When I first watched this video - "Nah, I love my Apple Watch! Why would anyone buy mechanical watches anyway?" Spend some time out of curiosity reading about watches. "Hmm, these things are kind of interesting. They last at least" When I second watched the video - "Perhaps I'll check how much I want to spend on a mechanical watch to see what is it all about. There is no chance I'll spend $1,200 on a watch though" Reading more about the watches, watching various YT videos, comparing various Seiko and Longines watches. There are so many watches from $100 to hundreds of millions. I guess I would be interested in something sub $1,000. When I watched this video third time - "Shit, SPB143 is one of the best watches for this price. For this price it's almost a steal" And now I'm wearing SPB143 for a week (they are gorgeous btw), my Apple Watch is on the shelf and I strangely don't miss it. How did it happened? I never thought I would be into watches even remotely, and yet, here I am. Eric, big props to you. Love your videos, keep up good work 👍
Check out Steinhart's 39mm line of watches. You will be pretty impressed what they offer for a little over $500 and perhaps ad another gem to your new collection.
Me and my best friend got one each about 2.5 years ago when we were 18. I absolutely love it. I almost used all my money from my job that summer to get it. When we got to the store they only had one in stock so we flipped a coin on who got to get it first. Have bought a few others after it but I always come back to my spb143.
Retired my 20 year old sea master and replaced with this. Very happy. My daily go to wearer. Runs at minus two seconds a day. Friday night I take it off and give it a wind. Monday morning it’s still keeping time same as if I’d be wearing it. Keeper .
I've had this watch for a couple of months now and you pretty much sum up my feelings about it. Only other thing I'd mention is the alignment issues. I sent back two with badly misaligned lume pips before finally getting a properly aligned on my third attempt, crazy at this price point. That aside I love the watch
I was always on the fence about this watch and was able to (kind of) forget about it. Here comes Hueguh with this aesthetically pleasing video, and here I am. I've just pulled the trigger on a LNIB SPB143 for 860 USD. A steal of a price!
one of the best videos I've seen on this watch (and I have watched a fair few) - the reason being that you show the watches from a further aspect so you can see how it sits on the wrist in proportion to the rest of your arm/body which others do not do and you tend to lose all sense of proportion and scale of the watch. That aside, lovely shots. Looking foward to see more!
This video and the one you made on the SKX007, are the reason why I began my watch collecting journey and for that I thank you! Keep up the great content✊
Great video! Since I got this watch I can’t take it off the wrist. This watch is clearly super popular in the watch community and my review video is becoming the most viewed on my channel. Enjoy it in good health my friend!

Heuguh, just letting you know that this is first time that I saw a watch video and ordered a watch right there on the spot. You are right it is a great one watch collection piece
Just bought the SRP777 to add to the collection, very similar to this one.. but slightly different shape to it.. also a great option for the one watch collection
@@Hueguh I was going for this piece but at the moment im using the Steinhart Ocean 39 GMT Black/Red Version. Love the quality and the movement. ruclips.net/video/vdCfjgQrZmU/видео.html&ab_channel=GNOMONWATCHES
I have a skx013 and i am very pleased with it !! I think for under 500€ is the best everyday watch because it combines the versatility of a small watch with the practicality of a diver!!
The way Seiko SKX prices are moving, they will be the same price in due time... On the used markets. This brand is going up the wage scale. Love this piece.
I have the same watch too, and love it. The drill lugs make it convenient but just be wary that the stock bracelet uses fat spring bars. So, it took me a while to realize getting spring bars with 1.2mm tip ends fit into the drill lugs better; otherwise, any strap will easily wobble. Enjoy the watch!
@@Hueguh Gotcha, I had a sea urchin before. When it came to using rubber straps that don't fit those fat bars, I had to find the custom diameter 2.0mm spring bars but with the same fat tip ends. Either way, this classic vintage inspired dial goes well with so many strap options.
Lovely video. I've been really thinking about this piece. I have a Sea-Dweller 16600 but its value is just too much for it to make sense as an everyday watch, and I really don't think the actual quality is sufficiently greater than the Seiko to justify it. I think the Hueguh endorsement has pushed me over the edge!
Vintage Rolex use to be fun because the prices weren’t out of control. I wear my Submariner everyday and love it, but the price has basically doubled from when I bought it...has me thinking about selling.
Now that is a seriously slick watch review of a great watch. I couldn’t afford this, so I got a nearly new SPB053 , (2017’s 62MAS reinterpretation) a touch big for many folk, but as I have big wrists and I love the blue face, looks great on a quality Oyster bracelet. Unfortunately, I still need to scratch the SPB143 itch....it really is the Seiko’s answer to the Submariner......I’ll get one, one day.
That suits you very well and its a gorgeous piece. have to lay my hands on this one as well one day. As usual very entertaining video, enjoyed that one a lot. Stay safe and best wishes from Germany. 👍🏻
Have you ever considered a Glashütte Nomos? It’s right up your straße very minimal and I’m sure you’ll love the Bauhaus design. Similar price to the Seiko
Great review. My daily has been either a Speedmaster Pro or a Rolex Explorer. Just ordered a SBDC101 (JDM version) and am looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I'm buying an Oris at that price. Cool looking dial, but paying that much for a Seiko without the word "Grand" in front of it just doesn't sit with me. I'm sure it is lovely in the metal and I'm just snobby, but there's something in my brain that can't shake putting that kind of dough down on it.
