    This was a FANTASTIC video Vlog Ana :-D and so helpful for so many cactus growers and amazing advice on saving cactus seeds, and showing when they have fruit pods forming, I think its so therapeutic to pick off the dried flowers, and really beautiful Trichocereus flower and Parodia and your pink flowering mammillaria, and so fantastic you have lots of seeds, we have our Echinopsis cacti forming seed pods and we will be keeping the seeds to send to you, thanks so much Ana for sharing, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and CACTUS POWER to Las Vegas for a terrific Tuesday today XXXX

    Very neat. Yes it's good to clean up the dead flowers too. Chris bought me a big cactus a while back from Lowes. It came with all these dead flowers on top. I left it for one day then the next morning had time to go clean it up. When I removed the dead flowers I found a huge rot hole they were covering that went all the way down. Major disappointment. Luckily we got our money back but it was so big and would have been a nice cactus. So it's important to clean them up so they don't hold moisture.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  4 года назад

      oh yeah! Thanks for pointing that out. Moisture is something I do not have here. Hahaha. So I never encountered that. But you are correct, that can definitely happen in places with high humidity and frequent rains. Thank you Des!

      Pretty much, yes. Except when you harvest the opuntia fruit still plump and juicy, make sure you clean the seeds right away or refrigerate the fruit first. That way they do not develop molds.

    Hi Im a new subscriber in your channel. I dont know what to do wt my cacti during dormant season,/or winter should I still water them ? Do I need to gather them together in one place, because I have many indoor plants

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  4 года назад

      In winter, refrain from watering desert cacti unless they are shriveling too much. Generally, you wouldn’t want to water a cactus when it is dormant or this may lead to root rot.

    Hello i have a question about watering my cacti what is better rainwater or tabwater ?i am asking this because i live on the second floor and it is difficult to collect rainwater

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  4 года назад +1

      Did you mean tap water? Rainwater is always the best as long as it is collected clean. Tap water contains chlorine and other hard minerals which is not healthy for plants in the long run. But I also use tap water as rain happens very seldom here in the desert. But I let the water stand for at least 24hours to let the chlorine evaporate first.

    Hi Ana I would like to know which cactus grows fastest from seed.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  4 года назад

      Gricelda 🤔 hmm. That is a tough one. It really depends on your growing condition. I find that my trichocereus torch cactus grows fast but then they have to grow really big before they flower. My mammillaria bocasana germinated slow but then went on a growth spurt after a year. Some rebutia will grow slow but then they can flower early like after 2-3 years even if they are still small in size.
