@@jessedominguez543 Thank you Jesse! I'd love to experience an SLA maybe to cap off this category one day and have it next to the Seamaster 57 as the OG reissue divers in the 50's & 60's category. So interesting when you start looking deeper into brands and what they offer... this is definitely the time for it too. Thanks again!
I love the way this guy presents. It’s so refreshing to have a different accent reviewing watches. The precise rhythmic and almost ‘robotic’ (in the kindest sense) is a pleasure to listen to.
Congrats on the pick up man. Since I picked mine up I can’t take it off! This watch is quickly becoming an icon and my video review of it, is becoming the highest watched on my channel, that’s a true testament to this watch. Keep it up man!
They're superb, right? I'm so glad that they're getting so much coverage too! I'm sure I stumbled onto your review in the process when researching the piece a bit more ;) Props for making an excellent video on it, brother. This is the time when we all should be looking into these categories. There's so much to be found! And thank you for the comment
@@ID-Guy thanks for the reply brother! Seiko is on the right path, they just really need to watch their QC issues. Hope to have you on the podcast at some point, would love to chat with you 👍🏼!
Finally got to see this piece in person. It made me do a double-take, because I thought it was the full on 62mas reissue. It was situated right next to the Tudor display and I could see instantly why it is so often compared to the BB58. It presents about the same size and the finishing, quite frankly, looked better than what I'd expected from Seiko at the price. Obviously I'm considering purchasing it, but I'm torn between it and the SPB153. I agree that the Prospex logo suits it. In several decades, enthusiasts will be scrambling to get vintage Seikos with the logo, because it looks cool and vintage. Like Comex.
I have the SPB149. It's simply divine, and not uncommon for many of Seiko's better models. Seiko is a brand finally on the move upmarket, and deservedly so. Still a great value, even at current prices.
Looks amazing. If I had a Rolex Submariner as a collection, I’d just buy this Seiko to wear daily. Looks just amazing and super affordable comparing to those Uber expensive collector watches.
You and me both... After borrowing a BB58 blue for over a month, this Seiko has been on my wrist longer over 2 weeks. It just never feels inappropriate or boring to look at (think we're just suckers for proportions and stunning dials) ALSO have a Marinemaster clasp enroute for it so I'll report back in a future video! Thanks for the comment Randy! Enjoy yours, sir!
Mystery tune sounds of "Behind Blue Eyes" in parts. A "golden age of Suwa" reference I'd recommend a look at is the 6105-800X (0 or 9 depending on intended sales market), pre-Willard case forms. The bridge between a Bathyscaphe inspired 62 MAS and Seiko's classic c-cases from Willard to 6309 Turtle and the SKX.
You got the song Alex ;) Must say I've really been drawn to the 6015's and there are now so many great examples that they've been releasing recently too. Will definitely do some investigating! And thank you for the comment, brother
Hahaha! My pleasure David and thank you! Some have suggested I start a separate channel too... IDLicks? IDShreds? No idea. I've decided that these will stay with all the "hands-on reviews" in future to keep some kind of consistency ;) - Oh and how much I'd kill to be in a desert right now...
Welcome to the club, my friend!!! My collection is mostly seiko, both modern and vintage, and I adore them, there is always something new to learn about them, and as a company they are very similar to rolex ps great guitar playing at the end
The bug has bitten hard... Just ordered a Marinemaster clasp for this gem (super excited) - Now is the time for us to branch into different areas while everyone is looking the other way ;) Thank you as always Neel!
@@ID-Guy u should check out averagebros somewhat recent video (been couple month actually) on this very watch and the new "mm200" sbdc127. Regarding the clasp, he was also going to swap out the clasp for a marine master one. But, decided not to. The stock one is actually thinner and flows with the bracelet better as the mm one can be chunky and leave clasp gap where links meet at either end. Idk, something to think about. Although the adjustment mechanism is cool. I think a little overkill for what may likely end up being only 1 or 2 position change at most. And, I have coped with many standard clasps by finding a good comfort zone where no adjustment is ever needed. I never take out tool to micro-adjust once I've set.
