Finally, someone got it> I've listened to it seems like a hundred reviews of this song and hardly anyone understood it. Finally someone got the meaning
I used to do social work for a home healthcare agency. I also did hospice care. I had a client who’s wife passed away when they were in their 40’s. He was 75 and was on hospice. I was his caregiver. They didn’t have any children, he loved this song and one of the last things he asked me was to make sure this was played at his funeral. He said “I’ve been mourning her for so long, I can’t remember the last time I went to sleep without tears.” I made sure they played it and I sobbed through the entire thing. I’m so grateful they’re together again.
George Jones was completely off my radar, but really like this. What a heartbreaking love song. There's an amazing bit here during the first chorus where your face goes from a big smile to shock as you realize he has died. (2:09) George's voice reminds me of Charlie Rich and his 1973 hit "The Most Beautiful Girl." Both songs about lovers you can never get over. And it looks from the number of views, George has pulled in quite a bit of interest to your channel.
Watching reactions to this song is always fascinating, to see how the listener responds to the revelation that he did indeed love her until death, or in some cases fail to grasp that. Thank you for posting your first time listening experience.
Well remember this is real country music and good old country always tells a story and many times a sad story. I loved your reaction and am subscribing right now. Thanks for playing what has been called the greatest country song ever.
I've watched dozens of reactions to this song because I love it so much and it can still make me shed a tear or two. This was my favorite reaction so far. Good on you, mate.
A true icon legend…he won a Grammy 2 years in a row for this song….HE’S the MAN! It took over a 100 takes to get the opening line bc he was so drunk…1980 hit
you'd be surprised how many "reactors" don't get this song. I can scarcely make it through this song without tearing up. Thanks for your reactions. Loved it. New sub. Edit: Here in the Southern USA, placing a black wreath on the door indicates someone in the home has passed.
The song was recorded 1979 and released 1980. It starts with "I'll love you till I die" brilliant lyrics. I just love great story telling songs. Backing vocals The Jordanaires, the soprano is Millie Kirkham and on harmonica Charlie McCoy all known for working with Elvis and many other artists. I think Elvis would have done a great cover of this beautiful heartbreaking song. Great reaction Seph and thanks.👌
George Jones, the 'Rolls-Royce of Country Music', known for his unique voice and phrasing. George and Tammy (Wynette) was one of the first true power couples of Country and made magic together on stage. ❤ Their marriage ended, but their music outlasted it.
If it makes you feel better, George Jones felt the same way about the song as you did. He was in the depth of alcoholism. He had almost given up on his career. They pushed him to release the song. He made the recording and said "Good look selling this depressing bastard". Then it revived his career and he had to keep singing it.
“The Grand Tour” is another George Jones heart wrenching tune. I’d really like to introduce you to an artist new to you, perhaps, but one who is considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. I mentioned that to him one time, and he put his head down and, “But I only do ONE thing!” He was as humble as he was talented. Here is Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble doing a great old Blues piece, “Texas Flood.” Don’t look away…. ruclips.net/video/KC5H9P4F5Uk/видео.htmlsi=qV4fLYSY7AtfXAci
We all had the same reaction the first time we heard this song. Another great George Jones song to react to is The Corvette Song. it leaves you in a much different mood than this one!
