Great job checking the finer details of the fit and finish of the knives. There is just something satisfying about a knife that is put together well. I know what you mean about getting a strong feeling about a knife, another mark of a true collector :)

Liked the big show you put on in your video I believe you did a fine job showing the points of importance of collection class knives. One more picky point you can mention is knives that provide half stops; is if the back spring is flush or proud in the half stop position. It shows a quality point even low price knives have over more costly ones sometimes. Being picky is what most collectors are; however it is a balance between fit, finish, cost and looks. Some collect the more perfect ones and pay the going price and difficulty of finding ones they want. If you attempt to collect all of a set of knives you will likely not get a prefect one of each. It is less difficult to find single blade knives with perfect builds than ones with three blades or more. However; there are ones that don’t have blade rub issues. Handmade knife makers do hit the perfect mark more often than not. If you find a knife that is perfect out of thousands that were made is one to keep for an example. I enjoy the content you present and like to hear your ideas and knife choices.

Hi Gizmo, I’m glad you liked the video buddy 👍. I can’t believe I forgot to show if the half-stops are flush! I usually do. Nice catch and thanks for mentioning it here in the comments. Great points here Gizmo; thanks for taking the time to contribute this great comment!

Fit and finish on traditionals varies. The old adage "you get what you pay for" applies to most scenarios. BUT price wise, Rough Ryder still surprises me. Even into their non-trads, a $9 Rough Ryder has better fit and finish than a $30 Gerber.

I guess I'm not too picky about brand-new knives. Used ones are a little different. Chunks missing out of the blades, blades that have been sharpened down to nubs, and modified blades are deal-breakers for me. I just picked up a little Imperial key jack that has a really rough edge, but for $0.99, I'm not complaining.
Don't worry about being too picky. At least you're not one of those folks who expects GEC quality at gas-station flipper prices!

I'm With You On Knife Appearance There's No Reason If You Purchase A Knife That Comes Defective Or With Blemishes Unless I Made Them Myself. High-End Knives Usually For Me Are Show Pieces Pocket Jewelry. Then I Have True EDC'S . Meant To Be Used I Prefer My User EDC Traditional (Not From My Display Collection) To Have A Landyard Hole For Paracord, A Bail or A Pocket Clip 📎 Preferably Tip Up. Which are Hard To Find On Traditionals. Rough Ryder's Workingman Comes Close With Some Of That Criteria Emerald Green Handles Super Budget Friendly & A Work Horse 🐎. If I Like A Knife That Much I Usually Would By Doubles One For Display The Other For Heavy Use. Theres Nothing More Satisfying When You Get A Knife & Use it. I Bet If Knives Could Talk all the ones On Display Would Be Jealous Because They never Reached Their Potential like The Beaters. You Have a Great Collection liking The Laguiole.

Your knives all collectible. I have something to say about the three inch Case Lock back folder. I love the knife but I have noticed that 15 to 20 percent of them have blade movement and that led me to believe that there could be an Inherent Design problem And I wonder If they've done anything about that. Have you run into anything like that. I'm64 now and winding down my collection.
