I wish they made like a "not mentally ill" setting for players who have played pokémon games before, like trainers with ev trained mons and stuff, would be cool/ challenging. Throw in the random trainer with a legendary too
My guess is they made this game disappointing because they want people to give maximum appreciation for what they are planning on making which (according to my completely imaginated theory) a freeroam rpg style offline game that makes you feel like a real pokemon trainer for their next main series release...
I also think they tried to make this game playable for people who love pokemon and have grown to have low standards over the past 5 generations in pokemon's main series history

@Rage virus and zombification are 2 diverse concepts It's easy up to the champion who can destroy you if you don't expect him to be that strong. He'll easily outlevel you too if you don't train at all. I trained to the level I thought he was gonna be and it was pretty close. With my post game team he's a joke though.

So my cat, Franki, recently came down with a pretty severe stomach virus. The vet gave me some anti biotic drops to put in his food but when I’d do that Franki wouldn’t touch it. So, the vet suggested using a small dropper tube to insert the medicine directly into his anus. The first time was absolute hell, my cat fought me the whole time but once the tube was in and the medicine pushed out he seemed to calm quite a bit. Well the next day he was acting strange, he has always been an independent cat, rarely coming around, never wanting to be held, but as I sat on the couch he started walking back and forth meowing and rubbing my leg. He then went and jumped up on the table where we’d done the application the night before and meowed louder and louder until I decided I guess we will go ahead and do the medicine treatment. This time he didn’t fight me though, and when I inserted the tube he closed his eyes, stretched his neck, and let out a noise that can only be described as a moan of pure ecstasy. Maybe the medicine made him feel better, I supposed. That night he slept on my bed curled up right next to me, which he had never done before. For the next week he’d do the same thing every day, meow on the table until he got his ‘fix’... But then the medicine ran out. Even though I had no medicine he’d still cry and beg for it, I thought maybe if I insert it without medicine he will realize it doesn’t make him feel better anymore and forget about it. Well that was 2 weeks ago and he is only getting worse. He walks around me all day with his tail up presenting his rectum and trying to entice me. He is demanding insertions more and more often. Yesterday I caught him looking longingly at the turkey baster... When I sit he jumps in my lap purring and rubbing me affectionately. It was then in horror I realized my cat thinks I’m his gay lover, and that I’ve been sexually pleasing him for weeks now. Needless to say the sexual tension between us is palpable. How do I let my cat know that I’m not gay, but still like him as a friend?
Try to play a "hacked" version , i am playing one using emulator on my phone -NDS emulator - they basically modify the game to be harder , way harder .
I'm annoyed at the fact many fans still bought this game... even after complaining and SEEING visual evidence beforehand on how little effort was put into this game. Gamefreak got these hardcore Pokemon fans by the balls.

And that's not even exclusive to the in-battle move animations, there are plenty scattered around the game that are horribly poor, and what's wrong with that is that they used animation as an excuse for cuts and shortcomings. But to have seen them cut things out for animations, a lot of which are already recycled, only for them not to even look that good, yeah, it begs a lot of questions. Also they took a load of battle moves out of SwSh, so...
I didn't mind black and white where one picked the disadvantaged one and became free experience and the other took the advantage and acted as a wall, that wasnt bad and reflected their characters, now they just feel token, like "well you have to have a rival but let's not make them too challenging"
Way shorter and more satisfying in an action game. In Pokemon after the attack animation you have to sit through the HP bar draining, the text telling you the enemy fainted, the enemy faint animation, maybe some failure of a witty line from the other trainer if they're an important character, then them sending out their next Pokemon. It may only be a few seconds but during that time you're not doing anything, not preparing the next attack or running to the next challenge or defending from the next enemy, you're just waiting.

Pokémon has stagnated brutally since XY came out in 2013. In the last 8 years, there has been 4 new main series games and 2 major DLC, yet mega evolution is still the last exciting thing to be introduced in this franchise.
I have been an ardent Pokémon fan for a good decade now and it sucks to see what the franchise has become. I have played and completed every mainline game from Platinum to USUM, but once the national dex controversy hit and after finding out megas would be cut entirely (absolutely the best gimmick and should’ve been a main series stay), I knew something was up. With the series' massive hardware upgrade, there’s no excuse for the games being as ugly as they are. The games are too easy (mandatory exp share and now affection as of BDSP) and the formula, outside of Legends: Arceus (god I hope that game ends up being good, graphics aside) remaining pretty much unchanged since forever. I will forever miss the gen 4-5 golden age and hope Pokémon can get their act together before they remake gen 5.
Gen 6 was my first game, and I’ve only played it along with Sun & Moon. I loved 6, and thought 7 was alright, but I never played any of the previous games. I’m also hoping that the Gen 5 remakes will capture the spirit of the original, because I would love to experience one of the best entries in the franchise.

