Just noticed that when snufkin thought moomintroll how to skate he immediately got it. Snufkin knows how to approach moomintroll and he listens when snufkin speaks. But when moominpappa tried to teach him to ski it was a huge disaster, moominpappa doesn't fully get his son like his crush-i mean good pal does and on the other way moomintroll doesn't naturally pour all that interest into things. Idk i find it sweet

The thing is I’m not sure they’d ever canonize it, but there was loads of gay subtext in the source material (books). The author was bi I believe (although she was from before labels were widely used so that’s not really confirmed, all that’s known is that she dated both men and women, and settled with a woman in the end), and she based moomin & Snufkin’s dynamic on one of her own relationships. So yeah the romantic reading of them is definitely valid, but because the books were written before positive gay relationships were allowed to be portrayed, we never really got to see it be stated outright. Tbh I doubt that we’ll ever see it in an adaptation either, because they usually treat Snorkmaiden as the de-facto love interest, but one can hope.
