    When I first watched this video - "Nah, I love my Apple Watch! Why would anyone buy mechanical watches anyway?"
    Spend some time out of curiosity reading about watches. "Hmm, these things are kind of interesting. They last at least"
    When I second watched the video - "Perhaps I'll check how much I want to spend on a mechanical watch to see what is it all about. There is no chance I'll spend $1,200 on a watch though"
    Reading more about the watches, watching various YT videos, comparing various Seiko and Longines watches. There are so many watches from $100 to hundreds of millions. I guess I would be interested in something sub $1,000.
    When I watched this video third time - "Shit, SPB143 is one of the best watches for this price. For this price it's almost a steal"
    And now I'm wearing SPB143 for a week (they are gorgeous btw), my Apple Watch is on the shelf and I strangely don't miss it. How did it happened? I never thought I would be into watches even remotely, and yet, here I am.
    Eric, big props to you. Love your videos, keep up good work 👍

    Me and my best friend got one each about 2.5 years ago when we were 18. I absolutely love it. I almost used all my money from my job that summer to get it. When we got to the store they only had one in stock so we flipped a coin on who got to get it first. Have bought a few others after it but I always come back to my spb143.

    Retired my 20 year old sea master and replaced with this. Very happy. My daily go to wearer. Runs at minus two seconds a day. Friday night I take it off and give it a wind. Monday morning it’s still keeping time same as if I’d be wearing it. Keeper .

    I've had this watch for a couple of months now and you pretty much sum up my feelings about it. Only other thing I'd mention is the alignment issues. I sent back two with badly misaligned lume pips before finally getting a properly aligned on my third attempt, crazy at this price point. That aside I love the watch

    one of the best videos I've seen on this watch (and I have watched a fair few) - the reason being that you show the watches from a further aspect so you can see how it sits on the wrist in proportion to the rest of your arm/body which others do not do and you tend to lose all sense of proportion and scale of the watch. That aside, lovely shots. Looking foward to see more!

    Lovely video. I've been really thinking about this piece. I have a Sea-Dweller 16600 but its value is just too much for it to make sense as an everyday watch, and I really don't think the actual quality is sufficiently greater than the Seiko to justify it. Now that is a seriously slick watch review of a great watch. I couldn’t afford this, so I got a nearly new SPB053 , (2017’s 62MAS reinterpretation) a touch big for many folk, but as I have big wrists and I love the blue face, looks great on a quality Oyster bracelet. Unfortunately, I still need to scratch the SPB143 itch....it really is the Seiko’s answer to the Submariner......I’ll get one, one day.

  • @bbb1985

    I have the same watch too, and love it. The drill lugs make it convenient but just be wary that the stock bracelet uses fat spring bars. So, it took me a while to realize getting spring bars with 1.2mm tip ends fit into the drill lugs better; otherwise, any strap will easily wobble. Enjoy the watch!

    • @Hueguh
      @Hueguh  3 года назад

      Been dealing with Seiko spring bars since the SKX days, I usually just use the stock spring bars with natos and leather.

    • @bbb1985

      @@Hueguh Gotcha, I had a sea urchin before. When it came to using rubber straps that don't fit those fat bars, I had to find the custom diameter 2.0mm spring bars but with the same fat tip ends. Either way, this classic vintage inspired dial goes well with so many strap options.

    Enjoyed the video. I know this is an old video already but still convinced me to purchase one in 2023. In your opinion, what would be a good strap to dress up this beautiful time piece?

    I'm buying an Oris at that price. Cool looking dial, but paying that much for a Seiko without the word "Grand" in front of it just doesn't sit with me. I'm sure it is lovely in the metal and I'm just snobby, but there's something in my brain that can't shake putting that kind of dough down on it. The Divers Sixty-Five and Aquis are both within a few hundred dollars of that price after negotiations at an AD or through the grey market, if you're so inclined, and they're some seriously robust watches for the money. Aquis is nice and chunky if you prefer that, and the Divers Sixty-Five is slim, sleek, and vintage-inspired.

      I love 65, but it's fragile as F. Aquis is robust, no doubt. Had all of them, SPB143 wins for me.

    love this watch, especially the case shape around the lugs. i just wish they framed the date window to blend in even more. while they are at it, why not make it the same dimensions as the 6/9 indices. its not that hard...

    On comparing the skx007/9 with this. How does it wear and weigh case wise..? The skx is 45mm lug to lug n and thickness @ 44mm if I'm not wrong Vs 40.5mm case n 47 mm lug width for the spb143/7/9 line up

      I don't agree, actually. I think there are much better options. Rolex Explorer, Monta Noble, Rolex Submariner, maybe Ming, Seiko Snowflake. But not this imho

      @@Deal_Advisor 2k for a watch with no historical meaning, what is this brand anyway? Some glorified microbrand with ETA movement and a hefty pric tag. Hard pass

    • @Deal_Advisor
      @Deal_Advisor 3 года назад

      @@tomislavm2873 so basically what you are saying is, that there are no good products from new brands. Do you consider Tesla cars bad, because the brand has no history? And if Monta did not use ETA/Sellita movements their watches would have cost more and you would hate them more :)
      Every company starts somewhere. Rolex was considered sh*tty brand for long time until they proved the opposite. You can make ideal products from the very beginning and satisfy all the customers. But Monta does descent job imo. If you were the founder of the Monta I'm sure you'd charge more for the same watches :)
