You gotta be careful around everyone these days. I was walking down the street yesterday and a guy walked towards me and pulled out scissors. I'm sooooo happy I was agile enough to reach into my pocket and pull out a rock. Cus if I had pulled out paper, shit, I would have lost.
owner of a master grade FA Gundam here, I would say that the joint covers are a really cool idea, look good (imho) and dont hinder any movement, Unfortunately one of them got a little too bunched up and it looks like his elbow has a tumor, and taking the arm apart to adjust it is not something my mental health can handle. Also the sub-arms work well enough, but mine keep constantly sliding down into the backpack when they are folded out. they support the weight of the shields, but they connectors get pretty loose over time. also theres not really an inner frame to speak of. tl;dr: good ass looking kit, joint covers are cool, sub arms are okay, get it if its on sale or something
p.s. I also have the mg psycho zaku because im a money spending lunatic, and the pipe covers on that are atrocious and take a lot more effort than they're worth. the part where the leg connects to the waist is really loose too. also it looks badass, but finding a spot ANYWHERE to put it is a struggle, so ultimately I display it with just the base backback with no fuel pods/weapons on a custom stand so it can stand up. tl;dr: even better looking kit, even less practical. get it if you REALLY like the design and can display all of it to justify the 90 dollar price tag
taylor holloway my sub arms would slide down too but i found out that the beam saber holders on the backpack have pegs in them that hold the sub arms up
if ur planning to paint it, make sure u don't use the joint covers yet. it's a b@#$* because you can't complete the initial build without having the joint sleeves. but atleast you won't end up having a bunch of holes in your sleeves. too much work to realign the scrunched up sleeves.
Yeah i own the MG kit of this MS too and i have the exact same problems, the support arms kept sliding back into the backpack, the joint coverings looked great but is so finicky, also the "display stand" that bandai gives us would tumble over even with the slightest touch and the sheet of waterslides is soooo fucking daunting. Awesome kit, awesome gimmicks, finicky as fuck, and no waist swivel and i don't think that it's worth 7000 yen but i still bought it so who cares
TheBlackKnight1o1 I have 4 HG in total ( Barbatos 4th Form, Rx78 Revival, Gundam Red Astray and Blue Astray ) but Man I want a MG soo bad , someone recomended me the Zeta Gundam 2.0, are the MG Strike Freedom and Gundam 00 great?
Geo Izumiya I have an RG 00 Raiser and an HG Barbatos Lupus, but I want to get the HG Psycho Gundam because of Jobby. I don't know how the MG kits are tho
Yknow, i get where jobby's coming from with hating stickers, because colour correcting stickers are overly glossy and do tend to peel off. However, the metalic foils aren't often as bad, since they're almost always placed in grooves and are MEANT to be shiny.
I think the best thing about the Swivel Meme is when you start laughing at how ridiculous it is mid swivel. It's like, we know it's crazy, you know it's crazy, but we're all crazy so it's fine to just lose it.
IDK why but this Gundam reminds me of a Lego I used to have from the Exo-Force series where the machine had a giant detachable backpack. EDIT: I was thinking of the Aero Booster. Thing was so heavy it had a handle.
i actually owned an aero booster xD that was a blast to zoom it around the room. but I've always been a gundam fanatic so... yeah... I was more into the Dendrobium :3 eventually got one due to having a job. :D
Grew up watching Gundam as a kid and still love the thought of robots fighting in space. Wasn't really into the model kits but later became a huge lego fan. Now an experienced builder, I'm in the presses of building a custom Gundam figure. I'll be sure to send pics when its finished. SHUN THE NON-BELIEVER! Love your shows, keep up the good work.
Thunderbolt is the series that gives us MS's with crazy amounts of kit on their backs. FA Gundam and Psycho-Zaku both have massive backpacks, while Atlas has a massive shield and ski thingies. But my favourite is still the 00.
I have both HG, and MG Gundam Thunderbolt, and the MG isn't bad at all, I would actually say that it's a really fun build, just be careful with the joint covers, you need to make sure to have enough of the cover over the joint to allow for movement.
hey jobby did you know they are making a Gundam Thunderbolt movie? its called Bandit Flower and that's all anybody knows. so then, GET HYPED!!!!!!!!!!!
So I built and own the Full Armor MG and as far as my experience the plastic crinkly things are more annoying than actually terrible, but I don't move the model around much because I'm scared they might rip. Also, for some reason this kit was the first kit I've ever had that actually broke on me. The plug for the V fin broke off really quickly and the the connection to the middle chest flap that goes up and down also broke on me. Jobby if you just want a model to look at then this is a good choice, but if you want to constantly change the pose and move it around then I'm not sure if it's the best choice. Of course mine could have just had some shitty pieces or something just make sure you are a bit more careful with the full armor mg (careful with the swivels) :)
The MG F.A.G. has a few big issues, but it otherwise one of my favourite kits. Make sure to read some online instructions first, and I recommend building the arms BEFORE the torso, and connecting the arms into their joints before putting the joints into the chest. The shoulder can break if made improperly. Just take your time, it's a big kit
I own the MG, no real problems with the joint covers. The sub-arms are decently posable and even have a simple toothed mechanism at the base to hold them in position, but on mine they have a tendency to fall inside the backpack while you move them around.
Ultimate Knight quite bad from what I remember you have to crumple the sheets to the point where it connects and not fall off or block and connecting pieces
Yanna Chen yeah my left arm is loose now because I accidnetly put too much straint on the joints when I put that stuff on because I didn't know the stuff around the arm was so important until it was too late.
As a owner of a MG FA, id like to say that the vinyl covers really aren't that bad as long as you take your time with putting them on and use as much of it as possible. mine turned out pretty good.
The joint covers were implemented in an interesting manner, though when I was building, the directions were a bit vague, and due to some of my own issues I ended up tearing one of the sleeves, which in all honesty, looked way better when replaced with a walmart bag. The armor gimmick was also really neat, and it's got some other cool surprises, it's worth having if you don't have to pay for it. Though that's just my pocket change as I've grown to detest Ver.Ka kits.
I had a good time putting together the master grade. The joint covers aren’t as bad as some people have said. It’s definitely worth it to upgrade to the MG kit. 👌
The Joint covers on the mg really weren't that difficult to put on, and the final product makes for one of my favorite kits that I have in my collection!
Jobby has to be the best reviewer of literally anything on RUclips and i've watched many reviewers in both their high and low points and he has to be the best no matter when or what you watched him reviewing. He is the reason i watched Gundam. (Binged Thunderbolt and loved every second in both seasons) And wish to continue watching more of the other series in the show's line up. He is also why i got into building model kits and boy do i love every second of it. I wish i could get Jobby to paint and really blow me away with a kit like the MG Zaku 2. But i'm sure once the cats get a new space. JOBBY SHALL RETURN TO THE KITS WITH A VENGEANCE! I Love Ya Jobby keep up the amazing reviews and thank you for popping up next to optibotimus for that MG Zaku 2 which opened me up to a whole new ravaging SWIVEL ADDICTION.
as an owner of the Ver Ka FA Gundam. the Covers on the Joints literally made me never want to buy another Ver Ka ever again. it was such a pain in the ass to put on that the kit itself took me the ENTIRE DAY to build and most of that time was SPENT ON THE DAMN JOINT COVERS.
I did have a part that ripped when i made the MG Thunderbolt Gundam...but It was a part that I was able to hide under the actual parts. It ended up looking really nice.