Thanks a million Paul and it's my pleasure. I had no idea how the playing would be received in a video, but hey! Some have asked that I make a separate channel around it now too... can't go back now ;)
I have always been a luxury and high horology collector but last year I got into collecting seiko watches and in particular their prospex dive range. Once you get on you want another one. Very reliable, great finish and comfortable on the wrist. Fabulous watches, but they creep up in price. But still very good value. I have been looking into a more dresser watch from the brand, SBP069 or the Japanese market version the SARX053. The dial is one of the best dials I have ever seen including high horology. An enamel dial made by one artisan man in Japan that makes every single watch dial in that range. Check it out and have a look if you havent. Its stunning.. congratulations on your new seiko.
Yes. I have had most of the under £2k Seikos and many many other brands. I have to say that that SPB14x is the most perfect diver style watch that I have ever bought.
The 147 has the coffee brown dial? Love it! I'm in the process of getting a Marinemaster clasp for this (and will report back on it in a future video) ;)
IDGUY, love the guitar at the end....Thank you for doing another one. More please. Oh....Behind Blue Eyes, The Who. It's kinda a My Generation song... As far the Seiko. I'm a bit surprised and I'm also not surprised. The thought process around the Omega 1957 was amazing and the choice was so perfect for you. I loved watching the videos documenting the story around that watch. I understood your thinking around the Oris 65, a bit playful, a bit vintage, etc. The Smiths. The genesis of your watch journey. I get that. I was bit surprised by your Rolex Explorer conclusions. So far, there has been a very coherent feel to your journey. With the Seiko, it almost feels more like "ticking off a box". Don't get me wrong. It is a solid watch. You discuss the design elements, as always, very well. It will be interesting to see if this is a keeper or becomes expendable fairly soon. I was thinking your next purchase might be for something like the Longines heritage sector dial. Something that has a very different look than another black dial watch. Something you would wear on different occasions. Love your videos. Especially the ones documenting your horological journey.
Karl, honestly, I said "this will be a watch to test and experience - if I don't like it, at least it was worth the try" but it's been on my wrist for over two weeks and it NEVER gets boring. After experiencing the black bay, this has had twice as much wrist time over the same period. Crazy! Over the next month I'll put something together that's more coherent, but the styling of the watch feels so correct (and is not "playful" in the slightest) I mean, the Submariner looks like a fun watch next to this with all of its shapes and Bauhausness... Don't worry though, there are plenty more watches out there to come. Seriously eyeing a Zenith... not even kidding ;) Thank you as always for these, sir. And you nailed the tune (only a few have guessed it - don't even think my folks could guess correctly and they're from the era too) Have a superb weekend!
Hi IDGuy. I just wanted to send my thanks for mentioning my video. I agree with a lot of your points of why the SPB143 is a special Seiko. I hope you enjoy it 👍🏻 All the best, Anders
I have the same watch and honestly I can't stop wearing it. Even put my Rolex Sub in the safe and it's been there for months because I love the way the light works on this dial. Best £1000 I ever spent. Thanks for the lovely playing, I have a solid mahogany Martin with Elixir strings.
Popped my cherry! It feels like I've just started the hobby again hahaha! ;) Thank you for the comment, brother (this will definitely not be my last Seiko...the bug has bitten hard)
Great pick up IDGuy! I would say of the roughly 6 trillion Seiko models available, this is exactly the one to get. I just picked this up recently myself (although me buying a watch is a low bar) I agree, the gray dial absolutely sells it, and the date window execution is fantastic. I love this watch
Now I'm looking into an SLA for that ultimate experience, you know? (to pair it with the 57 Seamaster as the OG divers in the category) but these pieces are superb Tom... So happy that you grabbed one too. I have a Marinemaster clasp enroute for it as we speak so I'll report back on the experience with it in a future video, maybe also on Instagram. Thank you for the comment brother!
Pickin 'n' grinnin' Thanks for the great review. I purchased this piece for $1,100.00 us, no sales tax, on a whim whilst window shopping with my GF in artsy Santa Fe New Mexico. I do not regret that impulse buy one bit.
One month ago I bought the SBDC029 SEIKO Shogun Titanium 900 $. This is my first automatic watch and I have been wearing it every day. I love this piece of art
Bravo! Great video, as always. I'm glad to see your review of this watch. I've recently purchased this exact model but I'm awaiting shipment as it's on backorder. I really appreciate your commentary on watch designs and again, you didn't disappoint. Maybe you should give more Seikos a look in the future? Be well.
