This game exceeded my expectations, although after Sword and Shield they weren’t real high to begin with.
Only thing Sword and shield has was the R34 material
@@ABitDistant of 10 year old children
Can confirm ! All time low expectations !
Probably why I had so much fun in the game. Tho, it is still not what I'd call a good Pokemon game, but a fun one X)
@@KingExalted No way is nessa 10
I think this is exactly how I feel about Pokémon nowadays
1:37 song is "Pokémon Legends: Arceus OST - Conflict Resolved"
Never expected Berd to review this game, good job :)
This video subtley shows off how dunkey has always and consistently been one of the best editors out there his entire career. He's got magic hooves
nah, this? I can't believe this
Believe this ?? I can not
When he gets serious in reviews it's nice. It's earnest.
I still like his review on The Shining.
Andddd I can't believe the quality of editing from a playstation steering wheel
i mean there's 0 dislikes, its easy to see how insanely good he is
Dunkey what you and your editor did with blending the evolution theme songs as you showed the "evolution" of the pokemon games was artistically awesome. Just want you to know that I noticed it.
I freakin love this game !!! I’m too scared to finish it though 😅😭😭😭😭
This game really makes you feel like you’re in danger of being killed by an earthbending hippopotamus on steroids
I love how Strand-type has become a legitimate genre defining trait in gaming.
I think people used to call it "doing a Bethesda" until Death Stranding came along.
I mean, you even pick up people's lost cargo. Pokemon delivery man experience.
As an American I was blinded before now to the brilliance of strand type games since there were no guns
Treking long distances through mountainous terrain, establishing base camps in every area, making specific deliveries to isolated NPCs, retrieving the lost items of other players...
Open world having lackluster traversal is a tale as old as the genre itself, bro
Strand-type climbing.
Your genius is showing.
Dunkey man you a real one for using that tim Allen grunt
I agree with the final criticism, there should be more Donphan. Really lacking in elephants in general.
Mamoswine is in it
@@michaelshultz2199 Elephants just hit different than mammoths, man.
@@pokechatter It's not even really a mammoth. It's more of a hairy malformed swine.
While it has large tusks, it doesn't have the trunk or large ears that define elephants/mammoths.
@@MathijsBuster You're right.
Well do I have news for you.
4:05- "Where Kendrick wrote the code for the gameplay and Jake Paul wrote the story" This line killed me🤣
Lmao
I keep rewatching this just to hear dunkey talk about what he doesn't believe.
The evolution of the Pokemon games evolution song was a great touch to the many absolute list of the main line Pokemon games
The description of this as "Game Freak's second game" has just convinced this genwunner to give it a go. Thank you based god of game reviews.
@YeaMan you can't even spell page right how are you better?
genwunners are still the worst type of pokemon fans by far
@@notaspider4084 because they were done playing after one playthrough?
Prism was my favorite. Its like Gen1/2 with cool sprite animations and really decent music. Give it a go guys, it cost nothing. Have alotta time in prism on my old laptop.
This game is a CLASSIC...never played it yet tho.
This is one of my favorite PS1 games, maybe once they move to the extra storage on DVD-R for the upcoming Playstation 2, they'll be able to fit voice acting and more than 9 textures in there.
Honestly a necessary roast lil
It's exciting to see what the GameCube might have in store for sure!
I love that last comparison with Kendrick and J.paul
Really love the Strand type elements of this game
"Until eventually, the game sets you free"
Actual facts right here, I love this game so much but the dialogue drones on for way too long
Is there an end to the fucking tutorial and shitty dialogue?! 3 hours in and it still won't shut the fuck up.
@@thisisfyne lmao you’re getting there me and my friend thought the same thing
Yep, the dialog in Pokémon games is infuriating. The human characters are always the worst part of every game.
@@TexasRedBigIron It's unbearable, I'm not sure I can push through. It's almost worse than Skyward Sword.