This sums up my thoughts on gundam thunderbolt " I think it's time to get all my friends together...alright three, two, one let's jam!" I hope that they make a syco zaku as well just so I can play the song with my display.
The joint covers aren't too bad and the kit's design is fucking beautiful so it does make up for the covers. If you can ever afford it you should get it. The arms work well too
Uhhhh I thought this was a review of the series itself because I wanted to watch it and turns out it was toy review. Turns out I like toy reviews. Well to be honest, it’s all you that makes these videos so great so yeah. I’m not sure where I was going with this, I love you
as a proud owner of the mg version of this model kit, I can say that the joint covers are only a problem is they're applied too tightly. So if you plan to get one, just remember, everything is better when it's tight, except joint covers. So just make sure they're loose.
If you really love a particular Mobile Suit, you owe it to yourself to go Master Grade. Great video brother. I'm interested to see you detail it all out like your other ones. And yeah, Thunderbolt fucking rocks!
Literally binged Thunderbolt today because of this video and at the request of a friend. Season 1 was fucking great! Hearing horror stories about season 2 though

taylor holloway my sub arms would slide down too but i found out that the beam saber holders on the backpack have pegs in them that hold the sub arms up
just so you know the beam saber slots on the side lock the arms in the open position so they don't slide back into the backpack.
if ur planning to paint it, make sure u don't use the joint covers yet. it's a b@#$* because you can't complete the initial build without having the joint sleeves. but atleast you won't end up having a bunch of holes in your sleeves. too much work to realign the scrunched up sleeves.

Though that's just my pocket change as I've grown to detest Ver.Ka kits.

so much for muh UC
BONA VENTURA The OVA did imply a religion of some sort at the end so im not suprised.
dont worry, ill just say this to avoid spoilers: Thunderbolt gonna be one of the most unrealistic UC entry next to unicorn
BONA VENTURA I wouldn't call Unicorn as being unrealistic, although they had magic robots, the show did convey the truth that 'there is no good and evil'. Having magic robots is justified since it is a scifi space opera but what makes it realistic is it shows how absolute power can corrupt.
