Dale Sr would later state that car was the best race car that he ever drove. He put his crew through hell to make sure that they got the car right to his satisfaction.

Had he not wrecked, he was absolutely NOT going to win the 2001 Daytona 500. He was purposely staying back and blocking for Mikey and Dale Jr. to guarantee one of his cars won that race. That became very clear the last few laps of the race as he was quite content coming home third behind them.

Dale talking about his mom got me like 🥺
That black #3 Goodwrench is a classic. I hope it's in a museum.
I wonder how old JR was when his dad today.
Long Live Number 3
After 20 years of trying to win the Daytona 500, he finally got it done in 1998.
Same here it was amazing see everyone line up
I am so glad i was born 29 days before this race
Best line 1A: "This will be the **LONGEST RECEIVING LINE** in the history of celebrations!!"
I think everyone, Dale Earnhardt fan or not, was excited to see Dale finally win the Daytona 500 after nearly two decades of frustration and so many tries at winning, only to come up short and have so much disappointment; I don't think anyone who watched this race, myself included, will ever forget it.
As a young kid watching this made me wanna work hard and get it
Dale Sr would later state that car was the best race car that he ever drove. He put his crew through hell to make sure that they got the car right to his satisfaction.

Gets me Everytime.
Very proud grin
I love Dale so much
The year Dale wins the Daytona 500, Plus is on the hood of the car instead of the GM Goodwrench logos.
I always thought it was strange that this was that one last thing he had to do to be able to say he had done it all. Almost if the track was alive, it had to get even with him somehow so then came the day 3 years later that we all remember as well.
he had at least 3 or 4 more seasons left in him he probably would've won the 2001 title and perhaps jr would've won a title rip Dale we miss u :'(
Had he not wrecked, he was absolutely NOT going to win the 2001 Daytona 500. He was purposely staying back and blocking for Mikey and Dale Jr. to guarantee one of his cars won that race. That became very clear the last few laps of the race as he was quite content coming home third behind them.
Ken Squier is THE VOICE OF NASCAR.....I know he did pre-race in New Hampshire and I believe does PA at Lowes Motor Speedway...I miss him because he excelently described races.....espically Daytona
my mistake. I looked it up, his first race was 1975 so change "or 1978 if you count before his rookie year" to "or 1975 if you count before his rookie year"
Sorry, just wanted to clear that up, for myself if not anyone else.
