All Things EV - Авто/Мото
Increasing the efficiency of an ICE vehicle tends to increase its cost while increasing the efficiency of an EV tends to reduce its cost.
Legacy auto are still operating in the ICE paradigm where increasing vehicle efficiency is not a way to reduce the cost of the vehicle.
Agreed, many more vehicles should have been included on this list. Good topic. I have been curious about how much a replacement battery would cost. Just got to 100k miles on my Model X.
Around £20k (~$25k) ish. The repair cost is £13k ($16k) with a limited 5 year or 60k mile warranty.
Tesla quote £13k (around $16k) for a battery repair for the 85kWh battery, that's repair, not a new battery. The repair comes with a limited 5 year or 60k mile warranty. Porsche charge more like $40k, Nissan leaf is somewhere around $20k for I think a 30kWh. The numbers here do not seem to be representative of real costs to the customer.
Love this content and banter
Thank you
Why didn’t you tell us the price that a consumer would pay for the battery replacement that would be much more useful
I was astounded by the difference between estimated cost of the battery packs and the retail price of the vehicles. Sure, R&D, manufacturing, sales and profit margins need to be factored into the final price, but even so.
Couldn't agree more with Sean about poor efficiency standards for some of these vehicles.
Good topic.
Thank you!
@@AllThingsEV Thank YOU. Something I often wonder about, some of these are significantly less than I'd have guessed.
Boom x3!
Also looks like they are comparing auto maker cost for pack to retail cost of vehicle, not reasonable compares internal to consumer costs, also life cited as 200K+ when should be 300K+
Interesting that the price pr kWh is roughly 95-140 dollars. Mustang being the cheapest and VW the most expensive.
You should consult your doctor if you have symptoms of stellanitis
Haha
Depends where you go to have them fixed
Too bad they significantly mark up battery replacements.
It's not unusual for companies to mark up replacement parts by 300%. Buy stuff that doesn't need to be repaired and have a great warranties.
