    I loved your suggestion of asking the interviewer WHY they picked you? I can imagine that not too many people would be brave enough to ask that question. I also agree with what you mentioned earlier - the interview is mutual. I always try to remember that when I have interviews.

      Hi Veronica! Thank you for the comment! I'm so excited for your interview next week! I'm glad my video helped. My best advice for you is to just be yourself! I know that sounds simple but it's the best thing you can do! At this point, since you have an interview you clearly have the GPA, GMAT, background, etc, that the school is looking for - so, the interview is mainly to make sure that you are a good fit and that your career goals align with their focus. You are in a great spot! And remember that all interviews are two way streets - you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.
      Please let me know how it goes! And yes, I will work on some videos along those lines. I can't get them done by next week but will get a few out soon. Again, be yourself and enjoy meeting the people at the program!

    • @dr.jeffcomer5185
      @dr.jeffcomer5185  2 года назад

      Hi Gabrielle, you are welcome!
      To start, congratulations on the recent B.S. degree!
      I'd suggest a few things for you. First, join the ACHE (American College of Healthcare Execs), which is good for networking. They also have local regions of people you can contact. Second, work with your B.S. school's alumni network - reach out to some of those people and see if they can help with recommendations for jobs or other people they can introduce you too. Third, volunteer at a local hospital. That can get your foot in the door to meet leaders at the hospital. Fourth, start searching on Linkedin. For example, if there is a hospital where you'd like to work, reach out to people on Linkedin who work there and network with them.
      You would be amazed at how much people want to help a new grad such as yourself! We have all been there.
      These are just a few things off the top of my head. I hope they help. Also, be patient, job searches can be frustrating! I've been there too!
      Please stay in touch and let me know how the search is going.

    • @dr.jeffcomer5185
      @dr.jeffcomer5185  3 года назад +10

      Yes! First, understand that you are not alone. There are many other introverts like you and me who are successful!
      To me , it is actually a strength to be more introverted. Leadership is most effective when listening to people and engaging them. Gathering input from others and making collaborative decisions almost always leads to better plans and success. This is something for which we introverts are very well suited.
      So don’t sell yourself short! Challenge yourself to jump into the management jobs you are interested in and reframe what you are telling yourself - Your introvert skills are absolutely a strength for you. They can lead you to being a better leader.

    This was such an inspiring video sir. Thank you so much for sharing such insights with us. I have a question where I am in a phase of figuring out things.
    My name is Zuwaina and I am a new immigrant in Vancouver, Canada. I have an MBA in (hospital and healthcare management) degree from back home (India) with around 5.5 years of experience. On getting my credentials evaluated here, I got a PG diploma valued here for my degree. I recently got the opportunity to study at University of British Columbia for the course of Masters of Healthcare Leadership and policy (Clinical education).
    To reach to the position of a hospital CEO, pursuing the MHLP degree would be better or starting with an entry level job in the hospital would be better? The course again is expensive and right now I haven’t gotten any jobs since the time I have landed. It’s been 2.5 months here job hunting. I was a Dentist back home and then pursued an MBA (hospital & healthcare management) and worked for 5.5 years.
    Sir your generous reply would help me sort out dilemmas in life and help me reach to some decision. Would be awaiting you response.
    So glad to have gone through your enlightening and knowledgeable videos.

    • @dr.jeffcomer5185
      @dr.jeffcomer5185  Год назад

      Hello, I'm so glad that the videos are helpful to you. One question - what is the PG diploma?
      So, given what you have stated, I don't know that I see much value, given the cost, of pursuing the second master's degree. You already have the MBA, which is what you need. I would suggest you pursue jobs in a hospital. 2.5 months in a job search is not long - so, do not be discourage. The key is to network as much as you can. You will eventually find a suitable position. I do want to state that I am not an expert on the Canadian healthcare system, as it is quite different from the United States. Try to meet some CEO's at local hospitals and get their suggestions as well. Also, look into local health care associations as they can be of assistance. Finally, Linkedin is an excellent tool to network.
      I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.
