With you reviewing the Case Stockman and seeing the lack of quality, I'm going to avoid purchasing from Case; for the money you pay, you shouldn't have to be concerned about the blades being centered or not opening or closing properly, the walk & talk isn't there? Until their quality comes up to high standards I'm avoiding them.

  • @Alan-x8p4l

More than one person has commented on, Case's factory edge, they say it isn't very good. I don't own a Case, yet, but, for the money people spend on their knives it should have a sharp factory edge. I like to buy American made products but China is moving up the ranks as far as quality and price. Many people, who don't have alot of money to spend, are buying Chinese made products because the quality is pretty good and the prices are alot cheaper; the American made knives are often times double or triple the price of other knives, with that being the case, (no pun intended), the knives need to be top notch quality with a razor sharp edge. Enough said, thank you for sharing this video it is very helpful. 😎👍

Sod Buster Jrs seem to get blade rap pretty often. I don’t own a Copperlock but really wanted one. Kinda thinking they wouldn’t have blade rap as often as soddys, but I heard you mention blade rap on Copperlocks in this video. Does it happen often with that pattern too? I dont think I’ve ever got a trapper or a stockman or any other models I can think of that have blade rap like soddys do. It’s almost half the soddys I buy come with blade rap. Drives me mental.

You should have put the Black screws with black blade, and the Stainless screws with the stainless blade. They all work for a better flow. Maybe I haven’t gotten that far, so I’ll see if you changed them.

I’m doing this exact thing with Civivi Foldis Black and Copper swap. I want the Stainless color blade on the Black G10 handle, and the Black coated blade on the Copper. I hope it’s as easy as this.

This guy obviously doesn’t hunt!? I live and grew up in the hills and coal fields of West by god Virginia! In my younger years I was an avid hunter, and I’ve seen friends field dress white tails with a two blade Magnus broached bc they forgot their knife. I know hard men who hunt Dolly Sods, the national forest. They go tens of miles and camp over night on hunting trips. Weight is very important to them and they all carry smaller light weight items to keep weight down. Last year I took my boy squirrel hunting and we processed all of our kills with my Case pen knife. I used that same knife to process my trout in the spring.

I saw another Helle knife, dont remember which one, with the metal sticking out in the back. Apparently that metal could be used as a fire striker on a fire rod. (The top edge on the blade doesnt work well for that.) The spark it produced was insane!! 😲 Can this one do the same? Have you tried?

For splitting wood you would need an axe blade with a much more distinct wedge shape but as a weapon the hook/beard is very handy to grab the edge of a shield or a weapon and the axehead need to be as light as possible. I have this Cold steel bearded axe, but for combat you need to hold it a little up the handle to get a good balance, but I often have it in my truck when I go hunting, the long handle and the beard makes it handy when clearing growth away from infront of treestands etc. With a little skill the bearded axe can also be used as a planer.

I own the trapper and the stockman. Both have fit and finish BETTER than my new CASE knives. The blades are razor sharp out of the box, I have yet to need to resharpen them. After use, I simply run them over a strop a few times, and they are good to go. D2 seems to be a really good steel selection. I need more time and use to decide how much I like it.

The reason it’s sold alongside their tomahawks is because you’re supposed to think of it and use it like a tomahawk. You can use it for light bush work and wood crafting but it’s still mostly a weapon.

This is plenty of knife for most people, imo. A lot of folks act like they are going to be batoning wood or cutting down shrubs every day, when really all they do is open boxes, letters and bags of chips. This knife is plenty for most day to day knife work, yet it's also incredibly light and compact. I love mine and have never had a situation where I was "underknifed"

I missed the burnt indigo Wharncliffe copperlock when it came out, and spent the next couple of years on and off looking for one. Finally found a good deal on a display model from one of the big Case dealers. It's a superb example and I couldn't be happier with it. 👍

I have had this ax for several years I have only ever used it as a tool despite its weapon design and it has served me greatly I have smashed through doors cabinets and bed frames I’ve also cut down trees with it and split large logs And even after six years of this abuse, it still standing strong the handle has broken a few times, but getting or making a new ones not too bad Despite the thin blade, it’s a surprisingly good splitter I think it’s because of how dramatically the eyehole swells I am a short man, and this axe also acts nicely as a cane in the winter
