Courtney, I needed this more than you know!!! Thank you for giving out the sauce!!!! It's been a journey for sure getting to where I am and having to be grateful through the process of what God is showing up! Thinking you're going to go into healthcare one way but then to see what is on the other side of healthcare and how you can still make a difference and hone in on your skills! Jeremiah 29:11

Awesome growth! I feel you on the over-embellished job titles. Cashiers are now called “Customer Experience Ambassadors”. Seriously?! There’s an urgent care practice here in Raleigh who posted a position for a “Patient Care Advocate”. I was geeked because I thought I would be working on behalf of families to be their mouthpiece Or to work alongside the ombudsman Or maybe challenge counterproductive policy, etc. THESE effin people’s job duties included “Be the first face the patient sees to greet cheerfully” and “Answer phone calls in a timely manner”, etc. I was so pissed. Um, they wanted a front desk clerk or receptionist. Hellooo…If you want me to pick navel lint from an ant’s belly, say so. If I’m supposed to recycle bat piss, say so. Tell me you want me to polish a door knob if that’s what you want. Ugh! I’m so happy you finished grad school. I walked this past May. Yay us!

Im late but am just NOW seeing this video (pt. 1&2) and I want to THANK you SO much for being so honest & detailed. I’ve seen a couple videos from you in the past & just assumed you had a straight shot with school & careers (my own mistake) & thought Health admin was out of my league and should go the clinical route as a nurse/PA etc.
However, This video broke a stereotype of you in my head & it was beyond relatable since your story is similar to my own. This was very inspiring as I’m finishing up my undergrad and want to go for my MHA but was not sure what jobs to seek out.
So, hunny I’m subscribed now‼️ -& will be watching many more videos.
Also, very awesome of you to respect your child privacy. ❤️ Wishing you & your family many more blessings! ❤️

I get judged so much from family and friends about my situation because I be having a hard time finding out what I want to do with my career. I JUST now decided to take a chance with healthcare. I even checked in school to major in Healthcare Management. Watching your story makes me feel like everything will be ok, and it all works out for the better. Congrats again girl.

Thanks for sharing. I’m about to graduate with my degree in Health Care Administration. I do not want to manage people at all. I currently work for a health insurance company and I’m at a lost as to how to get experience to move to another position. What was the name of the position you worked at Humana? I have worked for this company for 6 years and I’m in contract for 2 more because they paid for my education. I don’t know what to do next….

I really want to start working for companies that can possibly pay my tuition for my grad school( that would really help me) so I can focus in school and not have to worry about taking out loans. Could you please let me know which companies are willing to pay for student that are doing masters in healthcare administration? I would really appreciate it. Will be waiting on your reply! Right now if I do my under grad in Healthcare administration I can get it done in 2 years (with courses transferred) but if I complete my Psych Undergrad I can get it done in 1 year and potentially get my masters in Healthcare administration. Anyone have any opinions on this?? Thanks in advance
