Gunpla Engineers: Hey we heard you were designing a new Gundam for an anime movie. Please don’t clutter up the design with too much bullshit, we’ve got to have a kit figured out before the holidays. Thunderbolt Artist: I’ve been drinking Monster and reading Rob Liefield comics for 3 months straight. What if this Gundam had like, a whole Nasa Space Program strapped to its back? He needs at least 4 shields, because the pilot is a jazz drummer. It’ll look like a drumset, Neil Pert’s drumset. This Gundam will play drums for Rush.

This was one of my first Ver.Ka kits. The face is one of the coolest looking out there, but in general I find the kit to be a bit unstable and the parts come out too easily. I'm an experienced GunPla builder, but I screwed up this kit. I broke pieces and the mutli-shield arms array. I broke the elbow joint for the arm that holds the canon, and I ripped a couple of those plastic trash bag sleeves that you put in the legs. Looks good, but a frustrating kit. @@ChrisTian-sd5yq Anything I can get. I have a few HG 1/144, but I prefer the RG models in the 144th scale, and I have loved all 4 MG 1/100s I have put together so far. I am currently saving up for my first PG/PG Unleashed. Picked up a HiRM powered red Astray a couple of days ago.. so I am really wanting to crack that one open ASAP. Pretty much a 1/100 with 1/60 arms/hands.
Glad to know my copy wasn't the only one to suffer from that arm joint breaking. I managed to get it fixed very temporarily though, just good enough for sitting on a shelf in a pose
Funny , I've had this kit unopened since its release, and I finally decided to break it open and start it, and just after doing so you release this video. LOVE this kit so far. Psycho zaku is next:)
see, when i first got this kit a couple years ago, i had the SAME problem with the shoulder joint. i managed to 100% salvage it on my own. i took a piece of the runner, shaved it to be the same size as the peg, drilled a small hole in the center and reinforced it with a thin piece of brass rod, superglued it all back up, and i had a new peg just like that! i don't mess with it much because i still fear it isn't as strong as i want it to be, but it holds up. but i had the EXACT. problem with the shoulder peg. the directions on how to put it in were a little confusing.
I'm pretty sure the stand is in 2 sections is so you can use the stand while it is in standing up mode. you have to adjust the angle of the stand and it'll prop up the gundam while it is standing.
I have this kit, and I just decided to put it on a 1/100 stand instead of the provided one. I accidentally broke the left shoulder joint because I was being an idiot, but other than that, it’s pretty sturdy.
Love the sound of the vinyl covering and also the accessory parts. A good idea to keep the orange missiles together is to have the armor pieces covering them so they won't get lost. I'm still anticipating on what the next Ver. Ka. kit will be.
So, I gotta ask, i just bought this kit as part of my back log and these sleeves that you put over the joints, how easy is that to accomplish? In stoll relatively new to building these guys and I Really don't want to mess this guy up
You did not say all in all enough!! Ruined my drinking game. I should have never said anything on Facebook! Love your reviews by the way. You have come far in the reviewing game sir.
Hi Mecha Gaikotsu I love your videos and and your reviews and thanks to this one I have decided that the mg thunder bolt is the model that I want for my birthday 🎉.
yea for most of the ver.ka kits i'd recommend experience and some tamiya X24 paint (it's pretty much peg grey) to tighten the joints and be able to hold up all it's swag. pretty much a go to for any kit with a unreasonably big gun (looking at you mg sinanju with the rocket launcher attached to the beam rifle, though i got an action base 4/5 the 1/100 one with the pieces to assist him in holding the gun up, even with many many layers of paint he was holding it like it was about to break his wrist, causing the fore arm to have to point up to compensate which just did not look good). and the side to side on those types of stands is horrible yea, the action base 4 and 5's are also kinda dissapointing in that front, only way to center them is hold it in the center and drown the base in some glue to set it in place. it's a shame the action base 1 doesn't support assisted standing up cause if you glue both the pieces to the base plate that stand is solid as a house.
nearing the end of building this and i love it without it's extra armor (as a kit) but i love how it looks with it's extra armor all panel lined/stickered and clearcoated... though it is the first kit where i have HAD to use glue, no idea how you got the skirt flaps to stay on but mine just popped in place and then at the slightest touch shot off >.> without the extra armor it's really solid but with it becomes a bit of a hand grenade. still one of the most bad ass grand daddy gundam variants. also hope i didn't break it's shoulders :P thought i put them in as deep as they'd go, turned em to the bottem which felt a little cruchy and then they i was able to push them in just a bit more....hopefully that's as designed otherwise i may have sheered off some nubs ^^"
The instructions wasn't very clear, so frustrating fixing the broken joint, failed a couple of times until the third attempt. I was contemplating on buying a second kit (or the premium Bandai version) just for salvaging a new joint. But, it's just too costly.
>loose or a hand grenade Looking at you Victory ver Ka and base V2 ver Ka I've been eyeballing this kit since before it came out however there are kits in a similar or slightly more expensive range I'm interested in, like the MG Hi-Nu kits (yes both of them), MG ReZEL Defensor, and the MG Ex-S/S Gundam.
MG Full Armor Gundam Thunderbolt Ver Ka is my extremely close second to MG Nu Ver Ka. When I first got into gunpla I thought the four shields were stupid. I watched Thunderbolt when I had free time and ran to buy it the same day. I built the FA Thunderbolt when I was still a newbie and to be honest I don't think it's that bad! Just time consuming, but it was really cool to build.

