I find it especially telling that these fans got together and made something that was better than two attempts by Rob Zombie with studio backing. Kudos, filmmakers. You've done the Shape proud.
Bit of a stetch to say better than Rob zombie lol, there were zero jump scares, zero story line, ok it was entertaining enough but hardly gripping and enthralling by any means. Sure it was an OK amateur film, but absolutely no rival to the Rob zombie version. I liked it enough to watch till the end but I've seen better fan films here on RUclips. Sorry its just my opinion.

The best of the fan films I've seen to date. It captures the mood of the first two films 75% of the time, if not more. Very impressive. The idea of the plot taking place at, Smiths Grove Sanitarium,, was not only a great original concept, but it was also the right one. Bravo!

I remember watching this 9 years ago. I thought it was official, seeing it now it still holds up and it's fantastic!!!!
First day of shooting was August 24th this year. This was made specifically for a Fan Film festival that didn't end up happening.
10 days (3 weekends) of shooting, 3 weeks editing and 2 weeks of music composition. And we finished September 30th, 2012
Very nicely done . Had that " authentic " Halloween movie feel to it throughout most of it . Would enjoy seeing you do another :)
I passed up Netflix and Hulu tonight and watched this instead on a whim at 3am -- alone in the dark. As someone whose seen all the studio Halloween films, I still quite enjoyed your movie. This was a labor of love and that's what fan films should be. You really captured the tone and spirit, and portrayed The Shape effectively. Nice work & thanks for the entertainment.

Oh I know...it's hard, I would know having made films quite a lot over many years. It's difficult to find the resources to pull something like this off. From the locations to the actors and production value, it isn't easy. That's why this is so impressive. It seems very professional.

Darren Jones has to direct the next Halloween movie. John Carpenter is involved with it, so I really hope he has some say in it and doesn't let Blumhouse release some shitty cash grab. This fan film was such a great film, and it was shot in 10 days. That's pretty damn impressive. John Carpenter and the people at Blumhouse need to see this. We, the people of the internet need to make it happen! Who's with me on this?

strangerathome No problem man. And I really do mean what I said. I tend to watch the original Halloween series about once a year and after Resurrection or H20 depending on if I'm able to suffer through Resurrection, I always watch this. Because to me this is an official Halloween movie.

Not bad; some of the parts with Mikey were pretty suspenseful and brought me back to the first two Halloween movies. You nailed his look and mannerisms just right and the mask is finally correct, after each sequel after two got it totally wrong.
Came back to watch this years later. You guys are awesome, especially knowing your past work in the 90s in producing other fan films. You should be proud of it!
This is beyond impressive. This is outstanding and I was completely glued .... I loved it! I have to say whoever played Michael Meyers was spot on.. Additionally, the mask is IDENTICAL to the one in the original film in every aspect.
Loved the attention to detail you had for Michael Myers, like the upturned collar, the way he faces forward when going down stairs, etc. Also lots of homeage paid to other films in the Halloween franchise. Loved it!!!
Ahh this is great. I have seen 2 amazing fan films tonight. People complain about bad or overacting but they forget, this isn't JLC, these are fans. Far better than I could have done and I am obsessed with Halloween. Fan films usually make me sad because they don't really appreciate the film but I think you guys did great!

This is what the recent Halloween movies have been missing! The autumn atmosphere with the corn fields in the beginning and orange color tones with oak trees falling in the ground is perfect for a Halloween movie!

This Fan Film was aamazing. the scenes underground in the basement or boiler where the fake Michael was found dead in that long narrow walk way, Reminded me of Halloween 6 (theatrical cut) when Michael chasing tommy Kara and Danny toward the end of that film

Really great job on this fan film guys. Once they got to the sanitarium, it really picked up and had a good vibe. The shot at 37:12 was the most "Halloween" feeling moment since 1981's second Halloween in the series, as the mask you chose was the best since the original mask as well. To make a film like this is MUCH harder than most people realize. To the makers of this film, you should be be very proud of what you accomplished with it. Really nice job, with some legit cool and scary moments.

You guys that made this, wasn't to bad a job. You had the credits beginning the sort of introduction, the suspense the sound effects. For a B grade movie I actually enjoyed. Keep on going, you will make a teriffic movie one day
This is up there as one of the best fan films in my opinions everything was executed perfectly from the music, the angles, the characters and the plot
You can see that Darren's strengths are in directing. The opening sequence is a wonderful tribute to Halloween 4's eerie beginning. I can see how Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 inspired Darren's vision for this movie. Darren does a great job of filming Michael and that's where this movie shines. The chase scenes, the ambience of Michael's presence, and the death scenes are strong. The weakness of this film is the writing. This is not necessarily a bad script, but it lacks sequential unity. I teach all of my screenwriting students to make sure that each scene pushes the plot of the film forward. The audience must feel that each scene has relevance. For example, the opening scene of 4 random teens discussing their lives adds nothing to the story. You lose the audience's attention immediately. They come to see Michael's story not four random people with vague character traits. What this script needed was an action opening that somehow connects us back to one of the Halloween sequels (i.e. H20 or Halloween 6). There must be an immediate hook at the start, something with substance. Look at how H20 begins with Marion Chambers arriving to find her home broken into, or look at the great ambulance scene on a rainy night in Halloween 4. Both of these openings hook the audience. I would love to see Darren find a strong writer to see what he can do with a more cohesive script. Keep going Darren. You have the visual talent. Now find a good writer, and the two of you can make an amazing Halloween Fan Movie.