It only really started to go down after X and Y, with simplified routes and easy hand-holding gameplay, and overall a weaker story and less interesting characters than it’s predecessors.
I’m pretty sure they upped the rate, every one I have encountered in the game has been female. Same with Salandit, actually. I could just be lucky I guess, but it doesn’t feel like 12.5% or whatever.
It has been like this for a few gens now... I grew up with Gen 1 and 2 and that shit was easy at first, and then it really started to get more and more difficult for real, crossing your fingers you didn't get critical hit. And you couldn't overlevel your pokemons too much because then they wouldn't obey you anymore! It was all strategy and planning. Nowdays it's just a walk in the park.

Two headcanons for this Combee: She’s trans and evolved into vespiqueen and is now living happily as a murderous bee, or combee is FTM and was forced into becoming a vespiqueen due to the Galar region being populated exclusively by transphobes, hence why dunkey was begging for him to go back to being Combee.
I remember when I thought these games were going to be really good because of te character designs and gym things, but after the 6th gym I just stopped playing and regretted buying the game digitally
@@obad7633 The game has a lot of issues other than difficulty, especially as one of the biggest game series in the entire world. Also, play an older pokemon game. Games can be aimed at kids abd still be hard, and teens especially like harder games
@@obad7633 I'd be fine with easy games that are fun. I had an okay time with SwSh but most of it was due to nostalgia and the bare minimum of being a Pokemon game on the Switch. They were disastrous from a quality perspective.

I think the problem is that when you see "behind the magic" and you discover the developers of something you loved so much don't care about it at all, and just want to make a quick buck with it makes every pokemon game have that thought in the back of your mind "Did the developers really did this out of love?" And then pokemon lost its magic to me I will forever remember the fun moments i had with this franchise, but for me at least, party's over

Anti-Villains are the best kind of villains if they are properly fleshed out and not "Oh yeah I just want to help people" after an entire storyline of them eating babies or something.
I kinda liked it :D Its not like everyone is just good guy, they are still villains - honestly, this is one of the only pokemon that really effectively employ these kinds of characters.
@Bob Bobbertson I get where you're coming from, but regular villains aren't compelling, usually. That's why anti-villains started being used: they can have actual compelling character motivations.

To be fair, modern Pokémon games could stand to be a bit more challenging. I understand that the core audience is young children, but kids aren't stupid. Kids figured out how to beat Red and Blue, back in the stone age, when Pokémon was uncharted territory and nobody consulted walkthroughs. Its safe to say, modern kids will figure this shit out. The first 2 hours can be easy, that's fine, but once they grasp the basic mechanics of the game there's no reason they can't start increasing the difficulty little by little, the same way this is done in good platformers. First introduce a new mechanic in a forgiving environment, then incorporate it into challenges that will kick your ass if you aren't smart. I think if Pokémon games were more willing to throw the player curve balls and put you up against opponents who are much stronger than you, it would force players to think outside the box and when you finally beat them it would be far more satisfying. Of course a grass Pokémon has an advantage in the water gym, and it's fine to have one or two easy gyms at the beginning like that, but why not have gyms get harder as you go. I don't mean higher level opponents, that's obvious and the player can just grind until he is stronger, that's not genuine difficulty. I mean the water gym leader should have a contingency plan against grass types and electric types. Maybe she switches out to a dragon type as soon as you send out your grass Pokémon, and the dragon uses shit like Light Screen: now your grass moves do half the damage. How about a fast water Pokémon that will go first and kill your grass with a flying attack before he has a chance to attack. All I'm saying is make the player WORK for the win. Catch unsuspecting players off-guard and force them to plan their strategy using the in-game mechanics to their advantage. It doesn't have to be dark souls, it just has to present genuine obstacles for the player to overcome.
Exactly what I feel. I heard that the Crown Tundra DLC is harder, but I don’t want to have to pay to unlock hard mode. Even then, it’s a shorter story. I recently started playing Ori and the Blind Forest, and it handles new mechanics and easing into them extremely well, like you take a huge fall, but a new skill is at the bottom, and then platforms that require you to use that skill appear, and then you get up and progress through that section and others with that skill, and the other skills you’ve gotten. I just hope in the next gen game it’ll bring a good challenge.