I will definitely cover more Seikos in future Luis AND I hope your arrives soon! You won't be disappointed ;) Keep looking after yourself and thanks for the comment, brother
You nailed the Seiko dilemma exactly. Over stylized, gigantic case diameters, weird case shape or handset. It’s always something that keeps one from pulling the trigger. I would add the numerous & confusing array of models and constant churning of the designs. Coming mainly from Rolex I like the constant consistent nature and incremental evolution of Rolex models. You can buy a 50 yro Submariner and it’s little changed from a 2021. I suspect in another 50 yrs the Sub will still be around and only slightly changed from the current Subs available today. Seiko’s seem to be ever evolving and not establishing a model heritage or pedigree. That said I think Seiko going back and making a connection with their original 60’s, 70’s models is an anticipated welcome change. As evidenced by these reissue models popularity. That’s a beautiful Divers watch you got there. I have a Marine Master 300 and love it except for it’s 44mm x 15mm bulk. It looks like what you’d expect a vintage Seiko to look like and you can’t argue against it’s superb fit and finish nor it’s value proposition.
Brilliantly said Evan! Wow. This will probably be the basis for Part 2 on this new generation of divers (maybe I'll be able to snag a Willard SPB151 before then and have them together for a comparison) - Both just feel correct with the amount of refinement but also restraint around their designs. It's so interesting! Just like the Sub (which has never really deviated with it's styling) - I'd highly recommend an SLA or one of these SPB's if we're talking about sizes. The 40.5mm case (and about 13mm height) feels like a "true 40" on the wrist. Also have a Marinemaster clasp enroute for mine so that should be an interesting combo ;) But thank you for this! I'm really looking forward to preparing part 2 now...
Thank you, sir. It feels so good to be a part of the club! The bug has bitten hard too... I can see why there are whole channels dedicated to the brand. It's deep ;)
Channeling Pete Townshend at the end! Very nice rendition of Behind Blue Eyes. Congratulations on the Seiko. Such a lovely watch. I had the same connect with the SPB153. Looking forward to more on this one. Excellent work, as always.
Love the sound of that Martin...they just don’t make a bad guitar! I have 14 acoustics, several Martins among them. My pride and joys are my two Mossmans. ‘73 Flint Hills and ‘79 Timber Creek. Check out Mossmans sometime...they’re no longer made, but there’s lots of info and videos on Stuart, and his factory. 👍🏻
Ah, cannot get enough of the 28. Been experimenting with a new set of Martin 80/20's - great balanced sound (but I still prefer Phosphor Bronze for the boom - feels like I tend to play the bass strings a lot more) And I'm dying to see these Mossman's (Froggy Bottom's too) It's amazing how many companies there are out there...pity I'm not based in the States...you wouldn't be able to get me out of stores ;) Thanks as always Dylan
Wow Sammy, thank you. Take my word for it, you WILL NOT be disappointed. The build, fit and finish... you see all the clickbaity "best $1000 watch in the Seiko category"... yeah, they're not kidding, it's superb ;)
@@ID-Guy Yeah man that’s why yours sealed the deal. With the sheer number of positive reviews out there, I started to think everyone had been swayed by the masses. Been really appreciating smaller case sizes and to have something this robust at this size seems like a dream. All the best 👊🏼
This was my first Seiko as well. Originally intended on getting something as a daily driver, for weekends when I'm home, etc., etc. just to keep wear and tear off of some of my more expensive pieces. I looked at monsters, and a couple of other models, but once I saw this one, I jumped on it.... Only problem is it's so nice that it went into the rotation with my nicer watches and I still need to find one that daily driver that I wouldn't mind dinging up.
Welcome to the Seiko club! Nice choice, and great video as always. I highly recommend checking out the Seiko "King Samurai" Save The Ocean SRPE33K1 - I own one myself. It's a stunning timepiece with a perfectly lined up chapter ring, and it's even better on a OMEGA black/grey Bond NATO strap.
Hey, congratulations on the Seiko! Beware, once you start, it can be a slippery slope - I'm 10 in now! These are such great all round sports/divers. A pleasing, balanced design, well executed. It avoids being a generic skin diver homage, but instead finds a modern relevance that few others have managed. To that you add major advances in material finish and bracelet design. I'd prefer to loose the PS/X, but I don't mind it on these and the grey sunray face is a beauty. A great companion to your peerless Seamaster Trilogy!
