How many times have you seen any race car driver advance 17 positions in 4 laps on a super speedway to win? Once? Yeah, I thought so! This was the greatest performance that I ever witnessed! He was THE MAN! R. I. P. Dale.
I never get tired of watching this. I unfortunately didn't get to watch Sr growing up (I didn't start watching NASCAR until 2008) but seeing these clips of him just shows how badass he was. RIP #3
This was and still is the best race I ever watched, the NASCAR fan base will never see a driver like Dale, I wish dale jr could be but unlikely. Hes still my favorite driver R.I.P Dale
Matt Bowen Jr is good based off of NASCAR standards he just won't ever been like Sr. this is by far the best I've seen by far. But I'm still a Jr. fan.
Racing changed since his father though. His dad was in the 'golden years' of racing free of restriction, and during the young years of current. The racing game was a different animal compared to what his father started with.
I get chills every time I see him take the lead in this race! The same with Dale Jr in the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona! The 2 most exciting races I’ve ever watched.
I grew up less than an hour away from this amazing track. Got the pleasure of being present for this at thirteen years old, thanks to my dad. Such an amazing atmosphere!!
Miss this man, pure soul on the track gave it his all every damn time. It's the same story with every racing series across the planet. when a single man that electrifies the track passes on, the sport just isn't the same. Nascar sure wont be, Dale owned the track and showed these boys who's boss and what it means to be a spirited driver. We may likely never see another Dale in our lifetime but somewhere there's a spirit inside someone that just might make the sport great again.
I was there on the backstretch, in the Allison grandstands (no longer there). That was my first cup race. I just moved up from Homestead to Atlanta, and all we had up to that point was Busch, and the truck series down south. I'm so freakin' thankful that I got to see THE MAN race, and WIN, just months before he died. Few years later, I took a trip to the opening of the Hall of Fame, in Charlotte, and in the ring of honor, was that very winning car. I wasn't expecting to see THAT car, and upon laying eyes on it, I broke down and cried like a child. Racing's never been the same since.
We had seats in the first row before the start/finish line.....and that sound would give ya goosebumps when they would come out of turn 4 heading right towards ya.....nothing beats it.
I remember the race quite well. It was very moving as the laps winded down to listen to the fans screams begin to grow. Thank you Dale for such great memories. You were and still are the greatest ever.
Great Racing... fans were so into it! Starting to think they should get rid of the out of bounds rule at Daytona and Talladega, with the safety in the cars and the soft walls i think is safe to bring it back, plus i also believe changing the cars on the Restrictor plate tracks so the closure rate on the car in front of you is a lot greater and the draft more effective. Would make for a lot better racing and in a sense 'safer' because drivers could get bumped out of line or back off without worrying about feeling like its impossible to get back to the front, and just staying on the gas and being a bit kamikaze to avoid losing momentum or being shuffled back in the pack... if that makes any sense.
They do that so they don't lose another racer I get what you're saying but let's face it losing Dale was hard enough you either loved him or hated him but everyone mourned for him and his family
A True champion, who could do anything in a race car. And Dale Jr, you were taught well. 1st year racing these guys, and two wins at Talladega. Coming off back to back Busch series championships. We miss you Dale. Never to be forgotten. 🙏 🏆#3 ❤️
I remember my Dad repeatedly yelling at the TV that Mike Skinner was a piece of shit for not drafting with JR or Dale in the last few laps of this race. 😂
That one race Bob Jenkins probably wishes he was calling instead of the 2000 IRL finale at Texas, even though that race was great with an exciting finish, it can't compare with this one.
Still have my alll chrome 1 24 scale 75th win car dale ..an many others ehhhmm. Right ...anyway Sooo glad to see i wasent the only one who suffered through races during the primitive days of cable ... on the absolute WORST TV cable Reception IN HUMAN HISTORY ...thank you 4k. Who my kidding id listen to this 1000 times more even if it was just sound . Benny ..HOWW DID HE GET THROUGH ALL THOSE CARS 😂
Wallace brags to this day,how he pushed him to the win, that is bullshit .Nascar is lost now, boring and not worth watching, unlike the days back when, just sayin'
That's racing. That's the end of an era.
David Helseth right about that
Actually it was the beginning of an era, the beginning of that package.
@@andrewr7982 best they ever had! Plate racing at its finest

Once? Yeah, I thought so!
This was the greatest performance that I ever witnessed! He was THE MAN!
R. I. P. Dale.
Nobama Gone yes Kevin Harvick did it at the 2007 Daytona 500.
Micheal waltrip that year at Daytona when jr won that was an incredible drive through the field that night
I never get tired of watching this. I unfortunately didn't get to watch Sr growing up (I didn't start watching NASCAR until 2008) but seeing these clips of him just shows how badass he was. RIP #3
Dale Earnhardt will forever be the best, and I also miss Benny Parsons.
Never would of thought this would of been Dales last win. Damn what a great driver he is. A freakin awesome win by the best driver ever.
He truly is the best driver ever!
Saw and remember this broadcast. Heart-pounding excitement. That's missing from today's game.
Huge kudos to the camera director. The camera work is always immaculate in these NASCAR races.
This was and still is the best race I ever watched, the NASCAR fan base will never see a driver like Dale, I wish dale jr could be but unlikely. Hes still my favorite driver R.I.P Dale

Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr Might be candidates

@@yourfirsthouseinminecraft4531 LMMFAO 😂
I still get goosebumps.. Every time I watch these last 5 laps, I still watch it with the same aw & amazement I had that day..
I was breathless! What nads all those guys had! That was CRAZY!!! Five wide, 200 MPH, inches apart. You have to have balls of fuggin steel!!!
I get chills every time I see him take the lead in this race! The same with Dale Jr in the 2001 Pepsi 400 at Daytona! The 2 most exciting races I’ve ever watched.
RIP Dale Earnhardt. Best NASCAR Driver ever! 1951-2001
I agree so much! Dale will always be the best NASCAR driver ever! We all love you Dale!
David Pearson was the best ever, Dale was good no doubt but nothing like David Pearson.!!
@@johnlaws8764 ok lol
When I watched this live I couldn’t have been happier, now it almost hurts to watch. We miss ya, ole Ironhead
THIS was the best race I ever saw...That car was really fast.
I grew up less than an hour away from this amazing track. Got the pleasure of being present for this at thirteen years old, thanks to my dad. Such an amazing atmosphere!!
I drove 9 hrs from northern Indiana to that track for 8 consecutive year's. Best track, best fans, and friendliest people ever, are there in Alabama

You just dont see that kind of racing anymore
Now you need to get "clean air" to pass people. Complete bullshit
Nor do you see the stands full of fans anymore. It'll never be as enjoyable like it was then.

😂😂😂
Now THAT is racing. Man, I wish the good old days.
+AVaneDew they need to go pack to this kind of racing
Earnhardt behind the wheel with Benny, Ned & Dr. Punch in the booth. It will never be this good again. :'(
I was there in person that day. Little did I know at the time, I was witnessing the legend take his final checkered flag.
Guy was just amazing to watch!! R.I.P Dale, you were definitely the best
I couldn't agree more! Dale was and will always be the best!
ggautog I couldn't agree more!
Dale was one of the best no doubt but David Pearson was the absolute best.
Never gets old!
Dale! You will always be the best NASCAR driver ever! You were and will always be the best Dale! :)
David Pearson.!!
I was there!
u lucky bugger i was just walking
That sound!
We had seats in the first row before the start/finish line.....and that sound would give ya goosebumps when they would come out of turn 4 heading right towards ya.....nothing beats it.
If racing was still like this, I'd be watching every Sunday like in the old days.
Miss you Dale Sr!!! You will never be forgotten !!!
Nope! Dale will *NEVER* be forgotten! Greatest driver ever!
Nothing beats a Talladega race with 3/4 fans pulling for #3. I love Earnhardt, but even more, the memories that track has given me...
That was single handedly the greatest display of driving talent in the history of NASCAR! Could he see the air?......you bet your sweet a$$ he could!!
Best season of nascar the drivers nascar had or 1999 actaully every driver just legendary just stacked
I remember the race quite well. It was very moving as the laps winded down to listen to the fans screams begin to grow. Thank you Dale for such great memories. You were and still are the greatest ever.
And when you see that black number 3 start moving to the front in crunch time, That's when you knew that passion to never quit was showing.
Back when nascar was popular. Stands 100% filled to the brim. Now youre lucky to have half the stands full at 99% of the races.
This is when men were men. Awesome
One day, I believe someone will come into the scene of NASCAR and attempt to top Dale Earnhardt's records. They will at least try.
Dale was great but he was never as good as David Pearson.!!
Jeff Gordon did. He has everything but championships, but hed have those if they never changed from the winston to the chase format.

Still brings tears to hear the crowd on TV. I was there. Back when they had the backstretch seats. 150K + there
G.O.A.T.
I remember watching this race seemed like just yesterday can't believe it's been that long ago! R.I.P. Dale!

Every lap was crank it up
This is REAL NASCAR
Still get goosebumps in 2018, can't believe we lost him a few months later, damn.......
That’s racing ..miss number 3
One of the most incredible driving displays period.
Every time I see the 3 push through the group I can't help but smile. That's how you race a restrictor plate track.
Can't say nothing but 😲😲😲!!!
Damn , He is good ;)
I remember watching that race. He could see the air.😉
Rest in peace Dale 3♥️
HAVE IT ALL, LOSE IT ALL !!!
I was there man hell of a race from 18th to winner 🏆, good day 👍
Anyone notice how At the end he goes up the track and down to screw up there wind and he wins he was AWASOM ! RIP DALE 1951 2001
One word "chills "
The Legend.
There will NEVER be another like the # 3
Dale was great but he was no David Pearson!!
I can only imagine with the DEI cars of the future how many more wins he would’ve had…RIP 3. Boss.
Now a days, half the field would be black flagged for going below the yellow line.
I miss DE. That was a race.
3:56 perfect
WHATS THE NAME OF THE COMMENTARIST PLEASE??
richard johnson Benny Parsons, Ned Jarrett and Jerry Punch
RIP to the GOAT
5 of the most balls out laps of racing you'll ever see. Fitting that Earnhardt took the checkered flag.
That one race Bob Jenkins probably wishes he was calling instead of the 2000 IRL finale at Texas, even though that race was great with an exciting finish, it can't compare with this one.
I doubt we'll ever see another driver that can make the fans cheer so loud that they drown out the roar of the engines.
Dame drivers with the name Dale Earnhardt are probably the best plate racers
best f'ing finish ever.
Check out the 1974 Firecracker 400 if you want to see the most dominant NASCAR finish ever.!!!!!!!!!
When NASCAR was good. #3!