I thought that was going to happen to me? Had to put my beloved Mr. BoJangles down a few years back Male mutt mix. He was bat-shit crazy? No one wanted him? He would dance and prance around the perimeter of the yard on his tippy-toes. People would come over, and he would bark and his eyeys would roll around in his head and spittle fly from his mouth? People would ask if he was ok? LOL! ROFLMAO? He was harmless. He would just suddenly stop and go around the yard again. Very unpredictable, yet very cool at the same time. We sometimes had a love/not really hate? mis-understanding? Had him for 15 years. He was like 4-5 when I got him. When he had to finally be put down, the vet people came out, put a blankie on the ground and I cuddled with him. I laid on the ground next to him crying for an hour. Family he came from didn't feed him very often, and he had to eat snow in the winter if he wanted water. I think he knew how good he had it with me, I hope so.
You have to listen to, Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby (featurning Alison Krauss) another tear jerker song! 😪 This song was written by a friend of the man the song was written about. So true life story song. 😪
Congratulations we are all grateful you are of the 1% that actually understand the simple song, you would not believe how many just cannot, And 0% figure out his other song, the grand tour but we are going to try have faith in you , you could be the one!! 😂
Any woman who gets that he's dead as soon as he says, "He stopped loving her today" is too smart to be with me. But any woman who doesn't get it by the songs end is too dumb for me.
This is what sets Country music apart from other genres, the songs tell stories. Some happy some sad, but that is life. Anyway, the thing is nobody loves like this today, reason is every time you have a different sexual partner it comes at a cost, for you soon become so hardened you can no longer have a lasting bond.
I am a version of this song in female form. I tell my friends and family that that man i love till I die is not allowed to show up after im gone. Sorry there's been over 25yrs for that obviously he hasnt bothered and shouldn't.
next listen to Doug Supernaw 21 to 17. Sometimes you never get over your first love. Make sure and watch the video not just the song ruclips.net/video/Ez8N0Kj8d5I/видео.html
It's basically a story about how George loved Tammy Wynette. The line, "The placed a wreath upon his door' refers to placing a wreath on the door of the casket. George and Tammy were married, but they divorced and even though he remarried, everyone knew he never stopped loving Tammy. He wrote this as a tongue-in-cheek statement of how his love for her would never end. Another good one you should react to is "Wherever You Will Go" by The Calling
Actually, the tradition, which pretty much died out by the 1960s, was to place a black wreath on the deceased person's front door, so people passing by would know what happened to him.
No. He didn't write the song, nor did he want to record it. In the deep south until recently, put a wreath on the door of the house to announce there had been a death in the house and to honor the dead.
Loved your reaction. The look on your face when it hit you. 👍
Best country song ever written Hands down.
Very heart wrenching song!
So many people react to this and don't catch the meaning of the song. Great reaction, loved when it hit you that he died.
Great reaction
Finally, someone got it> I've listened to it seems like a hundred reviews of this song and hardly anyone understood it. Finally someone got the meaning
Congratulations on being one of just a small amount of you tubers that actually understood the song for some reason.
I know!!
In 3 short minutes, George takes you on a journey of a man's entire lifetime. Tragically wonderful...
Hahahaha, First line, I'll love you till I die, and slow mournful music through out song....and so many reactors are surprised that he's dead.
It's just a saying, thats why so many of us dismiss it xD