What a brilliant analogy James. Wow. I may have to quote you in Part 2 summing up this watch ;) It does feel so modern in this category (but calls back to the classics at the same time) pretty fascinating! Sadly, the bug has already bitten hard... a Marinemaster clasp is on the way... and what a terrific daily it's become in my rotation too. I'd happily wear the Seiko all week and Seamaster on the weekends (which is what's happening now) Thank you for the comment, brother!
I've been looking forward to your review and it didn't disappoint. I've been into Seiko's for sometime and their vintage chronos have been so appealing and collectable it always seems that the brand has such heritage and diversity. I got my SPB143J1 last year to match up with a Tudor BB58 and this more than holds it own. Keep up the follow up reviews and congratulations on a great addition to your collection.
It's so strange that I never grew up with Seiko's (or any watches really - just a Swatch) - I can see why so many have an affection for the brand after all this time. Hell, these new releases have swayed me! Thank you for the comment as always brother!
It was cool to see your guitar playing. Regarding the Seiko, I have a nice set of Seikos and I thought your watch would be a great final Seiko, or at least my best Seiko. I'm on the list for the Black bay Blue, so all watch spending has been halted.
Thanks a million CW! The SPB's do feel very much like a closing chapter in the Seiko category (they're so competent) AND I'll say, after experiencing a BB58 blue for over a month, this Seiko has been on my wrist longer over two weeks... crazy. You're going to love the watch though. Proportions of the BB's are spot on! I really hope you manage to get the call soon. It's a watch that we should all experience.
After buying the larger SKX009, I discovered its case diameter was too big for me. I ended up getting the SKX013 which definitely fits better on my wrist, but you’re right, proportionately something irks me - the case is too thick (which is emphasized by its bezel/crystal flatness) and bezel diameter too narrow for the case size. I still own and wear it sometimes, but now that I have a BB58 I find myself wearing it less and less.
Nice to see you've finally dipped your toes into the Seiko world! You should check the vintage pieces of their designer Taro Tanaka, the 44GS, the 56GS, the stunning 62GS (a personal favorite)... Just today i received another one for my collection, a neat little 7546-8000 Type II Quartz form 1978 in near mint condition, i'll send you some photos in the email. Have a nice day, and lots of fun with your Seiko too!
Honestly as a tool watch I have this and a new 2021 rolex submariner and I am so excited about the esthetic of this piece . It's to me a new born classic for Seiko . I could almost shed the Rolex and enjoy the cash wearing this guy
I love my Tudor bb58 blue but sometimes I wish I got this instead. I love blue more but this one would save me quite a bit of money while being a fantastic watch as well
There's no denying how excellent the BB58's are. After experiencing the blue for over a month (also a big lover of blue) this watch has been on my wrist for twice as long already. I'd suggest trying to find this exact Seiko on the grey market and compare them both in hand. Honestly think you'll be amazed at how they contrast each other in a collection. Plus there will always be demand for either if you ever decide to sell one ;)
Thanks a ton Ben! Would fully recommend it to the new or experienced in this area... I haven't been able to get enough of it over the last few weeks AND it NEVER gets boring!
Think the spb051, was nicer. The dial and indices really popped and the domed sapphire gives it character. At 42mm it's a large watch , but it was also a bit cheaper too for basically the same quality. But I understand that 40mm is the sweet spot for most people, and there is nothing to dislike with these newer models.
I'm seriously considering an SLA for that ultimate experience, you know? Something to put next to my Seamaster 57 as the OG's in both categories. Maybe one day ;) They're such great pieces though... Seiko is really making a big dent with all of these releases. Thank you for the comment, brother
@@ID-Guy l do enjoy some of the new releases. One glaring difference between the sla017 and the spb is that the sla has nicer broader markers and they sparkle. The hands too.
What a great review. I’ve had a few Seikos in my life, a great brand, THE watch brand in my opinion. I bought an SPB053 for my 30th Wedding Anniversary and I’m so chuffed with it, but wow, I’m really loving the 143, it just seems perfect, but I fear it might be lost on my larger than average wrist. Mine has very similar design cues and has a gorgeous blue dial and bezel, but I’m sure the yearning for the 143 will not go away, I might just HAVE to get one.
In therms of case dimensions and dial design, this is one the best Seiko divers of all time. If a Seiko could put a better movement close to chronometer specs this would be one of the best divers on the market. Cheers!
