Nascar didn't retire Dale's number, it was always respect for the man nobody used it. Like Richard Petty's number, it wasn't used out of respect. There is no respect for the legends that made NASCAR. I liked it when they drove Real Cars that looked like what they are supposed to be driving.

Chris Johnson I still love watching 10 greatest Earnhardt moments. My favorite clip is in Japan when Sr n Jr are both driving Coca Cola cars. Jr cuts the old man off n Sr proceeds to jack him up clear down the next straight. One of the commentators says that's when Jr REALLY learned what The Intimidator was all about. I became an Earnhardt fan at Daytona in 79 when I was 11 years old. I was also there in 98 when he won it all and again on that terrible day when NASCAR changed forever. I still enjoy NASCAR and go to Michigan flying my Earnhardt flags every year, but, I still can't bring myself to go back to Daytona. I don't have a favorite driver anymore. There'll NEVER be another Intimidator and, the way NASCAR is these days, with all of the rules and corporate P.C. crap, they couldn't handle another one!

I was there that day, it was incredible! We had seats in one of the Birmingham towers close to the exit of pit road. This Gordon fan sitting next to me, hated Dale Earnhardt at the beginning of the race. With 3 laps to go, my buddy told him Dale was coming to the front and that dude laughed. At the end of the race, he said it,"Dale Earnhardt is the best!" Daytona's this weekend, 11 years gone. R.I.P. #3

If the chase didn’t exist Jimmie would only have 3 championships not to mention that half of his wins are cause of his crew chief. And sr made Jimmie and Gordon cause he taught Gordon and Gordon taught Jimmie all passed down from sr. Sr made it all.

This music video is from his last win, he went from 17th to 1st in 4 laps. No one knew he was even there until 2 laps left when he was flying in the outside lane.

That man was amazing. I was too young to understand what had taken place in 2001, but I later caught on that my favorite driver wasn't coming back. I was 6 when he died. Still feels like yesterday. I remember every little detail about the accident. My old friend (who I hate now) told me that he was glad Dale Sr died. I remember punching him square in the nose! I actually broke it! I was only 6 but if someone talked crap about my favorite driver, I didn't like it too much. MAN IN BLACK FOREVER!!!

I like Formula 1, JGTC, DTM, but there's nothing like Nascar from the golden days. No fancy gadgets, no bullshit rules. I forgot who said this, but I heard someone say something to the effects of this: Nascar ain't no oval track. It's three dimensional.
