The two are completely separate adaptations. Some of the stories adapted are from the books so of course there are episodes that are similar but watching moominvalley won’t ruin your experience of the 90s cartoon at all! The characterizations and worlds are actually vastly different especially with what is and isn’t affordable and possible for the 3D animated one. You can definitely enjoy both shows at once without ruining one or the other. :)
