Great video , very detailed, i agree with you completely! 😉👍🏼💯 Only thing i added was a motor fan that runs off my battery, with that i run this truck all day on 6s. This truck is my go to every weekend. Thanks Razor
I still need to do some tuning, but after replacing the steering rack that broke, and other parts that broke lol replaced with Redcat parts, I’m bashing around doing backflips etc etc on 6s with no breakages in 3 pacs now 😲😲 Really do enjoy this truck.
The radio and the Dean's connector would be a hard No for me when considering buying this for me. I see having to upgrading alot of things on this rc right out of the box, the Dean's connector would be gone right away so that would void the warranty.
It's not the body it's more of the color scheme for that body. I just got the rival mt10 v2 same body but smaller and the color scheme is way better even though they didn't change much else on it
Despite once again waiting on parts (so far snapped a front lower arm, cracked shock cap on that same corner and bent the pin holding the arm. Also broke the rear upper arms. And the steering rack snapped in half almost immediately. Couple other small things, but point it it just isn’t very durable at all. BUT….my goodness it’s a fun truck! I’ll happily fix and bash again. :) One thing to remember - it’s a chunky, heavy truck. I don’t think it is ever going to handle hard landings / hits on one corner. I think things will either snap or the more flexible Kaiju arms are going to bend TOO much bashing it on 6s unless you are just amazing enough to never jack up a landing or crash lol. Do I recommend it? Nah. Too many things have broken. Yeah. It’s fun as hell. Take your pick! Hahaha Thanks as always for the consistent formatting on reviews and your insight into tuning these well. 👊🏼👊🏼
Yeah Had alot of the same breaks myself great truck fun but less durable then others good price point. Put aluminum hubs on mine with steering rack aluminum and locking servo saver nut with upper turnbuckles and lower kaiju arms seems to be fine now
Awesome review I agree with a lot. I haven’t had a chance to run a sledge yet but in my opinion out of everything I’ve ran I think it’s the best it’s class so far definitely a must have for the collection in my opinion
Spot on review, I plan to upgrade the shocks, love how accurate it drives for a MT. For now, Sweeps Racing road crushers, shocks adjusted +1 all four corners.👍🏾 Racing truck💯 She's still overheating tho🔥 👀
Have watched a lot of your videos recently. Am a subscriber. Would be nice if you had a reference at the end of these videos how the competitor in the particular category that you have reviewed scores. Been trying to go back and forth and cross reference etc.
Love the video, I broke a front arm on 4s pulled the arm right off the hinge pin lol just a fluke landing. Hey where is the info to tune the esc I can’t find it?
do you think one of these would be good with 4S for just having some all terrain fun and LIGHT bashing, when we wanna play with RCs but don't wanna run our race rigs when not at the track? OR, would you recommend a 4S Arrma instead of this truck?
@@ll.7927 My advice to anyone who really likes a machine that isn’t Traxxas and maybe Arrma is to buy a bunch of stuff you might expect to break early on in the product’s life cycle while you can.
Hello, I have been watching your videos for a while and it helps me a lot. Thanks for that! my first comment is a question: I did not find a Hobao hyper MT plus test in your playlist, have you tested it? I think it's an American brand.. (I'm in Europe, Belgium, and I just ordered this model..)
Considering the price in the UK now, these seem like an absolutely brilliant bargain, regardless of the noted concerns. I believe at least some are shipping with a ‘service kit’ as well, including the softer Kaiju arms and such as spares.
From everything I've seen from both trucks they are pretty dang tough. They are good race trucks and light bashers especially for the price compared to a Sledge 😆 IMO the Sledge is way over priced. As you pointed out you could buy 2 of these for the price of a Sledge. That's ridiculous imo. Cool vid 🔥👍✌️
Contemplating picking up a roller I found of this for a really good price and putting the 6s electronics from my E-Revo v1 in it. What are your thoughts on that? Or if there's a better vehicle I should get instead?
Love your videos, I currently own a 3s Granite, a 4s Kraton, and now I am thinking what next? I am looking for a 6s stunt type truck. If you bought a better servo, and put on Outcast shocks, some rpm arms , tekno turnbuckles, and a dumbo remote. Would that solve your issues on this truck? Alternativly I could buy the Outcast EXB rtr for 50% more but seemed underpowered in your video. An upgraded motor would solve that. And maybe a upgraded servo and arm. Which would you choose? I would obviously upgrade as I went but would love to know your opinion.
Unless you're really going big and abusing the hell out of the RC Miss standard Notorious or Outcast is still really tough. You could also consider the Kaiju but keep it on 4s... and don't forget the skeeter!
@@williamperri3437 kaiju on 5s is absolutely perfect and mine has been indestructible over 2 years hard bashing only few broken parts. Added servo horn and motor fan and bearings over the diff cups for strength. It's unstoppable now, highly recommended the kaiju.
Why buy the EXB rtr only to yank the motor? Just buy the roller and slap in a max 5 800kv combo, gear it 39/39, get a $40 Dumbo tx/rx, any 1/5 scale servo you want and bash away. I picked up 2 when they were on sale for $399. The one I've built has less than $850 bucks into it and I wouldn't be disappointed if I'd paid full price for everything.
@@kenmastersmaster yeah I didn’t say it was weak. It’s just built to a lower spec than most 1/8 ESCs. Smaller gauge wires, budget Deans connector, 4mm bullet plugs instead of 6.5mm, cheap switch.
@@RazorRC is it worth $343 plus tax? That's the sale price from associated outlet right now. I certainly wouldn't pay $500 for it. I did notice the Dean's, how can a Dean's run 6s? Isn't 4mm wire enough for 150amps?
@@RazorRC also the mt10 also uses a Dean's and has a lower spec motor and esc and everybody loves that truck even though it's $340.... My granite blx was $260 last week with a much better ESC and motor and ec5 connector.
What a pity it does not share the nuclear bomb proof nature of the MT10 (well, if you change the arms). I wish they had taken the MT10 drawings and push a "scale up 125%" button.
Wth? I know I'm old but when the he'll did TA start buying redcats and rebadging them? That's like buying a caddie and getting a cavalier chassis instead

Loved the look of the 1st generation mt8.

Your right it's not designed to be in the air at all. Turned mine into a flat track racer, excels at that.
Good reviews, some of the best on RUclips.
Wow, thanks!

Id be ditching that body so fast. I always wanted the OG Rival
Yeah, the OG Rival was a looker.
It’s like team associated is purposely making their RCs uglier
It's not the body it's more of the color scheme for that body. I just got the rival mt10 v2 same body but smaller and the color scheme is way better even though they didn't change much else on it
Which is the best bet for all around bashing durability , notorious v5 , skeeter or your choice the traxxas maxx v2

Availability of parts is one thing, long-term availability of parts is another beast all together.
Yeah. Unfortunately, TA doesn't have a good track record with that 😕
100% agree. Bought a hpi wr8 n can’t get a body or tires anywhere hpi is useless for support

I'm on the fence between this MT 8 or the maxx v2. Cant decide which one I want first 😂
Again, great and informative review. In terms of value maybe at the moment the corally Jambo/Dementor are better value for money?

For general bashing around this model or the mt10 in your opinion
I like the MT8, but not as durable.
My servo wouldn't center for crap And the power switch was glitchy, had to cut it off and solder it direct. I'd give electronics 1.
So electronics are weak but you said it's fast and powerful? What is bad about the speed control
