2001-2004 those DEI cars were straight DOGS. They were freakin close to winning every single Daytona/Talladega races through those years. Not only that, finished 1-2 for like 8 of them. Lmao just ridiculous!
Budweiser Dale Jr. was such a Privilege to watch Growing up as a Kid. He was The Heart & Soul of NASCAR to me. Seeing that Red #8 was always a thrill. After he Became whatever it was after that.....the spirit & Joy of it all just seemed to die out.
There was a great interview with Ricky Rudd back in his last year as a owner driver of the Tide #10 where he called out Hendrick on what you've described
2001 was the beginning of the end... if Adam Petty and Dale Earnhardt never died NASCAR would of been completely different. Instead we saw Kyle Petty driving his sons 45 depressed and DEI eventually being liquidated like Rudd Motorsports? It's cool to see Lajoie operating out of Kulwickis old shop, but the sport has lost so much Edit: For me it's depressing to even watch and I feel alot of the faithful feel/felt the same especially watching Johnson dominate the sport for 6 straight years during that time span?
Well, plate racing wasn't really the same animal it was back in these days. Cars are too equal now, and recent repaves on both plate tracks threw handling out the window. Now that both tracks are wearing out we're starting to see the better drivers winning on those tracks again.
The obvious is if sr lived. 2014 jr was amazing and he was already dating Amy. A kid who got his dads legacy thrown onto him and lost his father with tons of money. He’s said multiple times he didn’t take shit serious enough. His dad in his ear and on his ass would have gotten the most out of jr. sad jr really started to figure it out as his head injury re appeared worse, then understandably he lost his nerve. As bad as I wish he was in a car still, I’m happy for him, he chose his future over driving 🤷♂️ hard not to respect it. Dei situation was sad, but hard to say a Hendricks car wasn’t good enough to win and that’s from a die hard jr fan
All u seen back then on those plate tracks were red and blue bud car and napa car screaming to the finish jr and waltrip DEI in general dominated plate tracks I get chills thinking
@@NASCARFAN93100yeah, also in 05 or 06 he had the best car again, was dominant and vickers spun Johnson taking jr out as the leader coming to checkers. 06 I believe. As much as jr won there, he could easily have a few more
Dale Jr isn’t the best nascar driver ever......he never even won a championship. I’m a big Jr fan, but don’t be stupid. it’s not an opinion either it’s a fact. You can’t even be looked at as one of the best when you never won a title.
DO IT FOR DALE but he didn’t, therefore my point still stands lol again.....and was my 2nd favorite driver back when i watched Nascar regularly....im not hating....but he still isn’t even close to one of the best.
and teresa ruined it all after dale's death even drove junior to jump ship and go to hendrick and then the team got absorbed into chip ganassi racing. good job wicked west of the south (sarcasm)
If Dale hadn’t died, it would’ve been DEI 1-2-3 at Daytona… which is like Ford 1-2-3 at Le Mans. From there, I see multiple DEI championships, probably an 8th championship for Sr, and 2-3 championships for Jr. That’s Buffalo-level bad sports luck right there… I would know, I’m from there.
DEI was championship bound, it's really a shame, those plate track cars just dominated. I miss this bee hive pack type racing.

Thank Teresa

All the success with DEI and it took him 11 years to win again with Hendrick. Damn dude.

Not his fault he had his chances and got robbed in quite a few
The good old days
Listen to those cars roar n the crowd roar too.
If dei never died off and changed everything after 04 jr would of been something special.
After he got married and had that bad wreck. He lost his nerve
Amen brother. A fuckin men
He won 6 damn races in 04 and was one cuss word away from championship and Theresa wants to do a complete overhaul. My God!

Just imagine Sr, still being around to keep that DEI ship sailing properly. This was a fun time to be a fan.
Just think he could was in contention to win 7 in a row
Seen this live back in the day but just noticed that number 8 looked like a number 3 after rubbing.
Spooky
Look at those stands back then!!!! The Earnhardts are gone from Nascar and it has turned into a ghost town at races these days.
My god, the sound of those engines compared to today’s, unreal.
All u seen back then on those plate tracks were red and blue bud car and napa car screaming to the finish jr and waltrip DEI in general dominated plate tracks I get chills thinking
Jeff Gordon & Michael Waltrip are the 2 drivers not named Dale Earnhardt Jr to win at Talladega from the fall of 2001 to the fall of 2004
And jr finished 2nd both times! Lol. Should have won that 1 against Gordon. Had the best car, caution came 1 second before jr made the pass
@@stevenwalker9013 As a fan of both Gordon & Dale Jr I have mixed feelings about the 2004 Aaron's 499

Takeaways from this video: Junior wins dega a lot, and Gordon crashes the final 2 laps at dega even more.
If only JR won the title in 04 then 04 wouldnt be the shitty season as we call it today
Thank Carl Edwards wrecking him and NASCAR being PC over one cuss word for that
@@JJA1987 Nascar killed Jr with the stupid cuss rule not Carl.
NASCAR fucked us! that should have been a points deduction for the owner and a simple fine for the driver. the driver points deduction was bs

It's still there

His father won here 10times😎
Daytona and Talladega were Earnhardt country
Awesome video! I was there for #3 and #5. My favorite track. The place was packed and rockin! Doesn't get any better than that.
I love The Talladega SuperSpeedway crowd. Always rowdy n raucous. Talladega SuperSpeedway will always be my favorite track.
