    One thing I really like about this era of lego city is how much less fragmented it was- this set released at the same time as an ambulance and A MAN HAS FAL- I mean, a rescue helicopter. Nowadays city has a lot of huge themes that don't have that much lasting appeal to me, but back in the day you'd always be able to buy ambulances and construction equipment and train stations

    • @strangehermitman7898
      @strangehermitman7898 3 года назад +8

      I totally agree, I feel like people need to have an option to buy all the basics any year. It doesn’t matter if you have another exploration theme with fancy new moulds when somebody can’t buy a rubbish truck or bulldozer (the fundamentals).

  • @masteriangamer
    @masteriangamer 3 года назад +7

    I have the six stud wide ambulance set which came out as part of this same wave in 2006, and it's clear that the hospital's garage was designed to be able to accommodate it. I always love when different sets in a theme are designed to work well with each other!

    Did some research on the 2 names. K Qron was a character in the video game Lego City undercover. Couldnt find any backstoro of P Fliksen, but I did find a minifig with a big moustache be linked to that name, so probably that dude with blue shirt included in the set.

  • @Vadahann
    @Vadahann 3 года назад +8

    I like how they used the height of the set with everything at various levels. The vehicules are quite blocky but it’s not without charms and they are functional. Biggest downside is the lack of interior space in the hospital’s rooms, even only a few more studs more in width would have made quite a difference I thinks.

    I haven't seen one of those baseplates in so long! I would love to see more sets with this kind of depth. We have a lot of sets coming out that are large, sure, but I love how this set is large by having unique sections of the build at varying heights and depths. While this set doesn't have the detail we have today, it feels unique. I would love to see a combination of those qualities.

    Thanks for the review! This is from my "dark ages" and I had never seen it before.
    I feel like it's strange that they use those supports that were commonly found in 70's or 80's space sets. By just looking at the thumbnail those placed the set in 1996 and not 2006 in my mind.
    One of the earliest sets for me was the 6195 Neptune discovey lab and at least I built every possible thing with the base plates, they were the best thing ever.
