My grandfather collects Case knives, mostly trappers, but he will buy almost any Case knife. He has probably around 3,500 knives. They’re in cases along the wall, in the coffee table, he even has a rotating 4 side stand that he bought from a knife show. I could pick up any of those knives and ask him to tell me about it and he would be able to tell me everything about that knife in a matter of seconds. So much attention to detail and passion for the hobby.
Case is not the only one who can use any kind of handle material for it's knives. Ever heard of the French company Laguiole? All hand-made gentlemans slip-joint knives, really beautiful.
I carried a yellow handle case trapper since I was six years old and on through the years for at least 35 years. My father carried a Case stockman forever, the bone handle was worn down so much that Lee brass pins were sticking up from carrying it. Also the blade was a quarter of an inch in height from sharpening and about half an inch shorter from sharpening
My grandfather gave me a couple of Case knives. He thought highly of them. Show him a knife... "Oh, that's a Case? That's a good knife let me see that."
Very excited to be able to date the case knife my grandfather gave me when I was 10. His brother got it in 74 for him and now someday I will be able to pass it down to my niece.
I just bought my first Case knife. CASE XX WR Pocket Knife Two Knife Set Twin Finn. Looking forward to using it well for many decades to come. Thank you and be well!
@@rongarza1974 Wow, If they were liner locked and assisted opening I'd go broke buying every variant... 🤑 Takes balls to charge the same for an A/O as an auto in this day and time... but I do dislike aluminum scales and there aren't a ton of aftermarket options, even for Kershaw. @@lindenarden667 I have AO knives, and Spydeco (sp?), and I like them a lot. However, been carrying case since I was a kid, and I am not not old. I carry a case most of the time, or a Swiss Army Knife. I have a swayback jack that was a Bose colab. Love it. Get one. You will buy more. They are fun, and usable.
I love the Canoe with the curly maple. Also, Case, if you're listening, I'm sure I speak not only for myself but also for the people when I say that we would love nothing more then to see the 20's style autos come back. We need to make it happen!
I HAVE OWNED A SHEEPSFOOT WOODENHANDLED CASE SINCE 1968 AND IT NOTHING BUT AN ABSOLUTE WORK HORSE. LIKE ME IT IS GETTING A LITTLE LONG IN THE TOOTH, BUT IT WILL STILL HOLD A RAZORS EDGE AND DO EVERYTHING I ASK OF IT. YOU GUYS DO NOTHING BUT GREAT WORK.
Well, dang. This was my favorite video that you guys have done by far, and not just because of the nostalgia. Maury was a perfect guest, y'all need to give him his own weekly segment. In this day and age of needing a tool fast and now, I had forgotten about the gentle steadfastness of slow and deliberate. I can't think of anything more iconic than a well made slip joint. The well coveted hand-me-down knives of my youth were Case, Buck, and Old Timers. I just sent a link for your Case page to my Dad with instructions for him to pick 3 knives that he will routinely carry. The idea being that he will create his own "pocket worn" knives to pass down to my daughter and my two nephews. Thank you for making this video. So many wonderful memories have been stirred up
I've carried a case trailing point fixed blade, deer hunting for about 30 years now. So many memories soaked into that blade. Also love a grand dad barlow. Big and beautiful.
I must admit, I never was much of a Case guy. Then, I got a Caliber composite clip blade from the Zippo/Case museum about 10 years ago. I tell you, it's my favorite knife. It weighs nothing - that's what made me buy it once I handled it. I was skeptical about the durability of the handle, but I've never managed to break it in a decade. It's light as a feather, and tough as nails. Great video.
Please, Case, for the love of the knife gods, PLEASE offer more CV bladed knives!!!! I own a lot of Case knives and love them all but I would own A LOT more if more of them were available in CV!!
A few years ago, I didn't care to own any traditional knives in my collection. As of the last year, I have really fallen in love with them. I only have one as of now in my collection but would definitely like to get more. And as far as traditional knives, it doesn't get much better than a Case.
As the host said. The Trapper is the Mac Daddy Knife and I agree with him. I carry the yellow handle Trapper. It's a beater work horse knife. My dad gave it to me and it's priceless to me. The case emblem fell out and I need to send it back so they can fix it. Still works but has caracter.
