Thank you so much. Just got a foil pen, yep it was on sale, and wasn't sure how to use it. Watched several videos and your video gave instructions for using a stamp image with the foil. Yes, I'm a happy crafter
can i ask you something... i use my pen with golden and silver foil. With gold everything's fine but with silver foil it doesn't stick very well. I've tried with two brands.
Hi, thank you for sharing this video. I am totally new to Foil Quill Pen and foiling in general. I am thinking of this technique for writing the title on the spine of a book that I have re-bound with hardcover covered by cotton/linen fabric. Do you think this Foil Quill Pen will work on fabric too or just leather/simil leather? Thank you.
It will probably work on fabric, but I don't think it will hold up. Maybe if it was a decorative piece, but for a book spine that will be handled I think it will eventually rub off. The leather seems to hold it really well and it holds up to handling too.
I was hoping to use my cricut marker to print a design and then go in with the quill to mark it in manually. Is the foil too sensitive to add to a circuit mat do you think?
Well this is no good. I just tried this on book cloth and it didn’t work. I tried it on paper and it works really well. The books I’m making are covered with book cloth 😭🥺
@@c.morgan722 no, not at all. I tried 3 different book cloths/fabrics. I waited more then the recommended 5 minutes on the instruction book. Nothing helped. This is only for paper and maybe leather. I’ve seen videos of people using this on leather too. I
@@koalafan1576 I've come up with two other options. One is print the image out on paper (I use this for intricate color prints), then iron Heat n Bond Lite to the back. Peel off the backing and iron on the cover. I was hoping for better, but this looks okay. The other thing is to print out the image on printable heat transfer vinyl and iron it straight onto the cover. My only complaint here is that that part of the book has a shiny look that doesn't match the rest of the cloth cover.
I didn’t think about using without my machine. Thank you. Happy New Year!

Glad I could help!

Do we need to buy a specific brand to use with this pen or can we use any foil that can be used with heat?

@@SarahVanderkooy Thank you. Then I think I might try it on vynil since I can't quite afford leather at this stage.

I wouldn't let the foil touch the mat, it will stick and not come off. But you can absolutely go over the design you just made with your Cricut.

I have used other brands, just make sure it's meant to be used with heat.
Thank u for your videos i just have a question, where can i buy that stamp set plssssss??
Thank you! I've had that stamp set for a while and it doesn't seem to be available anymore. This one is close amzn.to/3NwOyK3
Does this work on any kind of leather or just soft leather?
Does that last, or will it rub off or wash off
It does not rub or peel off. I haven't used this on anything washable.
@@SarahVanderkooy ok ty 😊

I'm so glad you said something! I was thinking about getting this to use on my cloth-covered books. Guess that's not such a good idea.

@@c.morgan722 the other option, since I’ve seen videos with it, is to get a Cricket or similar machine and use vinyl on your book cloth.
