I made it last night, I used cornstarch and gf flour to thicken. It came out great!! I tried pounding it into a ball lol but that didn't work but still tastes great! Also, I had to add water to the potatoes they were so thick my little food processor stopped processing. Love this thank you! 💝

Not a potato bit left! We had ours with a peanut chicken stew and a peanut vegetable stew. Will try out other fufu via your instructional video. Bless you 🤗
Thank you so much for this beautiful feedback. I am very happy to hear that the recipe worked for you and your family. Thank you for stopping by and God bless you too.❤️🤗
I’m African American and I absolutely love Nigerian food, especially Fufu! I always order extra! As you may know, casasava, yuca, and plantain isn’t a staple in American diets but I always have potatoes. This is a great way to use up potatoes to go bad. Thanks for much! Can’t wait to make this!
My husband wants fufu again, he says he loved it when he tried it with his family. I haven’t been able to find any cassava so this is wonderful!! I’m so happy I’ll be able to make him food he loves and I’ll be able to try some as well. Thank you ♥️
This is a new one for me. We used potato starch and instant potato flakes before African foods came to the USA. There are many African food stores where I live. However the products can be quite expensive. So I will try your recipe. Looks great!
The bowl in that you "stamped" the Fufu remembered me of my visit at a Ghanaian families place, where we were happy to spend two weeks. In that bowl they prepared red pepper bells for the dish. It was a great time and from then on I love Banku and Fufu very much ❤️
It is an earthenware bowl called Asanka. We eat in it and use it as a grinder too, it's actually very multipurpose. I am so happy to read you had such a good time in my homeland.❤

Love this video. If you are in the US, use the baking potatoes, the big brown ones . It has the texture more of yam. I use it to make pounded yam substitute.
I personally didn't like the texture Cornstarch gave me, so I don't recommend. But I would really love to hear how it went for you. A lot of people in the comment section would like to use Cornstarch too. Your feedback could be very valuable to a lot of people.🤗❤️

Been searching for forever on how to make this with potatoes. My dad needed extra help when it was coming to the end of his life and we had a few nurses who would stay up thru the night to take care of my dad. I was a night owl and would stay up and keep the coffee pot filled/hot for the nurse. I got to talking to one gentleman and he got really excited when i was asking about his background. He whipped out his lunch his wife made him after about 15 minutes of talking and asked if he could eat his lunch and i said for sure. He looked at me with the biggest eyes and said "would you like to try?" and i said yes if it was ok and he got even more excited and set it all up. it was this and his wife made a thicker soup to dip it into. I freaking loved it and told him to give his wife a big ol hug for me because it was so yummy. We only had 2 more nights together and i've never seen him again, i hope he and his wife are living well ❤ edit: forgot to add, his wife gave me my own the next day 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you! I have been looking for this recipe for so many years. After eating real fufu (made of fresh yam) in Benin about 20 years ago, I could not find out how to get this real fufu consistency. It is just not the same as just mashed yam. Now I understand how. Thank you for this video! Does yam contain enough starch on it's own?
Yam fufu has a different texture than this fufu. It is also prepared differently. But usually, Yam fufu is made with only Yam without any extra starch. I hope this helps.
I haven't tried it with all purpose flour before, it might work, but may also change the taste. I have tried it with Cornflour before and it didn't work. The starch content is not high enough to bind everything together.
So excited to try this recipe! 🎉 Thank you so much for sharing! 🙏🏾 About how long do you boil your potatoes? Also, are you cooking the fufu on a medium heat the whole time? How long does it take to stir and cook before it is done? Thank you again for answering questions!
I am happy to know you are excited about trying the recipe. Boil the potatoes until soft. I can't give a specific time because it depends on the quantity and type op potatoes. You can't go wrong here. Just boil them until they are very soft. Yes, I am cooking it on medium heat the whole time. Again, how long it will take depends on the quantity. But the stirring and turning may take about 15 minutes for the amount I made. I hope this helps. 🤗
@@AmazinKitchen yes! It really helps. I made it and it came out okay. Not nearly as good as yours looked and it took much more potato starch to get it to bind but we got there in the end. It was very smooth and very delicious.
