I have ordered today MacBook Air 512ssd gb, 8gb of ram, 8cpu and 8 gpu... That was after a detailed study and I hope it will be a good option for me as an undergraduate👍
Great video! I had both a Pro and an Air. I lean on internal speakers a lot more than most. I don't like to have airpods in when I'm working or just chilling. I ended up keeping the Pro because of that. It cost a little more, but I had also upgraded it to 16 Gig of RAM. I had an issue with it and was going to return it, but it ended up being a software bug. I had bought the air to replace it. Like you, it is super impressive. I wouldn't have been able to keep it longterm with those tinny speakers. However, if you don't use internal speakers, the air is a no brainer.
I'm kinda worried whether the pro will last longer than the air because I want one that can survive like 5+ years and I had an ipad air 2 that survived like6 years now I want something similar
I returned a Macbook Air M1 with 16GB because of random keyboard glitches (without my touching the keyboard the login password box would fill with hidden characters, or when clicking a menu item the cursor would scroll rapidly to the bottom of the menu and keep juddering). Also, internet speeds were atrocious even after I tried all the fixes I could find. So - growing pains. I loved the MBA M1 generally but could not imagine hauling the blasted machine back and forth to the Apple store and having my work interrupted. I'm thinking of replacing it with a used iPad Pro 12.9 - it may not do as much, and it may do some things badly by design (file management!), but what it does well, it does it reliably. The form factor is kinda neat for working casually (not straight-up-endicular in a chair). I know an iPad can't compete with a Macbook for advanced video editing, but for moderately simple work there's a certain charm in simplicity. A friend of mine creates beautiful videos on her iPhone with VideoLeap and InShot - so I figure I might as well have fun and be free of MacOS/M1 bugs. With the first-gen M1 machines there's a constant insecurity - WILL Apple ever fix this bug. IS it fixable at all? Does Apple really care about the bugs in its headlong rush to bring new glitzy gadgets to market? Or does Apple just wait for the outcry to swell before it pays attention - does it use its users to debug its products?
Hi, would a casual use such as converting videos formats from avi to mp4, long hour video lectures or zoom calls, browsing the web and office be enough to thermal throttle this?

I noticed after updating to BigSur, audio cuts out randomly, and external devices cut off for a second on my MBP 2018. It might not be the M1 model but BigSur.
Great video. I ended up selling my Mac mini that I hardly used anymore and got the MBP M1 16gb ram and 1tb for 2/3 of what I sold the Mac mini 2018. This machine is so worth it if you have an intel Mac that is a couple years old as the Intel Macs have not yet started to depreciate too much and if you wait there is a really good chance that your 13 inch fully loaded 2019 or 2018 Mac will lose most if not all of its value. I got the Pro for the fan even though I have yet to hear it when I am editing hours of footage. Its more of a peace of mind. Also I don't know why people hate the Touch Bar, have they used it with Final Cut Pro or customized it? its like an addition of keyboard shortcuts and makes so much sense when typing. I hope this helps anyone who is on the verge of choosing which M1 is for them.
Through the use of an iPad and an iPhone, over time the device loses its power, speed, and some of its performance, so how does this apply to the Mac Air m1?? this is the question?
Anyone else notice the keys vibrate and make buzzing sounds etc when the MacBook reaches a certain frequency on high volumes? When it's past 70% or so volume it can buzz and such sometimes. Especially noticeable for me at the start of Radiohead's No Surprises. I assume it's because the laptop is so slim and the speakers are so close to the keys, still a disappointing design flaw nonetheless. Aside from that I love this laptop.
Watched tons of reviews and this is my favorite by far. I mean, you didn't focus only on the good stuff, you also told us about bugs and glitches. That's the type of review I like! I'm a Mac owner since the rainbow apple logo and I own an iMac late 2009, my warrior. Unfortunately I'll have to upgrade, get a new one and I wanna know which is better: a new iMac that will stay by my side for years to come or a Macbook that will follow me everywhere I go?
I got the Macbook Pro M1, I originally was using a 2015 Macbook Pro. All I can say is wow what a difference in performance. Also still have the 2015 Macbook Pro and still use that on the side but this M1 feels so much faster, also the battery life is much better.
Hello Jimmy, I've had problems as well with the mouse pad freezing as well, I'm so glad you mentioned that. This is also my first time buying any MacBook ever. You mentioned that it will improve, does apple also do updates on software bugs? because I was going to return it and switch it for the same version because I assumed that it was a factory error in this specific laptop.
Tempting, but I just upgraded my late 2011 Macbook Pro with a SSD and it runs fine with basic web browsing. I heard they're redesigning the Macbook end of year so I'll wait to see what they have in store! I am curious to see how long I can use my Macbook before it is unusable or breaks down. Coming up on 10 years at the end of this year! Quality machines
I'm a windows user who just bought a Macbook Air M1 about 3 hours ago, I think I'll like it! I consider my purchase as an investment for about 6 - 10 years. This is a jump from a 2013-ish Dell Latitude e6320, as I wanted something a little more up to date for the next good while to come.
As a student I bought the base model of the MacBook Air, and I can probably say its one of the best pieces of all round tech that I have owned. Would definitely recommend it to someone else who is looking for basic stuff such as standard video and photo editing, stay-at-home school/work and other stuff.

