Dunkey likes a whole 5 RPGs, undertale which is more of a turn based bullet hell, deltarune (see undertale), paper mario which is probly because of the combat being more engaging, persona 5 which has a really streamlined battle system and less focus on combat, and ff15 which had real time combat Safe to say dunkey just has a bias against turn based combat. (This is coming from a jrpg fan who also kinda dislikes turn based combat)
Makes me happy as a long-time DQ fan. Despite having a JRPG formula, it definitely stands out among the rest. Dragon Quest is turn-based combat done right (partly due to the fact it cemented generic JRPG tropes before any other series did)

I get that it ultimately becomes really frustrating, but it's also like the fun of going into a casino and hoping for a good roll, and in the end even if the odds are stacked against you you always end up having results. The dub is pretty good.
They added the Nanking denial mini-game. You can thank the music composer for that one.
so almost 3/4 of the NPCs are fit. It is way better than the US, then
For those who don’t know, a three out of five on the dunky scale basically means that the game is amazing
No that’s a four, he said a three “holds his attention to the end”
Yea if its a JRPG, just treat his rating like its 1 higher
No it doesn't? It means the game is good, but nothing special. Special and amazing games get a 4, while flawless mastapeeces get a 5
His rating is confusing. I prefer IGNs system of 6-10, 6 for **game doesn't even start** , 9+ for **the bugs aren't atleast gamebreaking.**
@@LTCloud9 why would use 6-10 when it's the same as 1-5

It makes me so happy seeing all these positive comments! Playing Dragon Quest 9 growing up it always made me kinda sad how like nobody was talking about it, I had never played a game so emotional, exciting and fun with such an amazing creative story. Now Dragon Quest 11 is here the series is getting so much more attention and I love it!
You can thank Bravely Default for that. Square Enix didn't think JRPGs were popular in the west (notice how Final Fantasy at that time tried distancing itself from turn-based combat more and more), until Bravely Default sold more copies in America than Japan. Now you have DQ11, basically a love letter to its own genre.
I got 9 for Christmas one year. Fell in love with the series then and there.
I hope 9 gets a remake. It should've gotten one on the 3ds but that time has passed

He only gives 3s to games he has fun playing so that's a pretty good recommendation for a JRPG as far as Dunkey is concerned lol
I personally like clearing out places in games like these. I figured it out back when I was playing Mario RPG as a kid: if you kill every enemy in each new screen, then you never have to "take time off" to level up since your doing it simultaneously as you explore. Anytime I return to a screen I ignore all the enemies, but not the first time.
At the end it should have said “more dunkeyquest XI echoes of an elusive age S definitive edition”
Featuring dante from the devil may cry game
I like what he put because it has a lot of filler. It's 6 letters worth of word stretched to take up the whole screen

he said Persona 5 is good too but he didnt do a full review
He liked FFXV a bit too. Other than that... yeah, Dunkey's just not an RPG type of guy. xD
He really has shitty opinions.
Dunkey likes a whole 5 RPGs, undertale which is more of a turn based bullet hell, deltarune (see undertale), paper mario which is probly because of the combat being more engaging, persona 5 which has a really streamlined battle system and less focus on combat, and ff15 which had real time combat
Safe to say dunkey just has a bias against turn based combat.

To be fair, I always liked DQ's handling of the grinding with the metal ennemies. Once you understand that these are the shit to grind, you start minmaxing your party arround the fact that you need ways to deal with these, understanding the many tools the game gives ya to beat them and once you encounter them it's always a big moment where you hold your breath and pray for good rng. I get that it ultimately becomes really frustrating, but it's also like the fun of going into a casino and hoping for a good roll, and in the end even if the odds are stacked against you you always end up having results. In any case it's way better than "lesser ennemy bashing"
