Well, that is the high end for a better and almost all have an 8 year warranty. If I thought that everything I would buy would need a major repair soon, I would never buy anything again, including a used ICE car. It is 99.99% or better that the only thing that would happen to the battery is it would slowly lose capacity. So far that is the case with my 70,000 mile Ford Focus Electric that still runs as good as new with zero maintenance and about $8,000 in fuel and maintenance savings so far. I am very much anticipating buying a used EV, and I will scrutinize it just as I used to do with gas cars. I suppose nobody ever bought a used car for $4,000 and a month later it needed a new $5,000 engine....no, that never happens, huh?

also, many used car buyers live in apartments which have no charging capability, or when offered it's, you know, out side. What a mess from all kind of things, like standing in the rain or snow to charge , hoping there's a stall available (that's not full of standing water), or that kids don't prank you and unplug you or toss the hot plug into a puddle of water(yes it should auto off, but things break) or even having a compatible charger. And forget taking these on long trips. Yes people do it, but it's more than range anxiety when you travel across country in low population areas and you are not in 100% good health (ie if you're not healthy you may not be able to deal with having to use plan B or C like I've seen in car mag articles). Also, have any of you noticed that pretty much all the ICE car companies have trouble keeping oil from leaking from older cars. Oil molecules are a lot larger than electrons, so do you really think your 10 year old EV won't leak electrons (which would be really bad if you're one to drive your truck into a lake to hook up a boat, or you happen to be in a flooded parking lot and need to walk across an electrified pool of water). Just sayin...

A part machined from steel might not change for decades, while electronic parts change by the year and the software changes by the month. Even if you can get the parts, the software won't be compatible. 3rd reason is many EV companies are going bust, so who's gonna make your parts?

Taking car dealers, used car dealers in particular, out of a car sale/purchase equation is a HUGE positive, I would think! As a relatively early Tesla Model 3 adopter, my personal experience is 100% positive. I expected an “early adopter” price drop penalty, but surprisingly, it seems no worse than my previous 6 cylinder diesel SUV. The somewhat prevailing view on this vlog, that “I wouldn’t drive an EV even if I got it for free” is, to my mind, a symptom of collective stupidity driven group think. And yes, this vlogs cohort likes to turn this argument on its head, but really, boys, if you have never owned an EV, your credibility is seriously compromised…
