wow, she got it .most do not catch that he died
You're dead on with that. Most don't, which is kinda shocking. This young lady is a bit sharper than most of the reactors.
@@LoganTravisDark
She was listening closely!
Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is country music.
Not like today.
Amen
The first line tells you all you need to know. "He said I'll love you, till I die. "
he said he would love her till he dies. first line of the song.
You hit the nail on the head about the music from the past. There was always a story to the music, something you could connect to. I hope the older music never fades away.
“This time he’s over her for good”...sighs! So deep
George Jones struggled with alcohol dependency his whole life, his career suffered. He did not want to record the song, “No one will by it it’s too damn’ sad”, it was a monster hit and revitalized his career. Argued by many to be the greatest country/western song ever. Maya Angelou once said “This song tells the story of unrequited love in a little more than three minutes better than some four thousand page novels. “
When it was finished, George told his producer Billy Sherrill, "Well you've got your song, but nobody's gonna buy that morbid son of a bitch".
I saw George a year before he died in a pretty small place. The first half sorta sucked but I think he nipped the bottle during the break cause the 2nd half was about as good a performance I've ever seen. Not many dry eyes when it ended.
And Maya was right.
Yes, he stopped loving her the day he passed. Beautiful reaction as usual Empress. 😊🌹
Absolutely. Thanks Magnolia 🤗
Good for you, girl. I've seen many young reactors take a swing and a miss on this song. But you resisted reading the information posted on the video and concentrated on the lyrics that he loved her till his death. Great song. Nice reaction.
After reading your comment I went looking for a Bunt or Walk..... and All I seen was the Coach crying :) One couple Almost made it to first base
It’s crazy. I don’t get it but you’re absolutely right. If they don’t tear up they didn’t get it.
Bravo!
That song just tears your heart out. The first line sets it up perfectly. "He said I'll love you till I die."
First Line of the Song. "He said I'll love you until I die !"
The amazing thing about this song is that it was released in the early 80s, became an instant classic, and people will swear it came out in the 60s.
That is about right
Remember the first line: "He said I'll love you 'til I die" ... then 'he stopped loving her today'
Every time I hear this song a tear comes to my eyes. They don't make music anymore that tears your heart out or brightens your day.
Empress, I had the same reaction the first time I heard this tearful, soulful song. George Jones deeply sad mournful voice makes me feel the pain this man had went through before he died. Thank you
Yes, you are exactly right, Empress. He passed away and that's the only thing that could make him stop loving her. I'm glad you get to enjoy yesterday's music today through the medium of recording. Great reaction, as always. Here's to your next one. 🙏🙂❤️
Thank you Russell 🤗
i knew that beautiful smile would fade away as the song continued on.
Of so many reactors to this song, you are one of the few who got it. I know. I know. It hits hard, that line that says they carried him away. 😪
This hit her like a ton of bricks what emotions what a song what vocals no wonder George didn't want to record this!!
Great reaction Empress. I've said it before, this is the most beautiful sad country song ever recorded. George Jones is a GOAT
Your face tells the story of this song....beautiful.
The Empress pays close attention and gets it right away. Love it. Nice review of a great classic song.
That’s why he was the best at tearing a heart out.
The first line of the song. "He said I'll love you till I die" the last line "He stopped loving her today".
I live the same story right now,its been 16 years since She left,I will love Her till I die. :-)
the price of love is pain and grief - he stopped loving her today 💔
Beautiful reaction. Many reactions have the listener completely oblivious to what's happening in the song.
George Jones has the finest country voice ever. Horrific childhood pain pours from George's heart as he tells his friend's story. Bobby Braddock's beautiful song gives George the chance to touch all listeners as deep as you can feel. God Bless George Jones. RIP.
Fantastic! Usually it takes more than one listen...most don't realize that the entire meaning of the song is summed up in the very first line of the song.
It took me years to understand this song, my mother died at this time and I a teenager, didn't understand that he could stop loving her today. I still have trouble if I think about it. Guess I am slack, I dont know!!
