  • The Vance & Hines Twin Slash slip-on exhaust for my 2021 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty was too loud. In this video, I will show you a cheap way to quiet them down just enough so your neighbors won't kill you and keep more money in your pocket.

Glad I found this video. Did the same thing and peeled the fiberglass in half, but I used Saran Wrap like they do with the quiet baffles you can order (burns off). Wrap tighter on the end that leads back into the exhaust, still can be a pain, but no issues and definitely a lot better on the ears at wide open throttle

Yea it was a pain for sure. I think if I did it again I would go that route or use masking tape all the way around so it would just burn off. But a great mod none the less.

Im using the quiet baffles and they help a ton. Still too loud for longer trips on the highway.

Great video. I have the same bike as yours same exhaust. I changed the heat shields to black, swapped in an LED headlamp, installed extended foot pegs and added a saddle bag. This baffle mod and rear suspension upgrade are the two left on my list.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the extended controls. Probably just because I come more standard bikes that have mid controls and I that even tho I am 6 foot 3 it feelt to far out for me. Specially with this seat.
I am on the fence about the LED headlight. I like the light it produced but I am not a fan of the look. The analog style of the stock one feels better. But I have also seen some headline grills that you can throw on over the LED one and they make it look better.

I did the exact same on my Rinehart's but my baffles were so hard to get out i had to take the exhaust off the bike. I probably lost 2 pounds of sweat trying to do it. It did make a difference especially on highways it took that high frequency pitch away. I just hope i dont need to do that again.

Same. It was quite a bit more complicated than I anticipated but if it holds out, I think I will keep them. It really made it sound just right.

Hi. I am having similar issues with the noise on my Scout Bobber. Before I start dismantling my V&H system (looks identical to yours on the outside) could you please confirm if you have a honeycomb gauze in the inside of your muffler pipes (6-8 inches within the muffler) like mine or can you see straight through. Thanks in advance.

Before I wrapped mine, you can see at 10:01 in the video that the only thing in my pipes was the baffles. You can see through them but they have a texture to the inside of them with little half circles in the metal poking down into the baffle tube. All I did was wrap those in fiberglass muffler backing and insert them back into the pipes. They did NOT have a honeycomb pattern to them at all.

Just wondering if your still running this mod? And if so, a review after a few months with it. PS great vid by the way 👍

I am still running it. Just took it out on the latest video for the first ride of the season and so far so good. Have had zero issues and honestly its changed my opinion of the exhaust. I am probably going to keep it for the forseable future because I just love the sound.

How are these baffles going? Where did you get the inserts?

Sorry for the late reply. the actual metal baffles are the standard ones that come with the mufflers. The packing I got off amazon. Just search for "motorcycle fiberglass exhaust mat". I paid like $15-$20 for mine. You can peel it into thinner sheets which is what i had to do to get it in.

Mic is a little quiet when its not facing me. Still getting used to using a shotgun mic.
