To me the closest thing I can get to an objective answer would be the VC Overseas. You get a mix of sporty and elegant, and can completely change the look ad feel of the watch since it comes with the SS bracelet, leather strap, and rubber strap. You are also going to spend considerably less than a 222. I just think this verstility without buying aftermarket straps is unmatched.
Agree with you about the Cartier. I wear mine regularly. Depends the kind of work you do. Could make an argument that the Tank Francaise is more suited for this video with the recessed crown; less likely to snag it on something. What do you make of the 3 ATM water resistance?
Daytona is the king.I Hate Hublot but my god when I first saw this watch I was left speechless.I just love Hublot Fusion Orlinski chrono.Amazing micro blasted titanium with perfect triangle motif braclet and spectacular decagon case. For me the most beautiful chrono in the world, such an innovative design with state of the art technology inside this watch. Graet video glad you had a Breitling in your list. A very underrated watch and you where bang on when you said that if your spotted with a Breitling watch on a real watch fan will notice.
Seiko Prospex Alpinist 1959 reimagination. I wear it everyday and I am hypnotised by its beauty. I am lucky enough to also have a submariner, superocean, seamaster and a number of watches you featured, but this is my one watch for everything.
In my opinion the the pricing of the IWC Ingenieur is insane. It costs about twice the price of the IWC Mark XX that uses the same movement and isn’t (much) inferior in terms of fit and finish. I could have accepted €1,000 or perhaps €2,000 for the Genta design and hype but a premium of €6,200 to me is - as I already said - just insane.
Great video! You probably don’t want to add too many of the same brand but I would add the Rolex GMT, thats my daily feels good in all situations and good for traveling.
Very nicely done video with good choices. Picking holes in the choices would be silly as each to their own, though I would add a Breguet type XX or XXII to the list, oh and of course a Breitling SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph 44mm.
I love your content man and supporting you from the day one but how the hell you can miss the Nomos Club Sport 39 (especially the smoke dial!) How? Haven't you seen it yet??
The Rado captain cook is such a versatile watch which can be dressed up or down, can be a tool watch or a classy watch. The rotating logo is such a nice touch.
That’s a great list. Longines GMT is one of my favorites. I would have appreciated seeing the Chopard Mille Miglia on the list. It’s a great do it all chronograph that is very underrated. Ty.

All good options Harrison (as always). One... well two addition(s) that I think are certainly worth considering include the now discontinued Tudor BB 36 black dial and the evergreen Rolex Explorer in 36. Great case finishes and brilliantly readable at a glance. GADA watches that look cool regardless of the event.
Very nice video! And so happy to the moonwatch a the top of the list. Was my first watch and opened up the door to collection. Great vid. You won the sub!
I’ve got the Cartier Tank Must and I’d say that it’s robust enough to be used as a daily watch, although I wouldn’t necessarily wear it to the beach or for gardening etc. The stainless bracelet and case, while sleek is well made. By the way, a year ago, I added a Hydro Conquest to my collection, which I WOULD wear to the beach or gardening, but I just found out about the upgrade to GMT and the bracelet reconfiguration. I’ve found that flap to be a nail breaker! What to do!! I can’t at this point go out and get another HC. I’ll have to wear it a while and upgrade at a later time. Seems like we’r eon the same page. with some of our watch choices! Oh, one other thing! The Tissot Gentleman is much sturdier built than the PRX. Not Genta inspired, but great bang for the buck!
Nice choice as always :-) Thanks for videos. I am just wondered for Omega Moonwatch how this story put so much attention. It was not unique watch on the moon, there was also Bulova :-) and without any issue.
Really enjoyed this Harrison. Like your multi tasking skills of making coffee at the same time 😁. I would had an explorer or explorer II instead of one of the Chronographs 👍

Great review. There is a difference between a 1 watch collection and a watch that people will buy if they can only buy 1 watch.Logines and Tag are at the top of the list with Longines being a better 1 watch collection and Tag being a watch that more people only buy one watch.
I noticed most of these watches also get talked about in multi watch collections. Basically buy as many or as few watches as you like and call it a collection
I would have liked to see the NOMOS Club and/or Tangente models on your list. Both offer exceptional value for money. And as an alternative for the very pricey IWC Ingenieur, the Mark XX would have been a good addition to the list as well. After all, the IWC Flieger watches are at least nearly as iconic as the Genta Ingenieur models.
I Loved Your Picks. Have some of them including the #1 pick the “Speedy”. The one that is on the top of my list to purchase is the Zenith Sport Chrono. I absolutely love it. I would take it Over Any other Watch on your list. Thanks for sharing your Opinion.