nearing the end of building this and i love it without it's extra armor (as a kit) but i love how it looks with it's extra armor all panel lined/stickered and clearcoated... though it is the first kit where i have HAD to use glue, no idea how you got the skirt flaps to stay on but mine just popped in place and then at the slightest touch shot off >.> without the extra armor it's really solid but with it becomes a bit of a hand grenade.
still one of the most bad ass grand daddy gundam variants. also hope i didn't break it's shoulders :P thought i put them in as deep as they'd go, turned em to the bottem which felt a little cruchy and then they i was able to push them in just a bit more....hopefully that's as designed otherwise i may have sheered off some nubs ^^"
Congratulations.

why are the head-mounted guns pointed right into the V-fin????? just noticed that
NOOOO YOU MADE IT AND NOW I CAN’T ASK WHEN PART 2 IS COMING OUT :(
My heart skipped a beat. BRUH PART 2.
BTW, just used your "How to panel line the lazy arse way." while doing Barbatos L Rex. Shit was a life-saver, man. Thanks.
Mines broke, too. I had to glue it 😢 and leave it at my shelf pose up. Damn, looking at it, wanting to play with it sometimes, but can't.
FINALLY YOU FRIKIN DID IT, I BEGGED FOR SO LONG
That 3 years of waiting was not in vain
11:05 nice pun
DAAAAAMMMN! Its finally here!
Oh, and yea... I also broke the shoulder peg/joint on mine too. Dont know why they designed it that way
The instructions wasn't very clear, so frustrating fixing the broken joint, failed a couple of times until the third attempt. I was contemplating on buying a second kit (or the premium Bandai version) just for salvaging a new joint. But, it's just too costly.
Speaking of finishing FUll Armor kits, how bout that Full Armor Unicorn Gundam?
cursed
Already got the kit but since you're reviewing it you got my view and like👌👍🤟🔥
always felt this gundam to be the evil grampa twin XD and thats what makes it look so bad ass. it screams out " im gonna kick your ass, no mercy"
Sounds like its pilot
@@KillerOrca yeah, pretty much!
>loose or a hand grenade
Looking at you Victory ver Ka and base V2 ver Ka
I've been eyeballing this kit since before it came out however there are kits in a similar or slightly more expensive range I'm interested in, like the MG Hi-Nu kits (yes both of them), MG ReZEL Defensor, and the MG Ex-S/S Gundam.
