salt, but just don’t expect the degree to land you a job on its own!!

Thanks for this video! I’m currently trying to do both nursing and healthcare administration. I know for a fact I want to do nursing but I know I don’t want to do it forever so the healthcare administration would be something to fall back on. I would like a management/business role after. Krista, I never comment on youtube videos but I am so drawn to do so now. Thank you so much! This was the best 20min pf my life it feels like!😂 I was enrolled at college after my AA and planned to minor in health science (in which I finished Fall 2021) and I was then planning to complete a minor in psychology and then apply to my school’s Nursing program February 2022. As the time got closer, the more studying I did for my teas I realized I was not as passionate as I was when I first started this journey. Over our Christmas break I did a lot of thinking and researching. Let’s just say I am so glad my brain did not explode! I was so overwhelmed with information. I wanted to change my major but I didn’t know what to, I researched and researched and the only other health related majors my school had were health informatics, speech, or health admin. I chose health administration, in which I realized when I was younger I said I would be anyway. I then tried to look up videos on youtube about the major and realized that not a lot of people talk about it like nursing. Thankfully I found your video and you just helped me realize that I really want to do this! I said that even switching majors to health admin, I could always apply to pa school or a masters program. You really helped me solidify my thoughts. I can breathe! I just wanted to take the time out to say thanks you! God bless you and I wish you the best. So far, today classes just started and I’m taking accounting (love it so far), health care systems, cornerstone, and microeconomics for undergrad. Please continue to post! I would love to stay updated. Again, I know this is long but this is how much you helped out. Blessings!💕
Thank you Krista I have watched many videos about careers in public health/health administration and yours is very (if not the most) helpful, clear and to the point. Many thanks from Lebanon !
Wow. I have my under grad in exsci too and have always been interested in getting my mha but wasn’t sold until now based on my professional experience and hearing ur experience I’m convinced it’s where I want to put my energy into! Thank you!!!
Wow I'm so happy I came across your video!! I also have my undergrad degree in exercise science and have totally pivoted from that as I've been working in Healthcare admin positions. Im currently on the strategy and communications team and just like you would also love to go into the marketing side of healthcare!! It's so comforting knowing there's someone out there who has a similar background and goals as me!❤ I've been trying to navigate what kind of masters to go for whether that be MPH, MBA, MHA or MS in Communications with a concentration in health. Thanks for providing a clearer insight on the MHA! How has your first year been so far?
Awesome video! Just a heads up to some bc CAHME has only like a few schools they accredited but there are other types of accreditation agencies as well that are widely known and respected. My school has AACSB which is the International the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-the leading accreditation agency for business schools in the United States. Less than 5 percent of all business schools worldwide meet AACSB International's demanding standards. (I copied that off my schools website lol). But yeah just so people know there are other options too! Personally, The cahme schools were a bit too expensive for me or the program was long and I wanted something expedited lol. Just FYI :)!!!! Good luck to everyone and their studies!!
Thanks for this info! I have a bachelor's in business and 10 years in management experience (in retail). I want to get my MHA and look into the medical management route. Thanks for this and please keep posting video! I just subscribed!

Franklin is sooo adorable 😍 Also I love your hair like that Krista! I love your grad school journey! I for one didn't really know anything about this major so it has been so interesting to learn about :)
Hello !! Hope you're doing well. Thanks for the knowledgeable video. Could you please help me know if MBA in healthcare from India would be sufficient to land up to a job in Canada?
I'm currently in BBA specialization in Banking Finance. Healthcare is my passion plus finance and healthcare these industries are the highest paying so i will do MBA in Healthcare Management.
Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful😇 I had my notepad out writing some things to help me get started on my new journey! Thank you sooo much💗💗💗
So I’m in the process of switching major to business management. Well I been undecided for awhile. I knew I wanna do healthcare but behind of the scenes.
omg I’m debating between healthcare administration or Business administration in marketing😭 Marketing sounds fun But healthcare sounds also very interesting
So glad I found your video!! I am graduating next week and thinking about getting my MHA next Fall. I am debating between a MHA or a MBA and very lost :(. I am getting my Undergrad degree in Health Administration and at my current internship with one of the largest health systems in the country I have spoken to a lot of upper management one director says MHA because it shows dedication to your field and another director who is finishing up his first year MHA at UW says an MBA might be better for me because a lot will be a repeat because I've taken the classes you've mentioned. Public health, health law, budgeting and policy, and marketing for healthcare. I know there isa blend in leadership with MBA's and MHA's
Definitely tough choice! I don't think you could go wrong with either. I would do whichever you are more interested in because the classes are difficult so you have to enjoy it!