Ah, it's a great start and the watch has exceeded my expectations (already have a Marinemaster clasp on it's way) - the bug has bitten... Thanks a million for the comment David!
I’ve the Seiko SLA037J, Prospex, 55’th anniversary, 1.100 Ltd. Dial: blue/grey. Cal. Hi-Beat 8L55 based on Grand Seiko 9585. 36.000 bph. Hacking; yes. Hand windable; yes. Case: PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number). Case: Ever-Brilliant Steel. A fantastic piece, expensive for a Seiko, but it is cheaper than a Rolex Sub that most people wear. A watch for the enthusiast, and quite unique considering the edition.
Actually featured a SLA037 last weekend on a livestream! They are stunning... so underrated. The owner (who also has Rolex and Blancpain in the diver category) mentioned how the fit and finish is on par with the brands for half the price... It's most definitely not half the watch ;) Thank you for this Egon!
@@ID-Guy definitely on par for sure, i’ve also a few subs and they are so mainstream, behalve the 5513 with gilt dial from the ‘60-s, that’s really a stunning piece. I love all my watches for what they are, and this specific Seiko needs more attention, to my opinion as you also mentioned it, undervalued for sure. Thanks for your content and your stunning RUclips channel! Kind regards and stay safe!
Should I just say f**kit and pick up a SLA017 next? No. no... Grand Seiko has to be kept on the radar next... Love how they nailed the Willard remake too. Seiko is making serious moves, man! Thank you as always for the comment Raymond
@@ID-Guy Box clever my friend. Abort the idea of a SLA017 considering what you have here and in your collection. Go for the Grand Seiko and if you can aim for a Spring Drive, that is the way to go. I have many Seiko models as you know including 4 Alpinists 2 being the Prospex versions. Savor yourself for the GS. You will not regret it. The Prospex SPB143 you have will serve you the same as my SPB151 a great all purpose rounder semi-beater. The GS will take you up a notch or two, consider your overall collection which I am very familiar with and the GS will fit nicely into it. I am looking after you Bro!
About to pull the trigger on a 63MAS version, still split between this, the chocolate dial and the new 140th anniversary version. No matter what I'll end up getting a replacement bracelet from strap code as these aren't great for the money. 70hr power reserve, decent movement and fully waterproof, does it for me.
It's been a pleasure over the last two weeks. Cannot get enough of it! And thank you as always, Underachieving! I'd happily wear this watch for all situations. As far as "tool watches" go this one throws luxury out of the window in favour of practicality ;)
This watch I am also considering buying for a few months now... imo it shows the new road seiko is going in... Saphire glass, milled clasp, rolex style “chapter ring”, ... It is way better than anything I have EVER seen from Seiko.
The sla models are just great. It's a seiko that can compete with omega and rolex in terms of quality. The sla 043 is very similar to your omega 57 diver in terms of style and quality. The spb range are great value for money though for 1k, and are a perfect choice if you don't want to spend too much on a watch, because your still getting a great watch in terms of build quality.
Was at the seiko retailer this morning with intention to buy SPB143J1 but with my wrist being 8.25” it seems a bit too small. What are my options now? Dose seiko made any watch similar to SPB143J1 in 43-45mm? Thank you
The original 50's are beauties. Something about owning the FIRST always makes it more special. And you're correct Russell! D-28 reimagined, an early christmas present to myself at the end of last year ;)
Not really BUT it's clear that 50's - 60's - 70's divers tick all my boxes ;) Thank you as always Mannix. Digging this Seiko so much (marinemaster clasp is enroute) - something tells me it'll be my weekly wearer for the foreseeable future...
@@ID-Guy Eclectic by brand! Like it, also something that connects with breadth of your audience. By the way, your review of the explorer that you borrowed, I also testify to the same thoughts, I bought the 39mm, which no matter how ive tried, it just doesn't speak to me, the 36mm might've hit the spot, never know now! As usually great vid and content 👍
@@mannixj5186 I think I remember you mentioning the Explorer to me before? But it's strange, right? Great piece for occasional wear... but as a daily... great to shed a controversial light on the subject ;) You're not alone brother!
@@ID-Guy it's the latent yearning to own a 1016 that disappoints - was never going be a replacement, should've known that. I did think about the Smiths PRS25, but that became scarce too...practically unobtanium after a certain review 🤔...🤣. Have a good weekend sheltering from rain and snow there tomorrow!!