Unlike Mario or Zelda, Pokemon games haven't evolved in terms of game design, but actually DEvolved and lost sight of what made the og titles a smash hit in favor of gimmicks and mini games. Last one I tried was Ultra Sun and I still can't believe how much boring BS they were able to shove in the players way of just playing the core game, which can be fun. The sheer amount of unskippable cutscenes and dialogue baffles me. Even in Metal Gear Solid games you can SKIP the cutscenes if you're sick of them. Not in Pokemon. At this stage Pokemon knows that the brand will push new titles even if the quality is poor. They have no reason to innovate. It's a shame.
@@bluetoon1499 100%. Mario Odyssey still has fun and original platforming, Zelda still has good puzzles and combat, but Pokémon has charm, but not the original aspects like good battles. Ultra Sun and Moon’s only good thing was that battle with that woman who fused with the Pokémon. That was original, that was cool, oh, Rainbow Rocket? Cool, what’s their deal? Oh, there’s nothing different between them and the original Team Rocket. Dope. X and Y was sorta cool too, Lysandre or whoever had like a mech suit or something. But Sword and Shield? The evil gang’s deal was that they just supported one of the other competitors, wow! How threatening and interesting! I bet the next gang will be like, daycare workers or something. Pokémon games are very quickly dwindling, not a slow decline, it’s like a relatively sloped cliff.
A Pokemon rom hack called unbound does something similar and honestly it's waayyy better. It removes the grind from the older games by introducing the exp. share mechanic from newer games but had the option to cap it so you can't overlevel(not to mention you can turn both of the share and the cap off) . And most gyms have some unique twist that makes you think outside the box. Like one gym with grass type has mist and the Pokemon are such that winning is much harder than spamming a move. And the electric gym has magnetism so all electric types levitate and you can't hit them with ground type. There's also a normal type gym which has inverse battle so the type matchups are completely reversed and there's no Pokemon type that is strong against that gym . Not to mention selectable difficulties ranging from vanilla to kaizo . And there are other mechanics which the game a lot of fun

So my cat, Franki, recently came down with a pretty severe stomach virus. The vet gave me some anti biotic drops to put in his food but when I’d do that Franki wouldn’t touch it. So, the vet suggested using a small dropper tube to insert the medicine directly into his anus. The first time was absolute hell, my cat fought me the whole time but once the tube was in and the medicine pushed out he seemed to calm quite a bit. Well the next day he was acting strange, he has always been an independent cat, rarely coming around, never wanting to be held, but as I sat on the couch he started walking back and forth meowing and rubbing my leg. He then went and jumped up on the table where we’d done the application the night before and meowed louder and louder until I decided I guess we will go ahead and do the medicine treatment. This time he didn’t fight me though, and when I inserted the tube he closed his eyes, stretched his neck, and let out a noise that can only be described as a moan of pure ecstasy. Maybe the medicine made him feel better, I supposed. That night he slept on my bed curled up right next to me, which he had never done before. For the next week he’d do the same thing every day, meow on the table until he got his ‘fix’... But then the medicine ran out. Even though I had no medicine he’d still cry and beg for it, I thought maybe if I insert it without medicine he will realize it doesn’t make him feel better anymore and forget about it. Well that was 2 weeks ago and he is only getting worse. He walks around me all day with his tail up presenting his rectum and trying to entice me. He is demanding insertions more and more often. Yesterday I caught him looking longingly at the turkey baster... When I sit he jumps in my lap purring and rubbing me affectionately. It was then in horror I realized my cat thinks I’m his gay lover, and that I’ve been sexually pleasing him for weeks now. Needless to say the sexual tension between us is palpable. How do I let my cat know that I’m not gay, but still like him as a friend?

And that's not even exclusive to the in-battle move animations, there are plenty scattered around the game that are horribly poor, and what's wrong with that is that they used animation as an excuse for cuts and shortcomings. But to have seen them cut things out for animations, a lot of which are already recycled, only for them not to even look that good, yeah, it begs a lot of questions. Also they took a load of battle moves out of SwSh, so...

Way shorter and more satisfying in an action game. In Pokemon after the attack animation you have to sit through the HP bar draining, the text telling you the enemy fainted, the enemy faint animation, maybe some failure of a witty line from the other trainer if they're an important character, then them sending out their next Pokemon. It may only be a few seconds but during that time you're not doing anything, not preparing the next attack or running to the next challenge or defending from the next enemy, you're just waiting.

Pokémon has stagnated brutally since XY came out in 2013. In the last 8 years, there has been 4 new main series games and 2 major DLC, yet mega evolution is still the last exciting thing to be introduced in this franchise.
I have been an ardent Pokémon fan for a good decade now and it sucks to see what the franchise has become. I have played and completed every mainline game from Platinum to USUM, but once the national dex controversy hit and after finding out megas would be cut entirely (absolutely the best gimmick and should’ve been a main series stay), I knew something was up. With the series' massive hardware upgrade, there’s no excuse for the games being as ugly as they are. The games are too easy (mandatory exp share and now affection as of BDSP) and the formula, outside of Legends: Arceus (god I hope that game ends up being good, graphics aside) remaining pretty much unchanged since forever. I will forever miss the gen 4-5 golden age and hope Pokémon can get their act together before they remake gen 5.
Gen 6 was my first game, and I’ve only played it along with Sun & Moon. I loved 6, and thought 7 was alright, but I never played any of the previous games. I’m also hoping that the Gen 5 remakes will capture the spirit of the original, because I would love to experience one of the best entries in the franchise.