I agree with you the old country music told stories I wish we could have good music like that again. I drove tractor trailer for 18 years and a lot of nights trying to push on and get down the road when I should have been sleeping the old guys keep me awake and rolling.
Short song, but one that packs a huge emotional punch.
i recall that when the song first came about, a friend walked into my ofiice, and said to me if i had heard this tearjerker, when i did listened to it,we both sat down and ponder it..this is country song story telling.we can died from also a broken heart.
Thank You darling. You got it! My friend and next door neighbor's buddy (RIP Bill Chilsom) wrote the song (Bobby Braddock) from Auburdale fl.
That a girl. You got it. Greatest voice in history.
Your correct. Most reaction videos are so bad because someone spends so much time talking and not listening. Then they don't actually hear what these songs are about.
Hey, Empress Joy-Jean! ... I was scrolling through my favorite song and saw you. You're right. He loved her until it was his time... death... You picked a good one. "He Stopped Loving Her Today" is the greatest country song ever written--recorded by George Jones. This is why you'll see many singers perform it... The two writers that wrote this song offered it to Mr. Jones, but it was declined. A few years later George and his recording company contacted the writers, for they wanted to record it; but under one condition--it was made longer. This is how the speaking part of the song came about... I agree with you. As a writer, the lyrics are the best part of country music. That's what sets this genre apart from all the rest. Thank you for taking a few minutes to visit a special moment in time for country.
Is, why need a Kleenex this song is a tear-jerker trust me I cried too.
One of my all time favorite country songs.
Empress Joy J, thanks for reacting to this song. In my opinion, the possum is the GOAT of country music...
realdeal
Another great reaction from the most beautiful lady on youtube.
The first lyrics of the song are "He said I'll love you till I die." Today he stopped loving her because he passed. In the old south when someone died they placed a black wreath on the front door of the house..
I've watched a dozen of the reactions to this song. You are one of the few who gets what the song is about. Most people reacting to the song stop the music every thirty seconds and start talking so, of course, they don't get the meaning because they have lost their train of thought.
Smart and beautiful.
And liked country. 👍
George's manager and producer had to literally argue with him to sing this song. He went into the studio several times and cut several different tracks. Then he got up and left. He told them the song was too sad and would never sell. He didn't want to have a monumental "loser" on his album. But, they talked him into finishing the song and as it turns out, it was his greatest hit of all time. He Stopped Loving Her Today. It was a very powerful song, sung by a very powerful singer. George did a fantastic job. I was lucky enough to see him in concert in a small club and although the acoustics weren't that great, his voice was simply fantastic. I'll never forget when he sang that song. I literally had tears in my eyes, even after having heard the song many times before. You reaction seemed very genuine and sincere. I applaud your reaction. And, you are right. The songs of today pale in comparison of the songs in a bygone era. If you haven't done so, I urge you to react to the Righteous Brothers song, "Unchained Melody". I guarantee, you will like it. And, its older than George's song. It was produced in 1965.
"Well you've got your song, but nobody's gonna want to buy that morbid son of a bitch".
Joy
George Jones was married to and sang together with the beautiful Tammy Wynette.
(The Love of His Life)
She divorced him and even took his band when she left. He always put on a good face although you could see it in his eyes that he never got over her. He always said this song was not about her, but everyone knew it was.
Greatest country song of all time
Placing a wreath on the door of the deceased in a Southern custom
The price of love is pain and grief.
In your second or third language you understood this song. I watch this from the American 30 and under crowd and they think "he just got over her". Would you mind moving to the U.S.? We need more like you!
Finally. Last 4 reactors failed to get that he died but finally someone got it!!!!
If you want more of this type of music then check out two songs by Marty Robbins, "El Paso" & "Feleena". Each songs gives a different point of view of the same story.
First line says it, “he said I’ll love you till I die”
Finally someone got that he passed way. So many reactions that I have watched did not get this.
