Well, they are toys, so they're clearly not something you wan to bring to a Saber Legion match. Not to mention 2" blades would have you at a serious disadvantage. And you never want to use an LED-in-blade saber for heavy combat anyway (with the possible exception of Bendu, as they're warrantied). But for kid-on-kid sparring or adults just lightly playing around, they should stand up pretty well.
But due to animation and accuracy of the unstable blade, I think I kind of like the blade builders deluxe Kayla and save her a little bit better just because it has better animated LEDs along with the fire mold is around the main blade and it also looks a lot cooler

You can't remove the black connector piece from the blade, so you can't switch it that way. In theory, you could use a Dremel to remove the post from inside the hilt, which would allow you to use any of the blades on the hilt. I do plan to make a video testing if that works, but I have to figure out where my Dremel is packed, so not sure when I'll be able to get to that. @@changartguy99 Thanks! Yeah, looks like this was a Parks exclusive. I'd love to get my hands on one to see how it compares. Maybe if I find one at a good price on eBay...
That's answered at the 13:25 mark. Each hilt has a different shaped post, which prevents you from using the blade from one saber in another hilt. The exceptions are the 2022 hilts (Obi Wan, Ahsoka, and Chandrilla Starliner) which all use the same post. I plan to do a video taking a Dremel to the post to see if that makes it interchangeable. But it'll likely be a few weeks before that one goes up.
They stand up really well to young kids playing. If you get older kids really hitting hard you might have a few LEDs go out. But if they’re not being brutal, they’re pretty durable.
If you watch the end of my Luke toy review you can see what a heavily abused one looks like. These were ones a friend found at an escape room, so probably abused by adults. ruclips.net/video/veW3b3fThGs/видео.htmlm25s
It's been out of stock for a while one the US site. Sometimes the link shows the product as out of stock, sometimes it shows an error. It's still available on the UK site. And the version without the removable blade is available at the parks. My theory is that they're getting ready to replace it with the same saber but with "Skywalker" branding (like they did with the Legacy), now that the yellow Rey saber is out with the same name. But no way to tell if / when that will actually happen and when it'll be back in stock.
Target and Walmart usually have some of the Lightsaber Forge ones in stock, and sometimes the Darksaber. Their websites usually show what's in stock in what stores. For the electronic non-forge ones, you may need to go to Amazon or eBay, as I haven't seen those in store for a while. They might be in the process of being phased out.
@@Fanporium Thank you so much i have been collecting lightsabers since i was 6 and have never seen them look this good because most of mine are quite bulky
There's not a Luke ROTJ version, sadly. There are some differences between Luke's and Obi-Wan's. But no way to know if they will or when.