I really like your videos. Not many people are talking about this major. I’m considering to change my major. I want to ask you a quick question. I am quite introverted person and not good at speaking skills at all. I want to work with healthcare system but same to you, I don’t want to be a doctor. However, I am worry about my speaking skill. It seems like we need to meet a lot of people in this industry lol 🥲
It is rather political and collaborative, so I will say you need to be good with people for sure. But that is something you can learn and slowly get better at I think!
Thank you so much for this informative video . Thinking about switching my route from Being a Pa to this . My question is how did you study for the GRE and is there a minimum of score you need to get for grad school ?

Hi.I have completed my undergraduation in Cardiac Perfusion Technology and now iam planning to take masters in MHA! I would like to know more about MHA and its job security..
Super helpful information - thankyou! In the United States, what does salary look like for a BHA graduate? What about an MHA graduate? I live in an area where the average home costs $700k, I have children, and I'm stressing about salary. That's the only thing holding me back from applying to the BHA program I want to attend. Thanks 🙂
Love your videos, just curious do you need a masters in healthcare administration or you can just get a grad certification and get your foot at the door?
People fail to realize that there is a legal and business side of a hospital - not just doctors, nurses, therapists, technicians, etc. Any degree that is used for the healthcare field whether it’s working in direct relation with patients, and surgery or on the legal/business side is not a waste of a degree. I mean how else do these people think that hospitals run? Do you think that the doctors go out and make legal decisions or maybe the nurses go out and also complete medical coding?
Hey Krista, I just came across your videos while trying to decide if I should get a Masters in Health Administration. Initially, I was going to go towards med school, then I switched to a PhD (So I got a masters in Biological Sciences), and now, I am actually considering going towards Health administration. However, I have a medical condition that limits me physically. Basically, I can't overexert myself (Being on my feet for long hours, having constant stress like a surgeon would, etc.). So I was wondering if you could help me better understand how physically demanding careers are for someone with an MHA degree? Can I get a job in this field where I have comfortable work/work hours and a good salary? I figured you would know more than me having already begun the degree so I appreciate any information you could provide.
Hello Krista, planning on starting my Healthcare administration program in a few months. Am just confused why most of the schools am looking at are giving a maximum of 15 weeks to complete an entire bachelor's degree. I thought it was four years at most so am not sure if it's ok for me to jump in on it? Again, is the CAHME certification for states only or all states? Lastly, i have a bachelor's from Africa, do you think i could just go and have my MHA or would you advise i start from scratch. My bachelor's is in English language and has nothing to do with anything health or management.
Loved your video! It was so helpful, especially since there aren't many videos on healthcare admin here on RUclips. I'm currently getting my public health degree alongside a business minor. I also plan on doing my MPH. Do you think I will still be able to get jobs as a healthcare admin since I'm minoring in business and also since my focus area of my PH major is in healthcare admin?
Loved your video Krista. I was wondering if you could still take the Healthcare Adminstration route if you major in economics? Or is a double major with public health, or a minor in public health required?
I love this!! I have been doubting my current speech pathology undergrad and I think this is a great route for me!! Do you think working as a speech pathology assistant after my undergrad would look good for grad programs?? Is that “clinical” enough or should I focus on an internship ?
@@diya8869 SLPS will have to go to grad school in order to be a licensed speech therapist. I have already taken out loans for my undergrad so I’d have to take out even more for graduate school (this will be the case w any grad program obviously) however SLPS don’t make enough money to pay back loans and live a comfortable wage. There’s only horizontal movement within the field, meaning you cannot move up, once ur an SLP that’s all that you’ll be. It’s a great field and if I had someone paying for my college I’d might stay in it but my heart isn’t in it and I’ve doubted it a while and the financial aspects of it don’t make much sense for me and my goals!!

I’m going into my last year of my undergrad degree in biology this year and have recently become very interested in the MHA degree. Similarly, I realized the clinical side of things along with intense science classes are not for me. I’m wondering what kinds of professional/job experience I could get during my last year of school that would help with admissions?
same here! im a junior exercise science degree and I am so over all of the biology, anatomy, chem and other insanely hard science classes. ive been wanting to go into OT sense my senior year of HS but now ive finally realized that its just not for me, especially because OT schools are becoming doctoral programs now. i wanted to find a masters program that was a little more attainable but still healthcare related and MHA seems like the perfect fit
I know that MPH is more sciency based - but what about MPH in healthcare admin? I was accepted into the following programs: MPH in healthcare management, MHA, and MS in healthcare management. The curriculum is so similar in all of these and I'm so conflicted on which to choose!!