Country at its finest. They don't make music like this anymore 😔 RIP
yepp she got it, most of the NTG,s dont even know what he means.
You are my favorite girl. Hence, rewatching a 2 year old reaction.
George Jones, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Pardon. Was my first concert. The pavilion in Houston Texas. Great video.
Yes dear....he loved her till he died. Jim Reeves "Four Walls".
Great reaction, thank you for listening to the song and picking up the meaning of it. George has several hits, give "The Grand Tour" a listen, and "Golden Ring" which is a duet with one of his ex-wive's Tammy Wynette, and also "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?". Thanks again
Love George Jones
You are correct. He dies today. Every time I need a good cry, I put on this song.
Country music often tells a story.
HIs friend just died... He stopped loving her today.. He could not forget her..NEVER forget her.. He kept praying she'd come back.. Every day, Every night... He woke up with her on his mind, he went to bed with her on his mind.. and EVEN IN HIS Dreams he could not escape her.... I know how this is..
Fun fact, I met George Jones as a cable guy in Tennessee. I fixed his internet and phone service and he offered me a signed picture...lol... HE was so damn cool, but his wife was 1000% cooler, was an awesome time, he was a down to earth guy, just a grumpy old man getting put in his place by his wife, was a fun 2 hrs for me.
P.S. I have pictures from Possum Trot incase you don't believe me...
Yes he died. This song rips your heart out.
Best song I ve ever heard
Thank you for knowing, many react to this song and don't realize what the lyrics say, they get so involved in the lost love and don't really understand.
others have probably already mentioned it, but back then, especially in the south, a black wreath was often put on the door of a house when someone in the home had died. even back when it came out most of us didn't catch onto what happened until the line "they placed a wreath upon his door", but then we knew.
True Country Music!
"The lyrics from the past is nothing like the lyrics we have today" .... the understatement of a thousand years.
This song is one of the best of all times
Ya, the old 'Possum done hit another person square in the feelers.
The two keyines in this song are the first twoines.
"He said I'll love you till I die. She said you'll forget in time."
She left him, and he spent the last 10 - 20 years of his life missing her... reading old love letters, and hoping she would come back. What a miserable, lonely life she left him with.
It was his choice to keep her picture on the wall and her love letters on his bedside table.
His friends should have had an intervention. 😀
Some times You love someone no mater what.Even if they leave You
The greatest, & saddest, Country song of all time.
Another great country song you should check out is Those Little Things by Patsy Cline
In the American south, we put a wreath on the front door so others know somebody in the household has died. Where I live in North Carolina, it will be white, but could be black in other areas. I've listened to this song and many others by George for decades, but this hits harder now than when I was younger. Maybe because I've lost a few myself.
This is true country. We have almost no one now who measures up.
"He said I'll love you till I die"
This a happy song abut the inevitable
Great reaction empress, you nailed this one.
Cool that you're going down that country music road. George Jones is an iconic country music legend
😍 Love your outfit and hair in this reaction! Such a gorgeous woman! Love your honest reaction here, as always.
He loved her to the very end
Death separates but Love is our future!! Thank you mi amor

Awesome reaction beautiful lady
Check out ''The Last Letter'' George Jones good song
Thank you you beautiful soul your awsome
The Start of the song the old man says he will love her til the day he dies.... I always Asked the same thing when I was little kid DID HE DIE ? I think it’s a Son going to his Dads Funeral and it was his Mother that left years ago also shows up at the funeral....
This song brings to mind a person walking through life, and you see them there, they talk with you, but, they are really some other place or some other time. Their memories keep them in the present and give them hope. But, the the glimmer of hope you might see in their eyes and the smile on their face, is only there because they remember the past and how much they want their present to be like that! So, so, sad!
Listen to George Jones- The Grand Tour " song 🎵
George Jones pure classic country!
as someone suffering from a seriously broken heart. this song means so much to me. I know how he feels, I guess that I have about 20+ years of suffering left to go.
Next song. Love Me by Collin Raye