@@joanamarqs The 8gb version along with the M1 chip can handle most of your tasks, such as video editing, streaming and other basic stuff, so the 8GB version should be highly sufficient. For long term id say get a mac. Ive had a mac air for 9 years now since 2012 though i cant game on it, its still very fast for school/work/everyday use or just browsing with 2-4 apps open. Never experience lag unless i push it ver hard or apps that use 3/4 of my storage. I also had an asus from 2017 with a better chip an i5 7gen and booting is slow most of the time just after booting my cpu usage is 90% and its very slow, zoom calls froze ect. My guess its because it uses a hard drive instead of an ssd because i can hear it spinning quite loud now note that i dont play games one it just ms works like words and zoom meetings, and movies. Im not saying that others are bad might just be mine thats like that and windows isnt as optimised like an macos in a mac. Also please do get a bigger storage because the os on my device is ~30gb
@MrInEthical I'm honestly not that bothered whether it's Apple or not, the only thing that sways me is the fact that I quite enjoy using macOS. I mostly use my laptop for word processing and a few other basic things.
For a computer engineer student, which struggling with artifical intelligence, cyber security etc. is M1 Air is a enough choose? Or should I keep saving money and go for m1 pro version?
As far as I know, M1 Air is more powerful than last generation MacBook Pro. I'm not a owner myself, but people used way weaker machines to study the same for years... I don't think you would struggle with a M1 in your studies. If you ever need a faster machine it's not a MacBook Pro (M1 or not) that would do it for you, but maybe to rent an insanely powerful VPS on Google Cloud, AWS or Azure for some hours, or maybe your to use your college/university computer lab clusters for the job.
This will sound crazy, but I still use final cut 5 on a 2006 MacBook Pro... I know. But I still love it. Would I be able to use that version of final cut on the M1? I tried using the latest version and man it’s completely different. Would take me some time to get used to.

Can anyone explain why Apple does not invest on improving the front camera on MacBooks
When will Air get design update? 🤔
it's my first Mac. I am only a bit disappointed with the battery life. I have to use it for online classes, so that's hours of Zoom/Teams/Skype. I also use Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The battery does not last all day long. Can anyone tell me if you should only charge it when it is really low on battery, or if you can leave it charging all day while you use it without it screwing up the battery cycles
Not sure if it’s just my machine I find when I unplug from power source. It would freeze a bit. At least the RUclips tab on sadari
I have ordered today MacBook Air 512ssd gb, 8gb of ram, 8cpu and 8 gpu...
That was after a detailed study and I hope it will be a good option for me as an undergraduate👍
Haw is your macbook air still doing well?
Great video! I had both a Pro and an Air. I lean on internal speakers a lot more than most. I don't like to have airpods in when I'm working or just chilling. I ended up keeping the Pro because of that. It cost a little more, but I had also upgraded it to 16 Gig of RAM. I had an issue with it and was going to return it, but it ended up being a software bug. I had bought the air to replace it. Like you, it is super impressive. I wouldn't have been able to keep it longterm with those tinny speakers. However, if you don't use internal speakers, the air is a no brainer.
Good tip. Thanks.
OK, that does it. I'm getting one.
I’m waiting for the 14” MBP
And the IP13Pro I can’t wait
Just got it😍
@@IDK123LOL it'll probably come around October which is too late
Or does Apple just wait for the outcry to swell before it pays attention - does it use its users to debug its products?
if it doesn't have a fan how it's not 9verheating?
Final cut pro randomly cutting audio happens to me with my intel mac too and it sucks 😞
I’m getting this 2 days later and I’m so excited it’s amazing
What's it like?

