They were far more charming and memorable
That and their aesthetic fits in and makes sense, they're youths with no true purpose or direction in their lives. They're a pretty good cover front for the actual villain team, Aether Foundation.
For Yell, I understand Marnie's a hot babe and you wanna cheer for the representive of your home town (and also Spikemuth gym leader's little sis) but... bah I dunno, I suppose I just don't like seeing that the male grunt is obese. And just like Skull, they are fodder for the actual villain team which is not introduced until the last 20 minutes of the game or so.

They kinda fucked up the rival in recent gens. I remember in gen 5 and before the rival actually chose the supereffective pokemon against yours. What a waste tbh, Imagine how good the game would have been if Gamefreak actually cared about it instead of rushing it for Christmas sales
still not very good?
I don't think it's necessarily gamefreak not caring. Seems to me that the problem with pokemon is that it's a multimedia franchise that needs to time its releases with the new anime series and the new card game packs and shit like that. So while metroid and animal crossing can be delayed cause the final product isn't up to the series' standards, gamefreak can't delay pokemon cause it'd cause conflicts with the anime schedule and cardgame production. I think that's the most likely explanation.
That’s not really game freak thing your blaming the wrong person. This more of a business thing and deadline thing when they must get the game out at a certain time
Blame The Pokemon Company for the rushed product. They give GF the deadline, and because of how they have the anime and card game set up the game HAS to come when they say. It's a real shame. I think that when you ignore how a lot of features won't be here next gen, you can clearly see the care Gamefreak put into them. I truly believe if they had a year or even a year and a half they could have spread that love throughout the entire game rather than having to cut corners.
no its definitely game freaks fault they put in barely any money which equals to barely any work done

Then what reasons are there to play this game when the handheld games exist? a pity SaS could have been really nice.
@Sebastian Ramirez My big + is that just about anybody can put effort in and get endgame viable teams. You can farm for candies to get 100s, then farm battle tower to get any 'mon perfect with 1 exclusion being hidden abilities. Just the mere idea that you don't have to spend hundreds of hours getting 1 perfect, let alone an entire team, is why it's better than most other games. Had this game launched alongside HOME and have the ability to import any 'mon, had it had better graphics and optimization overall, it would've totally been 9/10 or more.
I'd still say it's something like 7.5/10, but it's the first game that I've actually liked since BW2.
@Sebastian Ramirez Except you don't have to use them. Sure, L and XLs are broken if you just started, but you can't join any random raids unless you have friends doing them. XS and S candies are hardly breaking at all, and you still don't have to use those either. Even without the candies, which I didn't even use, it was still dummy easy until the champion fight. The rest of the game my team was stronger than my enemies. GF is really emphasizing end game this time around, and as much as the amount of mon cut sucks, it really is much more balanced.
@@SausageBrosdotbik putting yourself in an artificial difficultly doesn't make the game hard, if the game gives you everything to became OP at the start of the game it means the game is super easy

Pretty much, sun and moon is an exception

Pokemon does not get released on a yearly basis. Nor is pokemon a sports game. This comparison is flaccid at best...
This game was made with a free screen recorder.
Funny you mention that, there isn't even a built in battle recorder anymore.

