I love how Dave Suzuki goes "It's not that complicated, this is how the Dechristianized sweeps go" then he plays it faster than he does in the actual song.
i'm fairly certain that he said that they tried recording the tracks faster but the album turned out too short so they slowed it down for the recording but always play it at faster speeds during live performances
@Clay Dude I'm pretty sure he does and i do as well, and 99% of solos in metal are trash. But my favorites are mostly king diamond/mf, Death, vital remains solos. It's important for solo to complement the song. Random hard-to-play arpeggios don't make a good solo
Old Carcass albums have some of the best solos on the globe. The legato solo on Carnal Forge alone beats anything Death or Vital Remains have produced.
Dave was the reason I started playing guitar, years later working at guitar center he become one of my clients, he comes to watch my metal band play and crashes our interview after for a photo, and now we are friends that share a beer at shows and cookouts. Ifni would have been able to tell 12 year old me that the guy from a town over that made you start playing guitar and has seen the world would be hanging out with you at the bar slinging cold ones I wouldn't have believed it. Super nice guy, so humble and so down to earth
Through my eyes, Dave Suzuki is a Shawn Lane of extreme music. Multi-instrumental talent to the nth degree. But most importantly you can tell he's being who he was at that very moment.
he's a beautiful, beautiful guitarist. This isn't bullshit generic metal leads. Always intelligent variations, and a gorgeous subtle mixture obscure/melodic. I'm not sure if he's a very very positive guy or a bit of a showoff here though...seems the first.
+Adam Davidson def a real as fuck dude. I talked shop with him on the Icons tour back what seems like forever ago. He was just chilling outside the venue and was more than happy to talk to fans. Was a great moment as a guitarist myself (young at that time also) to pick his mind and get some tips.
Not even that, many bands use leads that are way to obvious and boring. Yes a lot of skill, but poor musicianship. Dave makes songs shine with his melody and solos.
" To slow it down I would , but it"s better to do it on your own , and be more proud of yourself ," -- Smiles -- This man's attitude calls for utmost respect.
I think the solos are put together in a way that really brings out the true metal lead sound. I've been playing arpeggios for awhile and I can't seem to make them sound "metal" but after seeing this I think I need to take some lessons from Dave. Its the perfect blend of melody and insanity
One of my personal top neoclassical guitar players of all time and personally one of my biggest musical influences I feel he is horribly underrated. He puts so much emotion and feeling in his technique and execution. I am a huge fan of his playing with vital remains and what he is doing with churchburn.
This guy is such a good musician. I honestly think he is limited by his owns bands. If composed solo albums, I believe we would have several memorable riffs and solos. Way more than what we have now.
@@jaimeandrespertuznieto4555 yeah but u can't make a "living" doing that. Also it means people know about him, and they shuold since he rules..thats what a big band would entail..so no, its not great making no money being that good at music and no one knowing about u..jeeeeeez
I had the honor to hang with this guy for hours before a show. One of the most damn talented and privileged guitarists ever. I hung with all of Vital. It was awesome. They gave me free signed stuff and everything. Hes my damn guitar inspiration
Dave rules, he's definately the most talented death metal musician to date (and that is a hefty title). Dave is a master of guitar, bass, drums and in my opinion is one of the best death metal screamers. His tortured screams tie in perfectly with Glen Bentons guttural growls on dechristianize and icons of evil.
not finger practices like most of the guitars play as solos nowadays. truly melodic, beautiful. chilling. i get goosebumps everytime i listen to his solos.
Not a death metal fan, but I give the guy props for excelling at both guitar and drums. Dave's got some monster chops on both instruments! He can do neo-classical shred one minute and ultra-fast blast beats the next! I have a hard enough time trying to master one instrument, let alone two! LOL!
I talked to Tony back on Dec. 20th when they played at my town. I was talking to him for a few minutes and he said that Dave quit because he had tons of personal stuff that he had to sort out.
In a time where we’re swamped with footage from every musician, there’s a few little nuggets of Dave playing VR songs on both drums and guitar and they all top most of what’s going on in the genre now imo.
That is actually pretty common. Many people do it because they are more comfortable with those 3 fingers and higher up on the fretboard the frets are much closer together, so there is not much room. Chuck did it quite often.
Not only is his technique super clean, the melodies are actually quite beautiful...a rarity in Death Metal.
That’s the exact same thing I feel. His technique is awesome but the melodies he creates pull at your heart.

Neoclassical melodic death metal

Criminnally underrated.
Have you seen Dave's solos on this video: ruclips.net/video/7gpqTCPS2sY/видео.html
Decisamente...bel nome comunque
I don't think so. People that like this kind of music know how good he is. I think he is definitely underappreciated though.
"its a pretty straightforward sweep you know...just kind of goes like this"
-facemelting solo-
That's where basic music theory comes handy. It's just triads. That's what he means by "straightforward"
@@tommisaaristo7105 He wasnt kidding, it really is straightforward
Back 2024 this shit never gets old..🤘🤘
15 years ago, still fresh to this day! Holy crap I'm getting old
You just have to love how classically influenced his playing is. It really lends to puting emotion into music.
I know this is an old video. But hell, I really have to say, Dave is one freaki'n musician. Super cool and very talented.

Underrated music genius. His skills drumming are outstanding aswell.
He's a musical genius. Excellent guitarist, drummer and vocalist. And let's not forget that he plays bass for Vital Remains in studio.

then it wouldn't be called "solo" you fucking poser

they have different styles, they wouldn't work together.

the best death metal musician ever! he plays guitar with blistering speed, bangs the drums furious power, and cuts through steel with his screams!
This is like the ideal solo tone
UnleashTheBlob for real so sick of guitarists using emgs
Any ideas how I can get a similar tone

Legend ever. Great
He changed my whole prospective with guitar solo's, I never was a big fan of them.. Untill I heard my first Vital Remains song, Icons of Evil \M/

Even in 2022 this video is still amazing!
Not only the original solos are fast and difficult, but he plays them even faster here.
A fking guitar god right here.
This guy is a monster!!!
seriously needs a solo album
Molocke Poleris icons and dechristianize were solo albums... LOL

you're right. I'll buy it.

his soloing is highly influenced by Malmsteen, but he manages to put his own feeling in them, and they sound fucking awesome, well done sir.
this guy has so much talent....... It's such a shame that he doesn't get as much recognition as you would hope other people have.
I came here, holding my guitar, to look how does he play Dechristianize sweeps, then I put it back to the case
have you touched it, since??
I came for the same but i only have a gigbag. I hope you can play it now
Have you learned it? Lol
its a swept inverted d minor chord, then A, A#, C. All are inverted sweeps from the A string up high.
