I'm an Aussie (Adelaide) who lived in Romania for 15 years, some 6 of those years in Brasov. Had you stuck around for a couple more months in Romania you would have had those extreme temperature differences. My warmest day there was some 42 degrees C and my coldest day-time temperature was minus 33 degrees C (yes, I was in the mountains), so a huge temperature difference in one (relatively small) country! Love Romania: the culture, the people, the countryside, the food etc. etc.
Oh my goodness!!! Thats a huge temp difference. We absolutely love Romania, its in our top 3 countries we have visited 🇷🇴❤️ Hope you enjoy our upcoming videos from Sibiu & Timisoara!
Greetings from Romania, A lot of Americans who come to Europe but especially in Eastern Europe think that we are cold and we say in turn that they are fake. I am Romanian and I spent a month in the US to visit my cousin who lives there. For me, the whole experience was very strange, but I will talk strictly about "customer service" because that seems to differentiate us the most. I went to a restaurant in Chicago and a young lady came to take my order and she was all smiles (I say forced/fake because logically she had no reason to smile so much and so strongly). I understand that her manager tells her to smile at the customers, but I understand that that smile is forced because the young lady did not receive any extraordinarily good news from me that would make her smile so strongly, nor did I tell her a good joke. Then in America there are those questions "hello, how are you, how is your day?" I don't understand why strangers ask each other such questions on the street or in a restaurant because even if my answer is "I'm very bad" no one will help you, they just usually ask you "how are you" out of courtesy. So we Romanians and Eastern Europeans in general do not laugh or smile forcefully, but only when there is something we really like or we heard a good joke! So if a waiter in Romania comes and says "hello, what can I serve you with" you tell him what you want then he says "ok" it doesn't mean that he is rude but it means that this is normal for us because we are not at a stand up comedy in a restaurant so that we smile non-stop and we do that only when we have a good reason! There was a recent survey in which it was said why Americans smile more than the rest and many thought it was about money because the US is a rich country but for example Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Luxembourg etc. are equally rich like the US (gdp/capita I mean) and they don't smile that much and the conclusion of the survey was that the US being in the 121st place in the world in terms of safety is far from any European country (Romania is 22 in the world) plus having so many weapons in US people got used to smile forcibly (automatically) to each other to indicate from a distance that they are peaceful and do not represent a danger to the other. That's the thing about US vs Eastern Europe :) ruclips.net/video/XK0lvtW_iak/видео.html
Hi Denis! Wow firstly, thank you so much for watching our video and taking the time to comment. Just to be clear, we are Australian (not American). As mentioned in the vlog, we dont believe there's a right or wrong way when it comes to different country's customer service. We understand, accept and can easily adapt to most scenarios and customs. The differences are interesting to us and we look forward to learning more as we go. Thanks again! ☺️
Thanks guys! Yes Romania is beautiful, in our top 3 favourite countries for sure!👌🏽 We loved watching your first India vlog by the way , looking forward to seeing you explore Mumbai! 🥰

Nice to see tourists from downunder enjoing what Romania has to offer... guys the real nice and interesting Romania is outside the touristic areas... you shouldn't miss that 😮 and it is a romanian giving you this info...
Hi guy's was a lovely thing to watch on a Sunday morning 😊the castles looked fabulous and before you said it in my mind i said that looks like Dracula castle 😂, nice warm weather there for you it's raining here in Surrey UK and tomorrow, I do have to say that i do like tripe and if cooked well it will take on the flavours that it's cooked in i often have for breakfast but it is one of those things that you will like or not and most people it's a not and won't even try it if they know where it comes from, great review as always and stay safe guys, god bless 🙏❤️
Heya Sean 👋 Nice to hear from you while we're here in beautiful Romania - we are still missing the UK very much though! Yes the tripe was interesting to say the least, we did have it again (in our next vlog which is all about traditional Romanian food) and this one was slightly better with the strong garlic butter flavour. Thanks for watching as always Sean! 🥰
@@KristyandSteve I'll look forward to watching that 😊, I simply make sure that it's thoroughly clean and add some garlic and plenty of butter which you mentioned and some cinnamon and nutmeg and slow cook it in the oven for around 9 hours and it's cooked in bulk so i use 1 1/2 kilos of tripe and it melts in your mouth 😊, god bless 🙏 I almost forgot it's cooked in milk and some fresh cream 🍻❤️

@@KristyandSteve You could ask for a single papanas (that's how it is singular, sounds the same as plural mostly, which is what makes it extra confusing), but I am not sure that would be successful, as papanasi are supposed to come in pairs for one portion. 😆

120 lei is expensive in Romania for the amount of food you received actually, lol. Also the reason why there are so few people outside during the day is because most romanians are vampires and we come out only during the night.
Regarding the "tipping culture" you mentioned at the end - in Romania is not mandatory to tip. We do it to show we are happy with the service, in case you considered it above average in some way. People usually leave around 10% or more commonly round it up to the closest whole number multiplier of 3 or 2. For example, if your bill would be 130 lei, you would round it to 150. If it was 95, you round to 100. And so forth, up to you. It's not rude not to tip, it's only weird if you take the coins.
Thank you for visiting! The ''grafitty'' on rope street are actually peoples drawings and writings, of jokes, funny stories, love stories. I always spent a few minutes there to read some when I visit the city.
I had a pen out ready to write something and at last minute thought, I better not contribute to defacing this wall 😳 Probably should have now if its not actually frowned upon by locals haha