@@thisisfyne funny you say that I’m playing both legends and that at the same time lmao
All the older games being ONE game and this being the second game it's best way to describe 25 years of Pokemon. Great work as always, Dunkey.
it's true though. i had so much fun with pokemon red when i was 6. and no other game came close to capturing the same excitement i felt playing it. i was just skimming through the games, doing the same shit as in red/blue. From gym to gym, then fighting an evil cooperation, then caching a couple of legendries
Also wrong tho lol
@@xzxmemoxzx Uh oh, I smell a person in denial.
@@rastafari2k3 Not true, In Gen 7 the gym leaders were called kahunas.
@@DemBigOlEyes it’s objectively wrong lol. You’re probably too young to know so I’ll help: Pokémon colosseum
Kickass editing on the montage scene
I hope they continue this series in other regions from the past and keep ironing it out!
This is the only Pokemon game I still want to play after 40+ hours, it's fantastic.
How though? It runs out of unique content in about 12 and there's nothing to do afterwards.
I spend most of my time doing missions, collecting people's bags and leveling up my pokemon instead of rushing to complete the main story.
@@WTFshae Complete the Dex, first game where you can actually do it without trading or event pokemons.
Just got it
40 hours in, still doing post game content, side quests, shiny hunting, exploring and filing the dex.
“There’s a little strand type climbing in there to give it some flavor…”
This my friends, is a perfect quote.
I will now be referring to Legends: Arceus exclusively as "Gamefreak's second game." Thank you, Dunkey
I'm glad you're able to get jumpscared by pokemon now, something about tryna catch a chingling and not noticing the alpha rhyperior behind you about to kick your ass is very cool to me
I love the hitting zombies with a stick sound from metal gear survive being used for the grookey branch poke, just one sound says so much, 10/10 sound effect choice lmao
It's amazing to see how Pokemon could branch out after its first game, adding to the fact that this is a strand-type game means we could potentially have a game where it's entirely a movie at this point
That Tim Taylor grunt at the start makes me wanna buy the Home Improvement box set.
The first 15 hours was a lot of fun, truly. The appeal starts to fade after a while, for me personally
The fact that the "every Pokemon game" montage uses the Evolution theme, and it changes to match the respective game being talked about, is a fantastic detail/"audio sight gag"
This game was such a fresh breath of air for the series I probably put a little too much value on it at first; it definitely has some glaring issues but it makes me excited to see where the franchise is headed
@YeaMan Yeah, and you also got reported for spam.
I'm excited for the franchise to move past Gamecube and start making some graphically intense Wii-level stuff! Maybe we'll even get 3 different trees!
This is where the franchise is headed. The next 16 games will be this exact game. Little by little they'll fix minor things and make the game feel better with minuscule QoL updates. By the 16th game it'll be the same game but with more polish. Then they'll make their third game.
nice dude
I haven’t had this much fun playing a Pokémon game since Pokémon ORAS
Out of every review you've made, this is the most accurate, respectable, and important review of Pokemon I've ever seen, and it is 4 minutes 20 seconds long.
nice
Personally I think his review of GTAV is a more important review of Pokemon. But I guess I’ll give you that this one is more accurate and respectable.
You're forgetting the 10/10 masterpiece review of Pokemon Eevee
Blaze it
He couldve called the review Smokemom Arceus
Man, Dunkey puts into words exactly what I've been feeling and didn't even realize as I played this game
Dunkey really puts into words my feelings about this game even though I never played it and never will play.
Dunkey naming all the installments from Pokémon.
This man is spitting straight fire.
The new video for S/V is gonna be fun.
You gotta love a game that incorporates some strand-type gameplay elements 👌
If even Dunkey likes this Pokemon game, then you know that it's a really good Pokemon game.
@YeaMan Yeah, and you also got reported for spam.
yeah but a really good pokemon game is like an average game by their standards
@@DamianS78 absolute facts. This game is mid, yet somehow the best 3D Pokémon game made (except ORAS, that one was the last well-put together game by Gamefreak)
i would agree with you, but you called it a bubbler, so i cannot, in good conscience, agree with you
Man told an entire review sarcastically. Very impressive dunky
Never stop making videos Dunkey. Favorite RUclipsr. Was waiting for this dunkview!