Man this was a damn good fan-film, to be honest I actually enjoyed this a lot more than a lot of the sequels and remakes, You guys kept it simple but subtle just like the 1978 original.

Considering Halloween 1978 was done with virtually no budget either, and was thought to be a potential flop..... this isn't bad.
I had no idea this was in existence. This is the most brilliant fan film I have ever seen in any genre. You have captured all the unique moments of what makes Halloween and have paid homage to (from what i felt and saw and experienced) not only the original Halloween but 2, 4, 5, 6, H2O and Resurrection in my opinion. In fact, you have just given me closure with the timelines for 4, 5, and 6 as well as H2O and Resurrection as individual timelines and that coupled with the new Halloween next month makes it on helluva special 4oth anniversary for sure. Well done indeed. Including Smith's Grove in the storyline as well as the grown up boys from the original makes it all the better in light of the connections the other films made to the original was brilliant and you captured everything perfectly in a way a writer/storyteller/filmmaker hopes to achieve and did a fine service to adding to this wonderful franchise of stories. Thank you for concluding the stories for me from my perspective... perhaps thats what you were trying to do with this story but if not, you certainly made an impact that way. Ending it the way you did, well that's almost a perfect ending to the entire matter because, well, evil is always out there and the boogey man is unstoppable and endures by the very nature of it so while there is always more story to tell, the open endedness is quite logical. Bravo and a standing ovation to all who made this.

it deserves 5 stars it was pretty descent I've watched all the fan films this one by far the best one the mask is a exact match which is not a easy feet but keep them coming I mean really you can work the kinks out as you go and they'll just get better and better

Okay I'm really impressed this is actually pretty good compared to Rob Zombie's remake. I like the references to the original Halloween movies. You keep this up you will be on you're way to the big screen.

Rob Zombie's first Halloween was a classic. More brutal than any other entry to come before it. The sequel was 'meh', but had one of the most intense openings of any horror movie I've ever seen. So no, this isn't pretty good by comparison, though I appreciate the effort.
@@videoorgy I have to respectfully disagree but admire we both are horror fans well I used to be before I watched and took care of my mother in hospice care while she died. My mother was the one that introduced me to horror. But I felt Rob Zombie's took the suspense out of Halloween and just made it with too much gore from the original. The original made it naturally scary with the lighting, the music and the atmosphere.

That was amazing. I have seen many fan films, but yours was one of the best. Everything was great: the sound, the lighting, the acting, and the slow, creepy build-up. It actually captured the first film superbly and I hope to see more.
3:58 that actually gave me a spook. I mean, I saw it coming, but the way the music pounded when the hand came into frame made it so much better!

This was a really great fan made film! Obviously it wasn't a big Hollywood production but I think y'all did the best with what resources you had. Really impressed. There were a lot of creepy parts that made me jump! The opening reminded me of H4 which is one of my faves from the series. Any other upcoming projects? I'm an actor and I'd love to be a part of some of y'all's work.

I think this was very well done! You know, one could critique these salutes to John Carpenter but then one could question that by saying "go and do one better yourself"..... I think this one is one of the better I've seen and I really enjoyed watching it. This one's Michael Myers mask reminds me of the best ever shown in HALLOWEEN 2.

I was hoping Rebecca would be smarter and just keep driving after she hit him haha. All in all though, awesome job and at only a few mins past 50 in length it definitely kept the pace moving. I also loved the underground part of the sanitarium, as it gave me vibes to the opening of Ressurection which was really the best part of that movie haha, the opening 10 mins of it. Good stuff everyone.

This is one of the best fan films of Halloween! I couldn’t get into any of the other ones, it was was well put together & the story & acting was on point. Especially who played Michael Myers!

Best thing about the movie including it being one of the better fan made films is that it does not dwell too much on the backstory of Michael Myers's original Halloween story and plot with his sister Laurie and Dr Loomis. Instead new victims and settings are explored and done very well.

Not bad at all for a fan made film and the person paying The Shape nailed it down very well and got the walk down excellent, this would be a good plot of a Halloween movie now picked up from where Halloween Resurrection left off, ignoring Rob Zombie's remakes, would like to see them revisit places they once were like the Smith's Grove Sanitarium, The Myers property and even Haddonfield Memorial Hospital which would be shut down now too and all places Michael would take shelter in during his waitings. If evil doesn't die, it probably doesn't age either!