@@mekudu-man3804 there is a mouse cursor in the credits
This game could have been amazing. Better animations, tons of interactions with your Pokemon and really connecting, like a tomodachi and Pokemon game in one. Massive open world etc.
Instead we got Pokemon Sword and Shield.
It’s pretty bad when Pokémon battle Revolution, and Pokken two games made in 2006 and 2015 respectively have better animations and graphics than a Pokémon game made in 2020
Remember when people thought that let’s go and Usum were lackluster to buff out time for gen 8 so it would be amazing?
@@UnclePhil1112 it was made in 2019.
Personally I think we could forget most interactions with pokemon for more flushed out environments.
This aged well, we got Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Honestly the new pokemon are some of the most solid designs we’ve gotten in a long tim imo
Yeah because we needed MORE psychic fairy types. Solid.
@@iHasaComputer this gen is also tied with the most amount of dragons we've ever had, fairy's gotta keep those in check. plus there are alot of steel pokemon to counterbalance the fairy typing. so I fail to see your point
I like the sobble line, the grookey line...
And now I have to think of what other designs I like.
(I will say that this gen has better designs than gen 2)
Pokemon online on 3ds X and Y were straight fire
Yeah and the original DS Wi-Fi worked great with Pokemon as well. I have no idea whats up with Gamefreak
Online overall was much better on the 3DS. It had browser, apps and its own ''social media'' lol. Switch is mind boggling when it comes to online and they charge for this shit. I still can't message my friends on Switch. And I loved GTS but they had to just remove it for some reason. I can't even trade exclusive Pokémon anymore...
Only saving grace of XY was the neat online in spite of the lacking postgame. Now we have an even more barren postgame and worse paid online lol
Yeet. Even though XY's story and rivals and post game content and overall content were trash, the online legit was excellent. Wonder Trading, the PSS, even online battling was done excellently.
Even though I still rank XY among the worst, they still have that going for them.
X and Y are garbo.
And this is where I get off the Pokemon bus.
I'll get back on when the games aren't trash.
Youre gonna have to wait a loooooooooooooong time
@Alexander The Not As Great I didn't like B2/W2 as much as B/W. But I might replay them. After...I finish up my playthrough of modded Terraria.
This is why I love Colloseum and XD Gale of Darkness. They changed the fundamentals of the handheld Pokemon games for the console games. They were extremely unique, and while they weren't perfect, at least effort was put in to show that this is a console game. Not a handheld game ported onto a console.
What pissed me off was the hand-holding. I could've gotten over everything else, but at some point in one part of the game there was a straight path you walked, without ANY turns to get lost, unless you are 3 and have a serious brain disorder you cannot get lost here. But it makes you stop 3 different times so that little shit can say "Hey, don't know where to go on this 1-lane straight & narrow path? First get through my 3 pages of dialogue explaining how to walk, then follow me!"
And this is at like the 2nd or 3rd gym in the game. Like I just don't understand what they were even thinking.
To be fair, I think "Twitter virgins and their waifu" impression was what they were going for with Team Yell
When in reality Charlie apparently wasn't even bothering with the story. Yell only follows Marnie around because her brother, and also their gym leader, tells the gym trainers to dress up as a team and help her.
@@SausageBrosdotbik . . . Really? Wow.
@@WolwerLeague That is exactly what happens. Team "Yell" isn't an actual team, but rather a group of people from Piers' gym, sent by him to protect and help his sister on her gym challenge. The real antagonist team is Macro Cosmos, something that should've been expanded upon more in the story; sure, but something Charlie didn't even mention.
I mean, I like our moist boi critikal, but christ this was a show of pure ignorance. I mean, he forced himself to play a game he obviously didn't like. That bias really shows.
@@SausageBrosdotbik I'm aware Rose is the real villain, but I wasn't aware of Team Yell's origins.
Charlie and other people bring up pretty valid points for why the new pokemon games aren't all that great, but I guess he really didn't pay attention to some of the story (It's pokemon, after all. Storytelling was only outstanding in gen 5, imo. I guess Rose gets bonus points for being the least evil and selfish team leader from what I've seen. Just a man who wants to solve Galar's problems.). Still, Charlie's comments regarding Team Yell and Marnie made me laugh.
There is no fucking story until you get to the end of the game. These games are so fucking bad.

Hop is just a somehow weaker copy of Hau (the rival from sun and moon) he even has the EXACT same animations as Hau in some parts.
This game is just straight up lazy

@@lgbtqiarights Keep in mind, "bettering the animations" was one of the reasons they cut 65% of the pokemon, only to find out that all they've done is reuse 🙂
bananas exactly, they lied to us for the sake of copy and pasting and just being lazy
@@skitterybananas1365 Not only that, but some of the cut Pokemon have models in the game. You just can't get them.
@@staticshock4239 there are only 35 unfinished pokemon, and the modders are adding some of the cut pokemon back in. SciresM will probably release a mod with a bunch of cut pokemon at some point in the future.
Technical stuff aside, Controversies aside, this was the most monotonous and lackluster pokemon game.
Why do they feel the need to baby up these games, you have games like pokemon let's go, baby those up, keep those casual, not the mainline games, make those harder but still appealing to causals. Keep things like the pokecamp and EXP Share(have it optional of course) but for for the sake of jeebus, stop making it hold you hand. This would make great opportunity to cater to both audiences and get the best of both worlds.
Get the casual people hooked then when they want to move up to the big kids table, they can have that, if they don't like the big kids table, they can go back to causal play. And then the hardcore fans will just buy anything pokemon, so you win there too.
These companies are gonna feel sorry when they push the core fans out and rely on only mainstream audiences, because they aren't loyal, they'll move on to the next dumb thing on a dime.
What makes it worse is the fact that Gamefreak lied about making new Pokemon models from scratch. The Pokemon character meshes from SwSh are identical to the ones from the 3DS games. So, them cutting out Pokemon for the sake of "efficiency" is fucking bullshit. And because the game has received good feedback, it's likely they'll keep cutting the National Dex in future games
I would say Polteageist is one of the better lookibg Galar pokemon
Better than Corviknight, Orbeetle, Centiskorch, Flapple and Dragapult?

The fact that so many good designs show up is great. I wouldn't know where to start with ranking them. Dragapult would be a little lower down for me. Whilst I love it housing it's pre-evolution in it's headcrest like rockets I'm not too keen on how it's legs and hands just exist on it's body. A quadrapedle stance like St. Georges Dragon would have looked better for me personally but it's slightly awkward look is endearing.

No, actually. Pokemon fans WANT the games to improve. Me and my friends were so excited imagining a 3d pokemon game with real-time encounters back when pokemon gold was brand new.
There might be a few purists out there, but most fans want pokemon to become the ultimate game, basically, and are frustrated that the game is lagging so far behind on a technical level.