The tragedy of love can be so overwhelming beautiful. Hella story there
OMG, this is the first time a YT comment made me cry. God Bless.

😊 You know you remind me of the singer Gary Broker from the group 'Procol Harum'.
George Jones was completely off my radar, but really like this. What a heartbreaking love song.

Its on my personal playlist haha i love this song. Even on multiple listenings it just keeps getting better 😍
Excellent reaction man! You got the story quick.
Yes, he died. He said..."I'll love you till I die"...and he meant it. At least you got the meaning before the end of the song. Some people don't.
It used to be a custom, especially in the US south, to place a wreath on the door of the recently deceased.
Best country song ever written.
This isn't horrid, this is COUNTRY. It's all there in the first and last lines: "He said 'I'll love you, til I die'... He stopped loving her today."
I've watched dozens of reactions to this song because I love it so much and it can still make me shed a tear or two. This was my favorite reaction so far. Good on you, mate.
I've watched many reactions to this song and I actually love the reactions it's the same we all feel the same that's the human heart

A true icon legend…he won a Grammy 2 years in a row for this song….HE’S the MAN! It took over a 100 takes to get the opening line bc he was so drunk…1980 hit
First heard this song more than forty years ago.
Sometimes life is tragic. We need songs for those times too.
you'd be surprised how many "reactors" don't get this song. I can scarcely make it through this song without tearing up. Thanks for your reactions. Loved it. New sub.
Edit: Here in the Southern USA, placing a black wreath on the door indicates someone in the home has passed.
This is such an emotional song on a second and multiple listenings because you know what is coming 😢
The first line says it all, "He said I'll Love you till I die"
Sad but beautiful ❤
I love that you got it.. the first line says it
The song was recorded 1979 and released 1980. It starts with "I'll love you till I die" brilliant lyrics. I just love great story telling songs. I could definitely see Elvis singing this song! 😍
This is the greatest country "love" song of all time.
It's neck and neck with Kathy Mattea's, "Where have you been"
The only two songs that actually made me tear up after first listen
GOOD JOB.
Next George Jones tear-jerker, The Grand Tour 👍👍👍
First Line of the Song - He said I'll love you till I die !!
George Jones, the 'Rolls-Royce of Country Music', known for his unique voice and phrasing. George and Tammy (Wynette) was one of the first true power couples of Country and made magic together on stage. ❤ Their marriage ended, but their music outlasted it.
George Jones is iconic!
They placed a wreath upon his door. Placing a wreath on the deceased door was common practice at the time.
We still do that in the South.
Yes we all have that one.
Not many get it first time through. Good reaction.
❤❤ Loved your Reaction!
The first line tells the story

American country music as it used to be.
We all had the same reaction the first time we heard this song.
Another great George Jones song to react to is The Corvette Song. it leaves you in a much different mood than this one!
Probably the most beautiful country song ever. Give a listen to “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground” by Willie Nelson.
Dying of a broken heart is real. 😢
I thought that was going to happen to me? Had to put my beloved Mr. BoJangles down a few years back Male mutt mix. He was bat-shit crazy? No one wanted him? He would

The mortician put a smile on his face. Be careful who you fall in love with
You want one that will dampen the eyes, Listen to Johnny Cash's cover of 9 inch nails "Hurt".
The first line says it, He said I'll love you till I die
It came out in the early 90's
You have to listen to, Brad Paisley, Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby (featurning Alison Krauss) another tear jerker song! 😪 This song was written by a friend of the man the song was written about. So true life story song. 😪

I was reading the comments on this one and yepppp it does seem that this song goes over the top of a lot of peoples heads haha
csme out in 1980
You should listen to some of Garth Brooks songs. The Dance, If Tomorrow never comes, and then change it up with Friends in Low Places.
You like this then you'll love the song and video "Whiskey Lullaby" by Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley.
Listen to the grand tourby george jones
Any woman who gets that he's dead as soon as he says, "He stopped loving her today" is too smart to be with me. But any woman who doesn't get it by the songs end is too dumb for me.
We country people still put black wreaths for deaths
This is what sets Country music apart from other genres, the songs tell stories. Some happy some sad, but that is life.
Anyway, the thing is nobody loves like this today, reason is every time you have a different sexual partner it comes at a cost, for you soon become so hardened you can no longer have a lasting bond.
This is classic country music and the saddest country song.
I am a version of this song in female form. I tell my friends and family that that man i love till I die is not allowed to show up after im gone. Sorry there's been over 25yrs for that obviously he hasnt bothered and shouldn't.
The fact it's TRUE realllllyyyy makes it horrid🤣 he wrote it for Tammy Wynette ❤
Well, nice thought. But he didn’t write it. In fact he didn’t even want to record it.
But in her defense Tammy Wynette left him over his alcoholism.
next listen to Doug Supernaw 21 to 17. Sometimes you never get over your first love. Make sure and watch the video not just the song ruclips.net/video/Ez8N0Kj8d5I/видео.html

Now he is at peace, I will never understand why she came back after he passed she should have stayed away 😩
Yes dude he is dead. 😩
