I used the cruise in my 2024 for the first time after completing the break-in mileage (1200 miles) during a 40-mile round trip. It never acted as you mentioned (applying the brake aggressively after the vehicle in front moved over to the adjacent lane). Perhaps that feature has been updated at some point since the 2020 model year.
Hmm interesting. My 2020 did it as well if a car slows down and turns this might hit the brakes. Many other cars I've driven have done it where the forward collision systems activates. Maybe you just haven't been in the exact same circumstance yet
@BrosFOURRSpeed My 2014 Mazda 3S GT with tech package never hit the brakes during that type of scenario. Of course, if a car suddenly entered my lane, it would slow down fairly quickly, but not anything like emergency braking. I do like the fact that the Supra remembers my previous speed setting. And the HUD is a definite step-up from the Mazda's and my 2001 Corvette that I sold to get the Mazda.
When you were talking about how the car automatically brakes if it senses are car in front switching lanes was that happening only while cruise control is active ?
Yes just on cruise control. My old auto Supra did it too. While it is sensing the car in front on cruise using the radar distance pacing. If the car in front is making a lane change and slowing down. Theres a small delay and the Supra will still think it's there for a split second and hit the brakes