Hope they also release a true Rey version ( from her staff and with a yellow blade) . I display the series on the wall and the range of colors of red, blue, green, soon purple , with a yellow ( one day) will be great.
The old Hasbro Force FX line had a Qui-Gon Jinn saber. But there hasn't been a Disney Toy FX version. Even the Hasbro Force FX and DIsney Legacy metal Qui-Gon sabers have been retired for a while. So there's no easy to find licensed option for his hilt these days. (Though plenty of non-licensed ones in the $400+ range.)
I'll have a whole series of videos coming up for the metal non-toy lightsabers. Including how to find the best deals among the hundreds of LGT resellers like IW.
@@slayyde_3335 They just released the Rey scavenger yellow saber this week. So far it's only on the UK website and a few of the remaining Disney Stores. But as soon as I can get my hands on one I'll post a review.
There have been some cool ones over the years. When I was a kid, they were just empty tubes with hollow tips so they would "whoosh" with the wind when you swung them. And even those were amazing to us then.
It was the Ahsoka and Yoda that were out of stock last month. So yeah, just a matter of keeping the product pages bookmarked and opening them each day until they're back. Happy hunting!
I don’t think “packaging is a pain to open” is a valid complaint about anything anywhere. And the idea of worrying about the environment while purchasing a plastic and led product produced by a billion dollar company is a bit tone deaf as well
Depends on your definition. For kids play dueling? Absolutely. For teens or adults going full force? No. They’re far more durable than the old-fashioned telescoping blade sabers. But they do have the LESs inside the blade, so extreme force can still damage the LEDs.
Hear me out… the forge are lightsaber lego. They are so cheap that you don’t have to feel bad about modifying or painting it. If you’re trying to make your own saber, and don’t really want to copy a character, then the forge are actually better than the Dstore sabers. The Dstore are second to none for Larp and are very cost friendly, but they aren’t compatible with each other, let alone the forge. I’ve even come up with a new electronic kit for the forge that runs off an arduino nano, a 28mm high quality speaker, an accelerometer, and a retractable full light blade(it uses small LED and flexible wire). So long story short: for LARP/cosplay/ playing with your kids: get the Dstore sabers. If you want to experiment with custom lightsabers and don’t want to spend $400 for a proffie/neopixel setup for each saber the the forge is worth it. By my math, you can have more than a dozen different lightsabers with the upgraded electronics for $500, or the price of one adult “proffie/neopixel” saber. So for the saber enthusiast who has $500 to spend you have 3 choices: all of the Dstore sabers, a dozen lightsaber forge and a decent “lightsaber lego” kit, or one adult saber.
Luckily, that one tends to get restocked pretty regularly. And they’re almost always in stock in the parks. So your chances of getting one with a little patience are high. Good luck!
Anakin’s has been out of stock for over a year online (except the UK site). In the parks, they’ve only been carrying the non-removable-blade version. My theory is they’re going to replace the current “Rey” branding on it with “Skywalker” like they did with the Legacy version. But I keep waiting and it hasn’t happened yet. So we’ll see.
This is a fascinating rabbit hole. It looks like it might have existed as a Hasbro version first, then turned into the Parks exclusive. I have one of the Hasbro ones, I'm trying to get a hold of one of the current Parks ones (or at least get a photo of the legalese on it). Then I'll put out a review once I've gathered enough info to figure out the full story.
I get these look cool but I want to know about durability…maybe I should start a RUclips channel about the durability of these. There are sabers and I hope can handle a beating…?
Depends on what you mean by durability. They are toy, so they're great for kids playing in the back yard, but of course aren't going to hold up well to teens or adults smacking them really hard against one another. If you do make videos putting them through durability tests, definitely send me the link. Would love to see them!
Blinking is for humans. Err, I mean…lol This was only my second video. I was so nervous about trying to look at the camera instead of the screen that I forgot little things like appearing to be a normal human. Hopefully that’s improved a bit since. Hopefully!
@@Fanporium just a nit pick 😂 , tont actually worry about it , being nervous is normal ... but you did look like an alien not blinking 😂 Edit : yoda would be proud
Depends on what you want it for. If you're buying for a kid, neopixel is overkill. For spinning/combat, RGB is a much better option to avoid blade damage. For cosplay, the lower weight of these toy ones can be a great option for wearing around a con all day. As always, it depends on what you want from the saber.
Plastic is not the problem, it's people that are the real issue when they get either too lazy or incompetent about disposal. Responsible people shouldn't be invonvienced just because some dam fool can't tell the difference between garbage or recycling.
I see two problems with lightsaber nunchucks. 1) In-world, you'd slice your hands off. 2) In the real world, I would 100% smack myself in the face repeatedly while trying to learn them. And my face has taken enough damage over the decades! 🙂
@@Fanporium Im naturally good in using knife, swords and other weapons, so I did learn in no time, but it was not without pain for sure. I have them for a night, when it looks super cool doing fast tricks with them, but they are not made to hit anything with proper force. @@Fanporium Challenge refused. Im too violent for it. Im pretty good at sword, knife and nunchaku attacks. When I do not feel as violent I do tricks or jian chi, but tool simply for visuals is not for me. I have no use for cordination like that.
In a sense, the best lightsabers are always the ones from our youth. I still have a soft spot for the ones from the 80s that made whooshing noises when you swing them. But comparing the electronics and sound, it's no contest which are the best currently on the market.
They do have a green Luke saber in this line, but it's only available in the Disney parks and does not have a removable blade. My review of that one is here: ruclips.net/video/veW3b3fThGs/видео.html