Hi, would a casual use such as converting videos formats from avi to mp4, long hour video lectures or zoom calls, browsing the web and office be enough to thermal throttle this?
@@samuel99813 I am a Highschool student and I will be using this for my online classes between 9am-4pm and as far as I know you can use it for long hour video lectures etc. but i haven’t really tried converting video formats from avi to mp4. But this macbook is very good and converting is casual so i think it would work
I’m confused a little. You said they are _not prone to scratching or denting_ , just a word stumble? I do that _a lot_ .
Oh wow. Didn’t even notice that! Yep. Word stubble. They are prone!
@@JimmyTriesWorld Great review. It happens! Cheers.
Hi! Is it possible edit one hour video 4k 60fps in the macbook air m1 8/256GB with final cut? The videos are from the drone mavic or a gopro 8.
I noticed after updating to BigSur, audio cuts out randomly, and external devices cut off for a second on my MBP 2018. It might not be the M1 model but BigSur.
Will the minor software issues be fixed as you continue using it by updating?
How are you editing 10 min 4K 60fps vids on a 256 hd?
Are you aware of the SSD issues with this? If ur editing 4k on this, you probably want to look into this before your mac dies in 2 years.
Do you think that 4 hour zoom meetings plus readings and research writing will make it hot?
Yes just because it doesn’t have fans
That's it, I'm upgrading from my early 2015 Mac Air 128gb ssd 4gb ram to the M1 Mac Air base model
I find it very odd that they removed the brightness buttons.
@8:02 That sentence alone required like 2 GB RAM
Thanks for the video
Please do M1 MacBook Air get hot when using it for a long time?
You used prone wrong. These are prone to scratching if I understand you correctly.
What's your Instagram 🥺
Tempting, but I just upgraded my late 2011 Macbook Pro with a SSD and it runs fine with basic web browsing. I heard they're redesigning the Macbook end of year so I'll wait to see what they have in store! I am curious to see how long I can use my Macbook before it is unusable or breaks down. Coming up on 10 years at the end of this year! Quality machines
I got mine yesterday it crashed once right after I downloaded some apps other than that I'm blown away with this machine
I've been binging your vids. Great stuff man. Wonderfully presented, genuine and valuable content. Keep it up!
@Laura Brown no.

Is it best for graphic design and Multimedia I mean video eating?
I'm a windows user who just bought a Macbook Air M1 about 3 hours ago, I think I'll like it! I consider my purchase as an investment for about 6 - 10 years. This is a jump from a 2013-ish Dell Latitude e6320, as I wanted something a little more up to date for the next good while to come.
i have to switch out my early 2020 air but i didn't realize the m1 lost the backlit keyboard :((
you can adjust them bro. search it on yt a video on how to turn on backlit keyboard for m1 macbook air
As a student I bought the base model of the MacBook Air, and I can probably say its one of the best pieces of all round tech that I have owned. Would definitely recommend it to someone else who is looking for basic stuff such as standard video and photo editing, stay-at-home school/work and other stuff.
i only use my computer for light tasks, but i usually have a lot of tabs opened. do you recommend the 8gb or 16gb?
@@joanamarqs definitely get the 16gb if you can but 8gb is good enough
@@joanamarqs The 8gb version along with the M1 chip can handle most of your tasks, such as video editing, streaming and other basic stuff, so the 8GB version should be highly sufficient. But then again, only if you have a more wider budget I would recommend the 16GB version.
If you need a more detailed explanation, I would recommend watching this video

Are the issues something that a software update can fix in near future?
As a student, this device really appeals to me, however, I was wondering if there were any other devices that would last me for five years with similar capabilities?
@Owen Gordon Thanks, it definitely appeals for its speed. I think I'll pick one up when they start appearing on the second hand market.
@@cupcakeobsession Thanks, my main concern has always been how long it’ll last.
@MrInEthical I'm honestly not that bothered whether it's Apple or not, the only thing that sways me is the fact that I quite enjoy using macOS. I mostly use my laptop for word processing and a few other basic things.
@MrInEthical Thanks for the advice, I guess it's just piece of mind in that I know what I'm getting a good all round device.
At 3:30 you meant to say "they ARE prone to denting and scratching".
i dont have this issue that you talked about !! it working just fine to me
How hard was it to adjust to a smaller 13" screen?
Got my first MacBook Air for Mother's Day. My only question is where do you put the stickers?
i have a 2015 mac, i can decide if i should upgrade now and improve performance or wait a few months but have a slower machine.. :(
There will be other M series chips this year and I personally think they are worth waiting for.
I got one a couple of weeks ago, but the keyboard is wearing off really fast. I can already see some keys becoming “shiny”. Is that normal?
2:50 what’s TSA?
Could you help me decide will MacBook Air M1 be enough for freelance Virtual assistant jobs?
I upgraded from my 2015 MB Air and so far I’ve been enjoying it in my first week of using it. Was even able to sell my 2015 Air for $340 locally.
Did you get the MBA base model?
Did you say keyboard doesn’t have a backlight anymore?
Is a fully optioned M1 Air better than my older 2016 MacBook Pro that’s also all spec out? I’m a light user but need speed!
M1 macbook air screen a bit dim compare to other macbook machine and the speaker sound also not to loud ... both are noticeable .. I am using the USD 1299 macbook air ... however performance is amazingly fast
Should i buy the intel macbook 2020 or the m1. I need it for school and every Programm the school gives us needs to run on that laptop
Does it actually work for something other than photo editing ?!
What kind of backpack is that? Might be a nice bag for my new M1 MacBook Pro. Thx