Great review! Just be aware of the misalignment issues on your next Seiko & enjoy! I prefer to inspect them before purchase. If online, I’ll get the seller to help check it our for me before purchase. Love the Seiko ruggedness.
This seems to be a very fresh looking Seiko design wise. I’ve not studied the Seiko range much recently. The Willard was the last one that really caught my eye. This Prospex has a very subtle look that goes under the radar and like you say looks like a “step up” from Seikos typical designs. A great looking watch. The bracelet and diver extension look solid. I wonder why you are seeking a new clasp? Maybe it’s a little bit too fussy? Another great video here my friend. Fascinating to see your collection grow over time. As always, love the guitar playing. ✊
Ah, it's been a great experience brother. Been wearing the Seiko daily for the last 2 weeks and it NEVER gets boring. Whether it's the dial, the size, the hands & batons... just pushes all of my buttons. I might go so far to say one day that it's one of the best diver dials I've ever experienced. I mean, Rolex Submariner dials still have a bit of "playfulness" to them compared to this... crazy. AND the fancier clasp, most definitely because I'm too fussy (and want all the bells and whistles) It's like being offered a full diver extension or a flip out micro adjustment and being asked to choose ;) It's going to be grand! Thank you as always Thomas and have a superb end to your weekend!

The bug has bitten hard... Just ordered a Marinemaster clasp for this gem (super excited) - Now is the time for us to branch into different areas while everyone is looking the other way ;) Thank you as always Neel!
@@ID-Guy can you share what clasp and where it was ordered ? Id be very interested in that upgrade
Please do share the clasp detail and where it can be ordered. The one on this watch is very sad
Congratulations on your new watch. A superb video as always. Your guitar playing was superb, it certainly put a smile on my face. Thank you.
Thanks a million Paul and it's my pleasure. I had no idea how the playing would be received in a video, but hey! Some have asked that I make a separate channel around it now too... can't go back now ;)
You red my mind, this is also my first seiko. What a stunning watch, love it.
Yes I have tried sbdcxyz seikoholic it's a variant
Yes. I have had most of the under £2k Seikos and many many other brands. I have to say that that SPB14x is the most perfect diver style watch that I have ever bought.
Congrats! I just got the 147 and absolutely love it.
@@ID-Guy I did not see any guesses for the tune when I posted. I kept going....I know this , I know this..... and then it came to me.
Hi IDGuy. I just wanted to send my thanks for mentioning my video. I agree with a lot of your points of why the SPB143 is a special Seiko. I hope you enjoy it 👍🏻
All the best,
Anders
I have the same watch and honestly I can't stop wearing it. Even put my Rolex Sub in the safe and it's been there for months because I love the way the light works on this dial. Best £1000 I ever spent. Thanks for the lovely playing, I have a solid mahogany Martin with Elixir strings.
Love my Martin ‘hog back…and this watch!
WOW! First Seiko. lol! Welcome to the world of Watches!
Popped my cherry! It feels like I've just started the hobby again hahaha! ;) Thank you for the comment, brother (this will definitely not be my last Seiko...the bug has bitten hard)
Something about Seiko design it's speaking to me more than other brand, especially those that has 6105 DNA.
l love your outro with the guitar songs:) I got me the SPB147 as first SEIKO in my collection, so I can totally relate to your thoughts! Great video!
Great watch! Seiko is one of my all-time favorite brands. I have a Marinemaster Tuna SBBN031 and a Landmaster GMT SBDW005. Both are keepers
Great choice! That antracite is ⭐️ of the show! And lume will not disappoint either!
Great piece! Welcome to Seiko!
It feels great Nick and thank you! I'm so looking forward to discovering more that the brand offers in the future!
Congrats buddy. A fab way to start the Seiko trail.
Thanks very much for this. YOURS is the one that finally really sold it to me. 🤞🏼 I can get my hands on one soon.
My 1st mechanical wrist watch was a Seiko 5. Congrats for getting your 1st Seiko. Well played blues...cheers.
It's so strange that I never grew up with Seiko's (or any watches really - just a Swatch) - I can see why so many have an affection for the brand after all this time. Hell, these new releases have swayed me! Thank you for the comment as always brother!
Fyi, I got this Seiko 5 as a gift from my Dad when I started my pilot training in 1992. Cheers, IDGuy...