JLC Polaris - subscribed - my grail 1 watch. Until you own a JLC you cannot fully appreciate the step up in quality and finish compared to anything else in the price bracket. They are works of art!
For me the best one watch collection would be an Explorer 1 or an AquaTerra small seconds. That said I don't think I could go below a 2 watch collection. Would want to keep a g shock square for wearing on days I'd prefer not having 5-10k on my wrist and to the gym as the gshock timer function is perfect for workouts.
Excellent Video!!!! It allows me to see the perspective of other Watch Collectors!!!! But I would not have titled the video "The Perfect One Watch Collection", coz a collection, as the word indicates, is when you have several items that are similar among them. And one watch/item doesn't fill that description. I would had titled it The Best 20 Watches To Start your Collection!!!! Its strange for me that the Blancpain Fifthy Fathoms was not there, I would have included that one instead of the Submariner. But that is MHHO. But still, the list WAS FANTASTIC!!! And I liked the description given here for many of these models, and the take was excellent for the details!!!! And I liked even more for the # 1- Selection- The Omega Speedmaster "Moonwatch". I myself used to have 19 different variations of the Speedmaster, starting with a 145-012-67 with Caliber 321 that I got used in 1970, then a MarkII in 1972, and also included the 125 Anniversary that was the first Automatic Chronograph with Chronometer Certification with cal 1041, some 176.014s with Caliber 1045, and the Holy Grail that I lamentably sold, the 376-0822!!!! Now, I only have two, a 1980ish Moonwatch with cal 861, and a 2005 Co-Axial Chronometer with caliber 3313 or so. I have always loved Chronographs, my very first one, an Automatic Seiko Chrono my dad brought me from Japan in 1969, that I eventually learned, was the First Automatic Chrono ever made, with Vertical Clutch, Column Wheel, Magic Lever Auto Winding, and day/date!!!!!! I still have parts of that watch!!!!! Yes, my favorite Chronos have been Omega first, then Seiko. I used to have a Rolex 6265 "Paul Newman" with cal 72, but It was a lemon, so I sold it, no regrets, but my Omegas, there were something different!!!!
I have always found this channel strange. He goes out of his way to make the language like it is about him and not refer to Chisholm Hunter. Andrew was operating like an employee, but this seems like a personal channel.
the bb36 on a steel bracelet, its a diver a field watch and a dress watch all on one, and half the price of an explorer, also i would put the khaki field auto above the expedition, its got field watch dna with a touch of understated elegance
Good selection and mix across price ranges. I would have included a Cartier Santos for good measure and swapped the Zenith Chronomaster for an El Primero.
Including the Tank but not including the Santos is a total blunder, more so when you included a few divers and chronos that are not particularly suitable in many instances. The Santos even comes with the strap so you can dress it up and has 100m water resistance.
Good list - although while the 222 is grail status for many - I think in the classification of "all arounder/one watch collection" - the VC Overseas would have been the better choice to feature. Just given the fact that you have 150m of water resistence, anti-magnetic, steel case, 3 bracelet options that come with the watch, etc. Would I trade my Overseas for a 222 if given the chance at retail? Absolutely. But that wouldn't qualify it as a better overall perfect one watch collection.
You missed the Rolex Explorer. For a one watch collection you really need a watch with a plain bezel, not one festooned with numbers, so that it can blend into any environment. The Tank is an excellent choice but if you’re going to allow more than one brand from the same list the Santos also needs to be there.
I dont know about rankings necessarily because personal taste and price are always factors. I have a 21 year old Omega Seamaster 300 with the sword hands. It's never been serviced and still runs at a +1 second average per day. It's a great all around watch. I grew up during the US space program from Mercury to Gemini to Apollo. Because of that, my real prize is my Omega Speedmaster Pro Sapphire with its incredible 3861 movement. It too runs at +1 second per day with winding every other day. Its bracket is gorgeous and taoers from 20mmm to 15mm. I've worn it casually and with a sport jacket or suit and It looks right at home. When someone sees it and realizes what it is, and its history he usually wants to get a better look at it. One thing about the bracelet. As opposed to the older bracelets which were more "utility" like, the new one is a bit shinier and more dressy. I'm getting an Artem sailcloth strap with the Omega like deployment clasp delivered tomorrow and may use it for some everyday wear. I've always liked the way that my various chronographs over the years have looked on a solid black strap. It gives them more of that classic "tool"" feel.
Good list, but I’d include my one-and-done watch, that being my Rolex Explorer 124270, literally works in every situation and my other watches like my Pelagos 39 etc really had to take the back seat ever since I got the Explorer.
What do you guys think? Did I miss any?!
Yes.. you missed the Hamilton Khaki field auto. Its a great everyday watch.
To me the closest thing I can get to an objective answer would be the VC Overseas.