Both of those are going to be much more analytical focused than the MHA. If I were you, I would set up informational zoom calls which each of the program directors and get more information!! :)

Hello! I’m currently finishing up my community college credits to transfer to a university to get a bachelors in healthcare administration. My question to you is, what type of entry level jobs should I look into applying for as an undergraduate to at least have some experience of working in a clinical setting. I plan to get my masters after undergrad & wish to work in a hospital setting as an administrator and work my way up. Any advice would be great! I was looking into getting certified as a medical assistance as a stepping stone into healthcare but I don’t know if that would be ideal?

I never comment on youtube videos but I am so drawn to do so now.
Wow, thank you!!!
I appreciate all your MHA related videos 🤎
I'm so so glad 🤍😭
Thank you 😍 you helped me solve a lot of questions I had, love your channel❤️
Thank you so much 🥰
Wow. I have my under grad in exsci too and have always been interested in getting my mha but wasn’t sold until now based on my professional experience and hearing ur experience I’m convinced it’s where I want to put my energy into! Thank you!!!
EEEP That is so exciting! I am so glad I could help
That is awesome! It will be a great way to get your foot into healthcare.
Have you started studying?
Oh how exciting! I’m in the program as well! My undergrad is in psychology. I’m about to take healthcare finance course. I’ve heard it’s tricky. Please everyone pray for me, that I score well.. and God bless you in your journey thanks for sharing:)
@@arissa3881 thanks good luck to you as well
@@arissa3881 did you ever pursue a MHA?
Im considering changing from my RN program to get my MHA. I already have a bachelor's and think I'd enjoy this more!
Eeep! That is exciting! 🥰
you are so cool! i work in health insurance so its so interesting to see all different perspectives
Eeep thank you love! That is cool!
This video was great!! I loved how informative it is! Definitely answered many questions I had. Loved to see more content like this 🤞🏻❤️
Thank you so much!! Definitely going to keep you guys updated!
Franklin is sooo adorable 😍 Also I love your hair like that Krista! I love your grad school journey! I for one didn't really know anything about this major so it has been so interesting to learn about :)
Thank you so much!! & yay that makes me so happy 🥰
@@KristaCannady Thank you 💞
I love youuuu 💗 go off girlie I’m so excited to follow your journey!
Thank you love!!
Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely helpful😇 I had my notepad out writing some things to help me get started on my new journey! Thank you sooo much💗💗💗
You're so welcome!
Omg thank you for this video! It was really helpful :)
Thank you 🥰🥰
Thanks a lot for everything you could to give us and l hope to talk about differance between the public health and health care administration
Your attitude is great!
Aw thank you so much!!!
So I’m in the process of switching major to business management. Well I been undecided for awhile. I knew I wanna do healthcare but behind of the scenes.
omg I’m debating between healthcare administration or Business administration in marketing😭
Marketing sounds fun
But healthcare sounds also very interesting
There are a number of excellent universities that aren’t CAHME accredited. OHSU for example. You’ll have no problem finding a job.
What school are you looking at please
I have my undergrad in Healthcare Admin and got my MBA. I wish I could go back and have done the MHA instead
@@annawaymire923 thank you so much for your response! May I ask why you feel that way?
This is my concentration for my BBA wanting to mix the other concentration of management and a healthcare services administration
Great video really helped me in clearing my doubts . thank you very much
You're welcome!!
Thank you so much for sharing all this information!!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for this informative video . Thinking about switching my route from Being a Pa to this . My question is how did you study for the GRE and is there a minimum of score you need to get for grad school ?
Depends on the school!! I honestly didn't study :)
thank you so much for all this useful information!!!!!!
Also , what are the top schools and points to remember before applying to grad school. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for this! I’m figuring you’ve finished your degree by now? What do you do now?
Yep! I have been a data analyst for 2 years now. I work within a large healthcare corporation. ruclips.net/video/ArqtVHIJM4Y/видео.htmlsi=V7qFw4fWxuxSrHSb
Hi.I have completed my undergraduation in Cardiac Perfusion Technology and now iam planning to take masters in MHA! I would like to know more about MHA and its job security..
Congrats that's super exciting! I will keep you all updated as I continue along and learn more!
I have completed BSc in nutrition and a pg. diploma course in clinical nutrition and got admission in MBA in healthcare administration.
love ur hair like this!!!!