Great watch and great playing mate! Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Welcome to the Seiko club! Warning: it can become addictive. 😀
I enjoyed the review.. love the watch and really liked the guitar playing at the end!
Rolex has become passe
Congratulations on a very good looking Seiko diver. Wear it in good health my friend.
Great choice. Congratulations. This is a one watchable piece.
Ah, it's a gem Jeremy and thank you! Would highly recommend it
I ❤ Seiko. Just bought my 4th last week. The new Alpinist.
Love that Seiko! Good choice my friend!
Very beautifully done mate. Keep going. ❤️
I see why you prefer the grey. I have the SLA017. It's limited to 2000 pcs. I bought the spb147 for colour variants. Love it.
My favourite seiko too and in my collection! Great guitar action
In therms of case dimensions and dial design, this is one the best Seiko divers of all time. If a Seiko could put a better movement close to chronometer specs this would be one of the best divers on the market. Cheers!
This is my favorite Seiko. I’d rather buy this and a four seasons Grand Seiko than a Sub, and it would be less money.
Congratulations. Seiko makes a great watch.
Ah, it's a great start and the watch has exceeded my expectations (already have a Marinemaster clasp on it's way) - the bug has bitten... Thanks a million for the comment David!
Yes..Seiko spb is a perfect watch in all ways..👌👌
Enjoyed the review!
Great review and a great piece. Congratulations 🥳
Great video! Congratulations on your purchase! From Brazil 🇧🇷
best watch brand out there
It's fast become a favourite of mine too... seriously considering splurging on a GS next. This hobby (rabbit hole) gets deeper and deeper...
SPB143 is a perfect product
Very nice and a keeper. I went for the Prospex Willard SPB151
with the same 70 hour PR movement
Prospex logo on the crown would look great!!!!!
Brilliant review 👍
I have the SPB 149 with the blue Strap. Pure Love :-)
Congrats 🎈! Great looking tool watch to wear when you roll up your sleeves and go to work!! Best regards
It's been a pleasure over the last two weeks. Cannot get enough of it! And thank you as always, Underachieving! I'd happily wear this watch for all situations. As far as "tool watches" go this one throws luxury out of the window in favour of practicality ;)
What a treat at the end of a great review.
I agree with everything you said. Just a stunning watch. Simple beauty.
Better design than any modern Rolex...
That’s a lovely looking watch!
Was at the seiko retailer this morning with intention to buy SPB143J1 but with my wrist being 8.25” it seems a bit too small. What are my options now? Dose seiko made any watch similar to SPB143J1 in 43-45mm? Thank you
Two years late…. SBDC051 (42,3mm)
Good purchase, ID!
Guess the tune - up tempo Who, Behind Blue Eyes?
Lovin’ the Seiko!
Nailed it Neill and thank you! Have to up the tempo (to about 105%) which alters the tuning (sadly) just so it's not 3+ minutes in length ;)
The design that speaks to me is the 1952 Blancpain fifty fathoms.Nice guitar, looks like a Martin D28.........................
The original 50's are beauties. Something about owning the FIRST always makes it more special. And you're correct Russell! D-28 reimagined, an early christmas present to myself at the end of last year ;)
Nice pick up. I've strongly considered.
Mike, join our club!! A few of us on the 'cord have one now... Can't underscore how impressed I am with it. Thank you for the comment, brother ;)
Forming quite an eclectic collection. Respect 👍
Gorgeous watch! Now you have sparked my interest too!
Love the guitar postlude!
I’m waiting for glossy deep black dial 🖤 (hopefully nodate)
Great review! Just be aware of the misalignment issues on your next Seiko & enjoy! I prefer to inspect them before purchase. If online, I’ll get the seller to help check it our for me before purchase. Love the Seiko ruggedness.
Welcome to the club 😎
I was looking for a new watch, and eventually I chose this Seiko SPB143 (SBDC101) instead of a Rolex Submariner.....Great review..👌
Great pick. I hope you buy another seiko and do another video.
Excellent choice, beautiful little watch.
yeah I want this seiko as well, accuracy of thatr movement is really not very good but the design is amazing
IDGuy and Caseback Tim both play guitar masterfully 🎸 ... is there an emerging pattern here 🤔😁. Excellent!!!
It looks a bit like the tudor black bay 58. I love it that king of design which is sporty and classy at the same time.