Great video. Really enjoyed it and a great CASE education. Trapper always was my favorite growing up. That Kickstarter Trapper is calling my name and the CG01 and the Sharktooth flipper. OMG. I applaud CASE for expanding into those great looking new knives, S35VN steel. I wholeheartedly support those ventures.
I still have the sod buster I purchased to hike the AT at 15 with my older brother. After 40 years and a few hundred miles it has a patina but it still opens tight for a slip joint and holds an edge.
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity and to all involved. My favorite is the blade changer, but others are on my like list! Take care, "God Bless", sincerely -
Digging the fixed blade, the Cg01, and the sharktooth. Def forgot about the texas tooth pick. I like that knife. My grandfather is still i big case collector till this day.
Love the commentary on the knives and styles. I have 4 other brothers who always carried a Case knife on the ranch. I got my first Case pocket knife when I was 6 years old and have carried Case pocket knives for the past 60 years. My question is, how can we get carbon steel back in the knives instead of the stainless steel? I would love to get at least one more Case knife during my life that had the old carbon steel blades that you could sharpen and hold an edge and turned darker the more you used it. Thanks, Todd Ericsson
Its a shame knives like old timer and uncle Henry aint what they used t be. They were damn nice too, before the company that bought em shipped it all over seas
So glad that you are doing Case knives. I've been collecting them for a while now and just love their products. Wonderful company from my home state of Pennsylvania!
Case is what got me into knives! I always had a snake skin copper lock that was my favorite when i was a kid. But my favorite is probably between the gatorback mako or gatorback large texas toothpick!
My favorite Case pattern is the large Stockman with CV blades! I got my first as a college graduation present to me from . . . me. The local Mom & Pop hardware store always had a case in the back with Case pocketknives, but they were not available to me growing up. When I graduated, I decided to buy the knife I had been admiring for years!
Always have loved Case Knives and everything they are doing! Case Knives have been in my family for generations! My favorite pattern is the Barlow in Caribbean Blue Bone handle.
master class in salesmanship. no sarcasam the case man is an ice-veined company man and I have the utmost respect for that. will be rewatching for practice.
I have to say my favorite pattern would be the Congress. My grandfather got me one with the stag handle scales for Christmas when I was about 7 years old; absolutely beautiful.
I have never met a person that didn’t like a case knife. I have about 8 and they are the sharpest and most beautiful knives I have. I personally have carried a case knife every day I can could sense I was in 3rd grade.
When my grandfather passed I got his case slimline with red handles that he had used for so long that at first i thought the scales were black. Sharpened so much the blade was missing so much material. I carried it for two years and then it was confiscated in a school and I never seen it again. I will always live case knives
I am 15 and I love the fact that knives were the first tool and the second weapon. I love what Case is doing (even though I don’t really like traditional slip joints) keep being American!
Carried a yellow CV Sodbuster for well over 10 yrs. as my edc work knife. It is my favorite pattern grrr om Case. Loved that knife and will be getting another soon.
Alejandro...... the RussLock is an awesome pattern and has become a staple in the Case line. Will definitely be a part of the next video if we get asked back. Thanks for your support of the Case Brand!
My grandpa has an original stockman from the 70s that we use to clean fish on our fishing trips. One of the blades is stuck closed and the others aren’t much easier but it’s still sharp as hell
I'm a big fan of knifes and you are doing a great job bringing in interesting topics in All your videos along with cool knifes.... Love and wishes from India 🕵
These are true , grandfather knives! I have a few that are handed down that still run strong!! The Clip Point is hands down my favorite blade design. I really like the new Kickstarter, if I don’t win one I’ll still end up buying one!
My daddy had a Barlow in every toolbox he has ever owned... when he passed I was given all the tool boxes and I found the knives! All the knives where used so much that the blades where grinded down to sharpen over the last 40 years... most of them looked like toothpicks! Great stuff... I will be buying a few more Barlow’s and some other I seen I liked thinking my daddy might might have liked them also..