@@Fanporium ruclips.net/video/3_oUFSbJ7Qw/видео.html
The vid gave me a good understanding why it's not on the Shop site .
@@changartguy99 Thanks! Yeah, looks like this was a Parks exclusive. I'd love to get my hands on one to see how it compares. Maybe if I find one at a good price on eBay...
@@Fanporium yeah. I found.out about the lock up feature on the vid. Tried it on my lightsaber and the thing works!
Please review the new darksaber
It’s on order. Review should go up some time next week!
I wonder if you can swap the blades with one another for added customization?
That's answered at the 13:25 mark. Each hilt has a different shaped post, which prevents you from using the blade from one saber in another hilt. The exceptions are the 2022 hilts (Obi Wan, Ahsoka, and Chandrilla Starliner) which all use the same post.
I plan to do a video taking a Dremel to the post to see if that makes it interchangeable. But it'll likely be a few weeks before that one goes up.
How durable are the Disney store lightsabers? I think my young children will love these but I don’t want them breaking them right away.
@@Fanporium awesome, thanks!
the link for Anakins does not work did they stop selling it?
It's been out of stock for a while one the US site. Sometimes the link shows the product as out of stock, sometimes it shows an error.
It's still available on the UK site. And the version without the removable blade is available at the parks.
My theory is that they're getting ready to replace it with the same saber but with "Skywalker" branding (like they did with the Legacy), now that the yellow Rey saber is out with the same name.
But no way to tell if / when that will actually happen and when it'll be back in stock.
@@Fanporium ooh ok ty (thanks for the very fast response)
@@Inari_28 If you watch the end of my Rae saber review, you can see my speculation of what the updated version might look like.
No, not the light saber forge ones, but the Disney store ones the blades and actually comes with the main hilt for each character based light saber
Where the heck can i find those Hasbro lightsabers i mean what store !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a Luke version from ROTJ with the green blade? Or is the hilt the same as the Obi Wan with the blue blade?
There's not a Luke ROTJ version, sadly.
There are some differences between Luke's and Obi-Wan's. Do a google image search for "luke vs obi wan lightsaber" and there's a quota post that shows them side-by-side.
Hopefully they'll add more sabers to this line over time. But no way to know if they will or when.
@@Fanporium thank you. I've been fortunate to build a collection just from Thrift store finds and deals on Ebay. I did find on Ebay a Luke Disney lightsaber and just bought it. I hope Shop Disney will restock the Obi Won.
@@changartguy99 I'm Sure they will. It just came out a few months ago, so there's no reason to think they'd discontinue it.

Hope they also release a true Rey version ( from her staff and with a yellow blade) . I display the series on the wall and the range of colors of red, blue, green, soon purple , with a yellow ( one day) will be great.
@@changartguy99 That would indeed be great to see. Fingers crossed!
what about quin gonn jinns?
The old Hasbro Force FX line had a Qui-Gon Jinn saber. But there hasn't been a Disney Toy FX version.
Even the Hasbro Force FX and DIsney Legacy metal Qui-Gon sabers have been retired for a while. So there's no easy to find licensed option for his hilt these days. (Though plenty of non-licensed ones in the $400+ range.)
There’s also Imperial workshop with a just $160 price
scravenger saber is on top
I'll have a whole series of videos coming up for the metal non-toy lightsabers. Including how to find the best deals among the hundreds of LGT resellers like IW.
@@slayyde_3335 They just released the Rey scavenger yellow saber this week. So far it's only on the UK website and a few of the remaining Disney Stores. But as soon as I can get my hands on one I'll post a review.
My dad when he was a kid he had the electronic lightsaber Luke Skywalker
There have been some cool ones over the years. When I was a kid, they were just empty tubes with hollow tips so they would "whoosh" with the wind when you swung them. And even those were amazing to us then.
sadly the two lightsabers i wanted anakin and obi wan are both out of stock but the second they have them im getting both
It was the Ahsoka and Yoda that were out of stock last month. So yeah, just a matter of keeping the product pages bookmarked and opening them each day until they're back. Happy hunting!
I don’t think “packaging is a pain to open” is a valid complaint about anything anywhere. And the idea of worrying about the environment while purchasing a plastic and led product produced by a billion dollar company is a bit tone deaf as well
Haha
why does the anakin link not work
It’s been out of stock on the US site for a few months. Except in the parks where it’s only the non-removable-blade version.
But they did just add a new toy Maul one today!
@@Fanporium oh, thanks!
Are they duel sturdy?
Depends on your definition. For kids play dueling? Absolutely. For teens or adults going full force? No.
They’re far more durable than the old-fashioned telescoping blade sabers. But they do have the LESs inside the blade, so extreme force can still damage the LEDs.
Thank you sir. I'll probably get a cheap adult replica
@@ZukoRenken Dark Wolf has some very good, affordable baselit sabers that make a great starting point.
Are they affordable
@@ZukoRenken The baselit ones start around $100.
That's a very fair point.
It looks like the Obi-Wan lightsaber is out of stock . . . I should have gotten it a couple of weeks ago! :(
Luckily, that one tends to get restocked pretty regularly. And they’re almost always in stock in the parks. So your chances of getting one with a little patience are high. Good luck!
@@Fanporium Thanks for the tip!
How come I didn’t seem Anakins in the Disney store
Anakin’s has been out of stock for over a year online (except the UK site). In the parks, they’ve only been carrying the non-removable-blade version.
My theory is they’re going to replace the current “Rey” branding on it with “Skywalker” like they did with the Legacy version. But I keep waiting and it hasn’t happened yet. So we’ll see.
@@Fanporium oh
Their was a luke skywalker lightsaber as well green
I haven’t been able to find any info on that one. Was it part of this same Disney Store line? Recent, or back in the day? Same LED-in-blade setup?
It was disney parks ecslusive
This is a fascinating rabbit hole. It looks like it might have existed as a Hasbro version first, then turned into the Parks exclusive. I have one of the Hasbro ones, I'm trying to get a hold of one of the current Parks ones (or at least get a photo of the legalese on it). Then I'll put out a review once I've gathered enough info to figure out the full story.

