I’ve listened to your videos and thought you might discuss how it is a bit too small for big wrists and you did point that out and I agree with you. I have a 7 3/4 inch wrist myself and like the fit of the turtle slightly more on my wrist. But otherwise, you’re right, it’s a virtually perfect watch and as a matter of fact, I’m going to pull mine out right now and wear it. Thanks
Great advice at every turn! Unfortunately I got my SPB143 more than a year ago - where were you when I needed you McMahon??? Seiko really hit it out of the park with this 62MAS kick and IMO the 143 is the best one. It hasn’t quelled my watch impulsivity I’m afraid, but I don’t think I’ll ever part with the 143. Love the vids, man - keep ‘em coming!
It is a beautiful watch and yes, the proportions are perfect. I have the 239 which is equally good looking and the larger 053, which only misses proportion wise due to the 20mm lug width. If the 053 had 22mm lugs it would very close to perfect as well! They're both keepers in my collection though.
Spot on. I have the SPB053 on a bracelet. With bigger wrists, it’s ideal for me, but I get the proportions aren’t quite up here with the 143! The colours, though, the colours! I need the 143, but I’m worried about size, 😝.

And you can see why this is probably Seiko’s most popular dive watch in year's. Especially the grey dial. My brother was not into watches in the slightst bit. Although he does own a Milgauss. I showed him my SPB147, and a week later he bought the grey dial version. So now he has become a bit of a Seiko fanboy and is looking into a Grand Seiko for his next watch lol.My sister hates me for it though because all he does is watch watch reviews all day and dosn't get any work done🤣. It's a small price to pay though. There was always a bit of awkward friction between myself and my brother in law. Well now,, we're like best buddies and our relationship has never been better hahaha!-) I must say though,,, after seeing his grey 62MAS I couldn't help to think that maybe I chose the wrong one 😂 Really though,, that brown dial is mesmerising and would still be my first choice. The grey dial looks killer on the bracelet, and is the better all round watch IMO, where as I prefer the brown dial on a leather strap. There's no beach around here so I'm allowed to wear leather on my divers haha!-) Anyway, I'm glad I dropped in. It's been a while. Happy New Year! I hope you and your family are all doing well. I agree. Don’t get it! It’s a distraction and it becomes the standard against which you measure all other watches. Most others don’t trigger a positive emotional reaction like this. It’s just too good to buy.
Had mine regulated after about a year, $285….now running about -8 on the wrist and almost even face up. Love the looks, but I’d be less happy if I’d paid 1200 instead of 815 grey market (could still need regulation even from AD). The darker metal from the coating is classy.

I have no problem with the alignment, my issue with my 053 is the movement, +25s/day out of the box. I paid $40 to regulate it, now it's running 10-15 seconds fast per day. Love the watch, hate the movement.
Love my 053, I’m getting 2-4 secs slow, superb! Bought an after market milled oyster bracelet, it’s superb, the Zaratsu polishing is even better than on the 143.
I have the SPB147 (brown and gilt) currently on sale and recently sold the SPB213 140th LE (silver). Why? I want to get an MM300. I might keep the SPB147 as a beater, if i sell my other watches.
It is a little to big for me but i still love it . I got mine for $1 400 ca out the door in toronto. 2023 . With the diver extension i can wear it on the outside of my winter jacket . ( walking the dog ) 😂
You are right. Save some money and buy a Tudor BB 58 and experience the feel of a quality built watch all around. Definitively this Seiko SPB143 is a good watch and its nice but the Tudor BB is the best diving watch you can get at one third of the price of the submariner. If you have one already, then buy the Seiko SPB147 which is way much nicer than the SPN143.
Tried on the bb58 but was unimpressed seemed a little too small I bought an Omega smp instead. I think I'd like to try the newer thinner Tudor BB 42, that could be a winner.
I enjoy your videos and love my 143, so the title of this episode definitely caught my eye. Hilarious McMahon. I prefer straps, the 143 looks pure class on an all black Artem sailcloth. If I'm taking it in the water, it's fantastic on a Tropic. Enjoy your new 143.

I got that version and was so annoyed when I noticed they added the date at 3. Tracked down the og dial and swapped them out with a watchmaker. It is the watch if you are into this watch.
Haha, I love the Civic and the SPB143! Great video! You’ve made it so much harder to not get the 143….I have the SPB053 and love it, but convinced myself I didn’t want the 143, cos my wrists are 7.5 inches …….now I HAVE to get it, it really is superb….the modern iteration of the early Subs!
While it's a tad smaller than I'm used to on my 7.5 wrist, it's so beautiful I keep staring at it. Wrist presence is more about self-confidence than the actual size of the watch.

I am also surprised by how slow the date change is. Someone explained that it is a simple way to lengthen the power reserve. I don't know if that's true.
I’m a massive Seiko fan from £1000-£6000 but this watch is just so generic and BORING!!!!!! Noooooo!!!! I’m sorry! The 62mas whilst is horribly expensive is just utterly gorgeous in comparison but this one twists the style into the most boring imaginable watch. For a non watch enthusiast who may have one watch, it’s fine, very smart, well made but that’s it.
Looks good, like when the wife makes your most favourite meal when you have company over, and you try and tell them that it’s terrible and they shouldn’t eat it, because then will ask for the recipe or want to come over all the time!! Congrats on your freedom watch!

No Tunas. I just don't connect with quartz Tunas much. They look awesome though. I'm a mechanical watch dude at the end of the day. Ideally, you could try on the 143 first to make sure you're happy with the wrist presence. At 40.5, it's a tad small, but it's so beautiful I can't stop looking at it.
The real reason why you shouldn't buy this watch is because it will make you not want to wear any other watch I mean seriously why would anyone want a watch that's built like a tank has a beautiful grey dial 70 hour time reserve and is a total strap monster. Also guys sometimes girls will actually compliment it and start a conversation so why but it?
I won't buy it because 1. It's a homage watch 2. It's a typical diver with outer bezel 3. It says SEIKO on the dial 4. Prehistoric spring bar holes for the lugs 5. It's affordable and price wise within reach for most 💁🏻

I wish they'd make one with the 8L35. Fortunately, my SPB143 is very accurate, more than my Captain Willard, which had the same movement. There is too much variation in the movement.
Seiko could’ve done a much better job making the first link appear like it was actually made to go with the 143 case contour. There’s a strange step off lip from case to 1st link that makes the bracelet look like a parts bin mate up. And would a ceramic bezel insert killed them at $1,200.
A beautiful watch I hav the spb147 with the brown dial it came with black silicone strap which is nice but I got a strapcode oyster bracelet it’s great ur sob 143 looks great also 👍

Bought one yesterday from my AD for 1080. Saw some used ones online for less but I wanted new. 😂 can’t wait until it arrives!!!!

I have the sbdc053 and the blue pops nicely but hated the chapter ring alignment or lack thereof. They are sharp looking.

I've never had the BB58, only the larger version. The SPB143 doesn't scratch as easily, so that's a huge advantage.
