A fan tribute to Friday the 13th, Never Hike Alone follows an adventure blogger, Kyle McLeod (Andrew Leighty), who uncovers the long lost remains of Camp Crystal Lake while on a solo backpacking trip. Ignoring the campfire tales from his childhood, Kyle's search turns deadly when he makes the grave mistake of crossing the path of Camp Blood’s legendary mass murderer, Jason Voorhees. Stranded in the forest with Jason on his heels, Kyle must push his survival skills to their limits if he hopes to survive the night. Otherwise, he'll wind up as another lost victim of the cursed camp.

This, to me, is the greatest fan film ever made. In fact, this is not a fan film at all. It is simply an amazing movie, made with love and passion and care by someone who LOVES this Franchise. When Hollywood inevitably reboots Friday the 13th, the way David Gordon Green and Co. did with Halloween, Vincente DiSanti is the person who should helm the movie.

This movie proves it's better to have a small cast , that actually act, than big cast that can't. !! The Hiker Guy was Great, and way it was filmed was Amazing !!

Awesome! This could easily be on Netflix or Prime. As a long time F13 fan, I like how this is a small side story that could easily fit anywhere in the main timeline. One small tweak I would make to the script is when the hiker mentions the Pamela murders from 30 years ago, but is unaware of all the many Jason massacres. He later says "Jason is real!" This part kind of doesn't make sense as Jason's massacres would have been headline news. But man, this is better than some of the real sequels.
I can see where that could be confusing, but its done on purpose to a degree.
The idea is that everyone in 2017 thinks Jason is long dead. People of Kyle's age only generally know what happened and inherited a watered down version's of Paul's campfire tale. He doesn't know details like we do, or else he'd never step foot in there.
It's also meant to serve as a simplification for the supernatural origin story of Jason returning from his watery grave upon his Mother's beheading. Thats a big part why Kyle dismisses it as a "Ghost Story."
@@WompStompFilms I feel you. And to be fair, all the actual sequels do the same thing- the characters talk about Jason like he is an urban legend. I just always find that funny because after killing 100ish people, Jason would be as famous as Bundy or Dahmer, or Manson and would have been in headline news. But its a horror trope, like groups splitting up :)

This is the best Jason fan film everything about is is perfect like how jason is much more calculating and strategic rather than walking around until he gets someone. I’m amazed looking forward to see more👍

WHOOOOAAAAAAA! Found footage?!?! I started the Never Hike Alone 2 before this and commented I wish it was a found footage style as the thumbnail gave me that vibe. Looked into the channels other videos, saw they had a Never Hike Alone 1, started watching this one instead! Crazy!

Ok I’ll admit I had my doubts at first about this fan made film and was falling asleep but THEY GOT TOMMY! No way lmao that was so epic seeing him come back like this. Love how they included his most iconic line. If Thom Mathews was willing to be a part of this it can’t be all bad. Looking forward to part 2

I watched the first NHA when it came out and still love it to this day. Job well done to everyone who worked on this project. Besides NHA 2 will there be other movies because your story and ghost jason is just too dam good I can imagine ghost jasons clothes becomes more wear and ripped due to the fighting. maybe I am saying this since you guys are the only fan flims I think are apart of the timeline. I do not expect a friday film for years and you guys are the closest to finishing the timeline after 8. Edit 1: Also ghost jason besides 6 is too fucking drip lookin

Films are meant to be viewed at 24FPS, so unless it’s animation, I don’t recommend watching movies at that high of a frame rate :)

Make a part 3
Just out of curiosity, once you're done with Never Hike Alone 2, would you ever consider doing a Nightmare on Elm Street fan film? I've had ideas for both Jason and Freddy stories and I think Freddy is in desperate need of some modern appreciation.
(I ramble quite a bit below, so if you choose to read all of this, bear with me)
I've been trying to get into both acting and writing, so I think a lot about this stuff, and while I have way more ideas for how I would do a Jason movie, I think Freddy needs it more at this point. I imagine he could start out as vengeful and angry, killing the kids in their dreams purely out of revenge for what they did, but over time he starts to actually get used to his new situation, begin experimenting within it, and grow to appreciate it, to the point that when confronting the final girl/guy, he straight up forgives them. Saying that they gave him a life he could never have dreamed of and he's grateful for it. Not that he was innocent before, but he would still be mad before he realizes the potential of his situation.
I also like what the remake did in terms of micronaps and keeping the protagonists awake long enough that they fall into a coma when they finally do sleep, but the result of that should be drawn out more. If Freddy is going to go that route with his victims, he shouldn't just kill them right away like he tried to do with Nancy, but rather use her inability to wake up to spend a WHILE playing with her. Torturing, experimenting, and just generally having a ball until someone wakes her up because he got carried away or until he finally gets bored and kills her. Like maybe he has the power to heal people in their dreams and uses it to prolong torturing people he really wants to fuck with.
I also think the scene with Nancy watching video footage of the sleep deprived guy has great potential, so maybe one of the kids who doesn't get killed in the opening is documenting his experience, unsure of what they mean, and then when the film ends and everyone thinks Freddy is gone, the final scene is of the documentary being posted and gaining views, symbolizing Freddy's influence spreading outside of the circle of kids who he was initially after. Not sure if there would be enough runtime to convey that his power stems from people knowing about him and being afraid of him for that to be impactful, though.
One last thing is that while I generally like Freddy's design, his clothes feel out of place. Like his skin usually works, but his clothes never really say "I just burned in a fire", so maybe that could be incorporated more into the design. Have some more burns, more tatters, maybe having the leather of the glove melted/partly fused to his hand, stuff like that.
Sorry for the rambling, I just think something like this would be cool. I would do it myself, but I have no experience, resources, time, or really anything to even begin. I'd love to try, though. Or at least be involved if someone else were to try.

This is the equivalent of a modern Friday the 13th movie because of the whole hiker Vlog thing I didn't like it when I first saw the movie but over time I got used to the whole idea plus I like Jason's look in this movie every movie in the franchise gives him a new look and even though this is a fan film I still think Jason's ghost look is awesome and I think it really suits him because he does look like a ghost granted he is technically a ghost because he's practically an undead killing machine but it still counts
