I always wondered why people use the dragon jealousy part. I mean, English is not my native language, so maybe it has a different meaning, but what I understood was that Moomintroll was jealous of Snufkin because he got all the dragon's attention, while Moomintroll wanted the dragon's attention to himself, so that's why he used that tone when he said "He only has eyes for Snufkin". I mean, I don't think Moomintroll was jealous of the dragon, but instead jealous of Snufkin. I don't get this little part :(

On the surface Moomin seems upset because the dragon is fond of Snufkin, but the reality is that the dragon symbolizes Snufkin himself in the eyes of Moomintroll. Love me as you loved me from the start” and it’s clearly not referred to the dragon, sice it didn’t “love him from the start” To put it simply: Moomintroll wants the dragon to love him but he’s projecting onto Snufkin. So, he wants SNUFKIN to love him (like he does)
