    They are Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. They were a top folk music duo in the 60s and very early 70s. Simon wrote all of their songs...a true poet. Kathy’s Song and Bridge Over Troubled Water are two of my favorite songs by them. I wore out their albums when I was young. 😊🌹

    Paul Simon has released music in the 50s/60s/70s/80s/90s/00s/10s, he is a legend and probably one the the most underrated artists out there.

    I would suggest Paul Simons Graceland album. He was heavily influenced by African rhythms and is supported on the album by Ladysmith Black Mombasa. Diamonds on the soles of her shoes is a great song.

      He was heavily influenced by South African rhythms (actually heavily influenced is a bit of an understatement, he heavily plagiarised South African music!). Anyway I think this woman is from West Africa and the music is completely different.

    We had so much talent in the 60’s and 70’s. It was amazing to grow up listening to the music. So many songs back then touched the heart. Or they grabbed you by the throat and wouldn’t let go.

    They are very VERY great musicians who have lots of hits. Their voices are amazing! Check out their other hits, you will love them!

    Paul Simon is one of the greatest songwriters. He has such a beautiful, cool sound. I recommend: Slip sliding away, 50 ways to leave your lover, Graceland, diamonds on the soles of her shoes, and Homeward Bound.

    Yes, this original version is my favorite - they had such a comforting sound to them, whatever song they sang. Another really good cover of this song is done by the acapella group, "Pentatonix" - it will also blow you away. : )

    Oh hun, you're just scratching the surface of these great pop icons. Liisten to the lyrics of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" They're apt - especially today, yet written in the late 60s. And certainly explore Paul Simon from 1970s right through until today. Mid 70s is pure, smooth rock. Check out "me & Julio..." or "Late in the Evening"

    Hey, hey good looking. You played the original recording of the original duo. It was released in early 1964 and they had the assassination of President Kennedy in mind. It never really hit, but when they were on a tour in Europe, they heard it on the radio. Suddenly electric guitars were put on without their knowledge. It was now a big hit. Their manege had had electrified comp. Their fantastic career had begun.

    Congrats, Empress! Discovering the genius of Paul Simon is like a paleontologist finding a T-Rex. (Disturbed's cover is interesting, but it's just fake dinosaur bones). And don't let the beautiful vocal harmonies fool you... the core of the music is Paul's brilliant songwriting.

    Forty years ago in 1981 they gave a legendary concert in Central Park in New York. Watch the version of the Sound of Silence of this concert. ( 70 million views on RUclips!!!) You will need tissues!!!!

    There are live ones when they are older but very good. The concert they did in NY in 1980 I believe, you will see them. They had a half a million fans come to watch them.

    My suggestion is to listen to the entire live Concert in Central Park they had separated, even as best friends, but reunited for this concert. But the songs, the songs, the songs, it was and is one the best live concert performances ever recorded, and yes, it includes Sounds of Silence.

    I saw a description (on a reaction where he compared them one-after-the-other) of the difference between the S&G version and the Disturbed version described thus....
    The S&G version is like a Mom telling her toddler to put her toys away & go to bed.
    The Disturbed version is like that same Mom, two hours later....having completely lost her sh*t, and is now screaming in rage at this toddler.

    I honestly believe that this song and Scarborough Fair. The beauty of the lyrics, the music and their harmony may have been equaled by a future others, but never surpassed. These two songs came out when I was in high school and still speak to me today as much as then. I'm glad this one spoke to you as well. If you liked this you should check out Scarborough Fair.

    Check out pulse Simon song after going solo, "Diamonds on The Soles of her Shoes". His sound evolved and he brought an African backup group with him for his evolution of sound. 👍😊💕