I grew up with Gen 1 and 2 and that shit was easy at first, and then it really started to get more and more difficult for real, crossing your fingers you didn't get critical hit. And you couldn't overlevel your pokemons too much because then they wouldn't obey you anymore! It was all strategy and planning.

To be fair, modern Pokémon games could stand to be a bit more challenging. I understand that the core audience is young children, but kids aren't stupid. Kids figured out how to beat Red and Blue, back in the stone age, when Pokémon was uncharted territory and nobody consulted walkthroughs. Its safe to say, modern kids will figure this shit out. The first 2 hours can be easy, that's fine, but once they grasp the basic mechanics of the game there's no reason they can't start increasing the difficulty little by little, the same way this is done in good platformers. First introduce a new mechanic in a forgiving environment, then incorporate it into challenges that will kick your ass if you aren't smart. I think if Pokémon games were more willing to throw the player curve balls and put you up against opponents who are much stronger than you, it would force players to think outside the box and when you finally beat them it would be far more satisfying.
Of course a grass Pokémon has an advantage in the water gym, and it's fine to have one or two easy gyms at the beginning like that, but why not have gyms get harder as you go. I don't mean higher level opponents, that's obvious and the player can just grind until he is stronger, that's not genuine difficulty. I mean the water gym leader should have a contingency plan against grass types and electric types. Maybe she switches out to a dragon type as soon as you send out your grass Pokémon, and the dragon uses shit like Light Screen: now your grass moves do half the damage. How about a fast water Pokémon that will go first and kill your grass with a flying attack before he has a chance to attack. All I'm saying is make the player WORK for the win. Catch unsuspecting players off-guard and force them to plan their strategy using the in-game mechanics to their advantage. It doesn't have to be dark souls, it just has to present genuine obstacles for the player to overcome.
Exactly what I feel. I heard that the Crown Tundra DLC is harder, but I don’t want to have to pay to unlock hard mode. Even then, it’s a shorter story. I recently started playing Ori and the Blind Forest, and it handles new mechanics and easing into them extremely well, like you take a huge fall, but a new skill is at the bottom, and then platforms that require you to use that skill appear, and then you get up and progress through that section and others with that skill, and the other skills you’ve gotten. I just hope in the next gen game it’ll bring a good challenge.

Unlike Mario or Zelda, Pokemon games haven't evolved in terms of game design, but actually DEvolved and lost sight of what made the og titles a smash hit in favor of gimmicks and mini games. Last one I tried was Ultra Sun and I still can't believe how much boring BS they were able to shove in the players way of just playing the core game, which can be fun. The sheer amount of unskippable cutscenes and dialogue baffles me. Even in Metal Gear Solid games you can SKIP the cutscenes if you're sick of them. Not in Pokemon. At this stage Pokemon knows that the brand will push new titles even if the quality is poor. They have no reason to innovate. It's a shame.
@@bluetoon1499 100%. Mario Odyssey still has fun and original platforming, Zelda still has good puzzles and combat, but Pokémon has charm, but not the original aspects like good battles. Ultra Sun and Moon’s only good thing was that battle with that woman who fused with the Pokémon. That was original, that was cool, oh, Rainbow Rocket? Cool, what’s their deal? Oh, there’s nothing different between them and the original Team Rocket. Dope. X and Y was sorta cool too, Lysandre or whoever had like a mech suit or something. But Sword and Shield? The evil gang’s deal was that they just supported one of the other competitors, wow! How threatening and interesting! I bet the next gang will be like, daycare workers or something. Pokémon games are very quickly dwindling, not a slow decline, it’s like a relatively sloped cliff.
A Pokemon rom hack called unbound does something similar and honestly it's waayyy better. It removes the grind from the older games by introducing the exp. share mechanic from newer games but had the option to cap it so you can't overlevel(not to mention you can turn both of the share and the cap off) . And most gyms have some unique twist that makes you think outside the box. Like one gym with grass type has mist and the Pokemon are such that winning is much harder than spamming a move. And the electric gym has magnetism so all electric types levitate and you can't hit them with ground type. There's also a normal type gym which has inverse battle so the type matchups are completely reversed and there's no Pokemon type that is strong against that gym .
Not to mention selectable difficulties ranging from vanilla to kaizo . And there are other mechanics which the game a lot of fun

Also, why every gym leader doesnt have 6 pokemon is mind boggling...you already have advantage in the fact that your pokemon arent all water, fire, etc. so why they have like 3 or max 4 makes no sense whatsoever.