The toy obi wan kenobi lightsaber neck looks better than the legacy lightsaber obi wan
It certainly has nicer weathering. It’s probably cheaper to paint plastic than to weather metal. But the results are great.
Old Bladebuilders were the best.
No the retractable lightsabers from 2008 to 2015 are they best

I get these look cool but I want to know about durability…maybe I should start a RUclips channel about the durability of these. There are sabers and I hope can handle a beating…?
Depends on what you mean by durability. They are toy, so they're great for kids playing in the back yard, but of course aren't going to hold up well to teens or adults smacking them really hard against one another.
If you do make videos putting them through durability tests, definitely send me the link. Would love to see them!
The $35 mandolorian darksaber from Disneyland is okay but the first version from hasbro is much better
I prefer the Disney one. But it really depends if you like the squareish design from the cartoons or the more rounded design from live action.
@@Fanporium the hasbro version with the silver hilt is better and it has the lock on feature, the black hilt needs sound improvement and many changes

Hello There
get a xenopixel or neopixel. Its the best
These are budget legacy lightsabers
Pretty much, yeah. Amazing value for the price.
....Im I only one who actually have lightsaber nunchukus instead?
I see two problems with lightsaber nunchucks. 1) In-world, you'd slice your hands off. 2) In the real world, I would 100% smack myself in the face repeatedly while trying to learn them. And my face has taken enough damage over the decades! 🙂
@@Fanporium Im naturally good in using knife, swords and other weapons, so I did learn in no time, but it was not without pain for sure. I have them for a night, when it looks super cool doing fast tricks with them, but they are not made to hit anything with proper force. I wanted glowing nunchucks and then I found lightsaber chucks, so that is how I got those.

The best toy lightsabers are from the early 2000s
In a sense, the best lightsabers are always the ones from our youth. I still have a soft spot for the ones from the 80s that made whooshing noises when you swing them.
But comparing the electronics and sound, it's no contest which are the best currently on the market.
@@Fanporium fair enough. but for no electronics, those sturdy collapsible sabers could last through almost anything.

The build your own lightsaber in Disney is cool but you will most likely see kids with multicolored blades and mismatched hilts.
Not good for dueling
Not for adult dueling, certainly. But perfect for kids dueling.
Why no green Luke?
They do have a green Luke saber in this line, but it's only available in the Disney parks and does not have a removable blade. My review of that one is here: ruclips.net/video/veW3b3fThGs/видео.html

All of the removable blade ones are $35 online and $40 in the parks. This one is also $40 in the parks.
Would you say that these lightsabers are the best for this price?
100% yes. You can certainly find higher quality sabers, but you'd be looking at $100+ for a decent LGT starter saber or $150+ for a Disney or Hasbro character saber.
I'll be digging more into those in future videos.