Thank you so much love!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Can you do a lot with only a BHA?
I’m so glad I came across this
Me too🥰
Wow, here I am watching this again two years later. Finally “ready” to go to grad school.
Super helpful information - thankyou!
In the United States, what does salary look like for a BHA graduate? What about an MHA graduate? I live in an area where the average home costs $700k, I have children, and I'm stressing about salary. That's the only thing holding me back from applying to the BHA program I want to attend.
Thanks 🙂
Loved the video 💕 I had a question for you...Could I have a career in human resources with a bachelor's in healthcare administration?
Yes definitely!! :) Thank you!
Is healthcare administration the same as healthcare management?
soo interesting!!!
Thank you!!!
Thanks for this video, in this health care administration related to public health and is it a master’s program
hey can you make a video about colleges that provide this degree and the scholarships too.
This is off topic but your lisp is so cute ☺️
hahaha thank you! Ive never been told I have a lisp!
Love your videos, just curious do you need a masters in healthcare administration or you can just get a grad certification and get your foot at the door?
My undergrad degree is Health Systems Management, but it’s fairly new. So people don’t really know about it.
Yessss we have that program at my school! That's great!
@@KristaCannady wow!! Did they give y’all any insight on some jobs that we can have and do you have to do a mandatory internship?
I just started in Colorado technical university online for health administration for my associates
This video is interesting!!
Thank you love!!
What kind of jobs would you recommend to get while getting my undergrad in healthcare management?
Thankyou so much for sharing ❤️
Of course!! 🤍
Yes you shouldnt have a problem at all! Thanks for watching :)
@@KristaCannady Great, thank you! :)
Hi Swetha, would like to get some more info on this if you’re already into it! Would help a lot
Loved your video Krista. I was wondering if you could still take the Healthcare Adminstration route if you major in economics? Or is a double major with public health, or a minor in public health required?
There is no required undergraduate program of study! econ would be fine
@@KristaCannady I see thank you
Does the CAHME only count for Masters or do I need it for my bachelors as well?
Thank you so much.
is it possible to get a bachelors in public health & a masters in health administration?
I love this!! I have been doubting my current speech pathology undergrad and I think this is a great route for me!!
Do you think working as a speech pathology assistant after my undergrad would look good for grad programs?? Is that “clinical” enough or should I focus on an internship ?
Why are you doubting your speech pathology career?
What is the difference between healthcare administration and healthcare management?
Here is a great article - www.nu.edu/blog/healthcare-management-vs-healthcare-administration/#:~:text=The%20key%20difference%20between%20healthcare,day%2Dto%2Dday%20operations.
Which undergrad degree should I take before getting into MHA?
I had took science stream in my high-school.
Please suggest .
I’m studying business and at my university they offer healthcare management as masters. If I’m interested in healthcare you think it would be a good degree? And what about the job opportunities after grad school?
Can you please guide me on What is the scope of MSC in Healthcare in leadership in the UK?
Is health administration is a stem degree ?
What are the entry-level jobs after MHA?
I plan to do job videos once I start looking myself and know more :)
I’m going into my last year of my undergrad degree in biology this year and have recently become very interested in the MHA degree. Similarly, I realized the clinical side of things along with intense science classes are not for me. I’m wondering what kinds of professional/job experience I could get during my last year of school that would help with admissions?
I’m in the same boat! I’m a bio degree going into my junior year and don’t really want to do that type of stuff anymore
Same here! I’m wondering if lower level administrative type jobs required as a prereq.
same here! im a junior exercise science degree and I am so over all of the biology, anatomy, chem and other insanely hard science classes. ive been wanting to go into OT sense my senior year of HS but now ive finally realized that its just not for me, especially because OT schools are becoming doctoral programs now. i wanted to find a masters program that was a little more attainable but still healthcare related and MHA seems like the perfect fit
hiii Krista im defintely a new subbiee!!!!! I have a question I am starting my first year of community college I am new to college so I want to make sure im going in the right direction so my community college said that my first 2 years wil be regular gen ed classes im worried I feel that I should atleast my second year be able to start some classes supporting my major what classes should I take I dont know I need your helpppp
Hi, Im just got accepted for my grad school, I have a undergrad in criminal justice and minor in public administrations. Does it sound weird that I want to go to Healthcare Administration for my masters?
Trying to pick between health info management or administration.
Info management is much more tech/data focused :) administration is more management.
I am 10 classes away from my BHA at University of Phoenix and i have taken or have those classes now. Soooo i wonder what will take in the Master’s Program 🤔