Case knife are the coolest, I'm fighting the urge to buy more.... That man is a great representative of Case too, very knowledgeable! Keep up the good work
Medium stockman in CV steel is my fav. Versatile with the 3 blades. Classy/traditional enough for "formal" settings, or good on the farm or for cleaning birds. Reminds me of Granddad.
This is one of the best videos you guys have done in a while. Love the enthusiasm from both of you and the beautiful knives on thr table. That assisted trapped is probably going in my collection in a day or 2. Love the sharktooth.
Oh man. Thanks for this video. I was hunting deer 30 years ago. I found a Case knife laying on the ground half covered in snow. I still have it somewhere. I knew it was a good knife. But it is a little big for EDC. Maybe I have a goldmine.
The first knife I ever owned was a Case Muskrat given to me by my Grandfather for my 13th birthday. He sent it in the mail with a small card telling the story of how his own gra father had given him the same pattern knife to him the day he left for his first deployment in Vietnam. 2 tours later and he had worn and sharpened the main blade down to a steel toothpick. He still has it in his desk to use as a letter opener. I still have my own Case Muskrat but I don't carry it anymore. The main blade is worn and bowed from sharpening. After I got my current Tribal Lock, I put it up in my gun safe. One day, my own son will carry it in turn and then my grandson. At this point, the Case Muskrat is a family tradition that has been passed down across 5 generations based on oral history. Case is the company that inspired my love and passion for knife collecting, and it all started with a little 2 blade pocket knife given from grandfather to grandson.
Not quite sure what type of case it was, but when I was around six years old my grandfather took me over to show me his “real men’s knives” he pulled out an old case knife from the early sixties complete with all the scratches, wear, and patina that you can only get from real use. I’ve always thought of that as one of the coolest representations of a knife with a story or two
Daniel..... that is a great story and I know a great memory for you. One of the coolest parts about my job is talking to people about their knives and the stories that go along with them. Often is was their Dad's, Granddad's or given by someone special. I often say, 'man if that knife could talk, what stories it would have!'. Glad you have a great memory and a great knife. Hopefully you will have someone special to share that with...... or get a new one and start a new tradition :-). Thanks for your support of the Case Brand!
I love the traditional trapper. A liner lock version would only make a beloved design even more functional. Thanks a lot for showing me the winkler and kirinite mini. Now i have to buy-thanks bladehq for stealing all my money
I really like case knives. Got some trappers for my wife and me. Sadly, they are very expensive in Germany. A cv yellow plastic handle trapper costs about 75€
Wooooooot!!! Thank you for the video! I always love learning more about the knives you feature and getting ideas for what I should add to my collection next! Awesome video yet again! You’re killing it gentlemen! I can’t wait to order my proper and kalashnikov from you guys tomorrow!
I have had a trapper since I was 8 years old. But I think I might have a new favorite, the kickstart trapper looks awesome. I am also excited about the Winkler Skinner.

Well my outdoorsy grandpa died and my other one is a city guy so... yeah not happening with me... oh and did I mention he lives in Mexico?
Linden Arden I understand same here.

Us Kansas men appreciate our case knives
That was an awesome video! I was reluctant to watch at first but so glad that I did.
I love the traditional trapper. A liner lock version would only make a beloved design even more functional. Thanks a lot for showing me the winkler and kirinite mini. Now i have to buy-thanks bladehq for stealing all my money
I'm a big fan of the Trapper, it gets a lot of use on the farm.
Slimline Trapper! Been carrying this one for the last 5 years and was my first Case... love this knife!
I really like case knives. Got some trappers for my wife and me. Sadly, they are very expensive in Germany. A cv yellow plastic handle trapper costs about 75€
Yeah Europe’s knife prices are crazy.
Wooooooot!!! Thank you for the video! I always love learning more about the knives you feature and getting ideas for what I should add to my collection next! Awesome video yet again! You’re killing it gentlemen! I can’t wait to order my proper and kalashnikov from you guys tomorrow!
Great video! Dam I need a case now as backup
I have had a trapper since I was 8 years old. But I think I might have a new favorite, the kickstart trapper looks awesome. I am also excited about the Winkler Skinner.
I carry my case knife lol, doctors knife with damascus and crimson bone. Love it.
So happy to see good old fashioned American knives making a comeback.
