Thanks for posting this. Helped guide me on the install. Freakin loud man what a difference . I love it!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for this! The steps were easy to follow, no issues!
Glad it helped!
The best instructions I’ve seen for this install. Thank you so much!
Pleasure, thanks for watching and commenting.
Stunning sound pal! safe ride
Thank you kindly! :)
Thanks, just installed mine and your video helped a lot. Those original exhaust clips were a major pain in the ass to get back on though!
Yeah they deffo make you earn that mod :)
@@SpectrumGeeks 🤣🤣🤣 they sure do
appreciate the video, paper instructions that came with didn't even have a diagram for install.
Pleasure, glad I could help. Ride safe.
I have 2020 scout sixty and had the same issue trying to remove the existing exhaust. Indian must have changed the stock mounting in the past year or so.
You have to remove both of the 8mm bolts because the stock exhaust mounting tabs are now on top of each other with the two bolts going though the upper and lower exhaust
.
Cheers, as with all things. Its easy when you know how :)
What a badass sound!
Totally is, thanks for watching.
Great video. .....but does it pass at the mot station ????
Thats a problem for future Dale :). Hopefully find a Harley / Indian friendly testing station, as its discretion of the tester apparently.
Lock washers on that mount.
Cheers for the tip. Not had issues to date.
How did you make the originals work? I’m killing myself in this heat trying to get them on lol
It was a while ago now, but I do remember it took me a while to get them on. From memory I pulled the original bracket out as much as I could to make it a little wider, then used a rubber mallet and some WD-40 to help get it on, while having the tip of the exhaust on something soft so it didn't get damaged during the persuasion process.
Good luck.
@@SpectrumGeeksalright thank you! I ended up just getting some different exhaust clamps from amazon
Hi. Sorry if I missed this but the sound test of the v and h was that with the baffles in?
No baffles installed.
Thanks for watching.
Did you have to add a tuner?
Nope, no need with just an exhaust on the Indian. If you change the air filter too you do need a tune.
Nice, very nice. 🍻
Do I really need the 5/16 nut driver? I can't find one anywhere where I live. Would it work in a pinch to just use a 5/16 socket and just use the ratchet extensions as a handle?
Should do, the main issue is clearance.
I just used what worked that I had available.
Hi, I installed a Vance and Hines on my bobber as well. Sound is awesome. Mine is loud without the quiet baffles. Do you have the quiet baffles on?
No quiet baffles. I enquired about them, but they dont seem to make much difference. So for now they are stock, will see if it passes the noise test at MOT time.
@@SpectrumGeeks Not a chance unless they are mates of yours. I went through 3 places today to enquire about noise concerns and every garage said it would fail MOT. So I've just ordered the baffles. Plus I get such a headache riding with these, the idle sound is so obnoxiously loud there's no way I feel comfortable riding through a town / housing estate with them.
I rode at 10mph through town with the clutch held in to be as quiet as possible and people were visually angered by the volume of my bike. It's the same bike as yours, and same pipes etc. So if you can actually ride with these with no issues, fair play. Far too loud for me personally, and I love rock/metal and loud shit haha :D
@@josephparry Had them on for a year with no issues / complaints. Please come back and say if the baffles helped. When I enquired about them I was told they don't make that much difference so I didnt bother.
@@SpectrumGeeks That’s really awesome you haven’t had issues, the bike sounds great! Just for where I live (lots of houses) there’s just no way I’m not going to get complaints. Have you ridden near police etc? I’m shocked if you have that nothing happened haha!
Baffles should be here on the weekend, so will let you know, VH claim they drop off 3db. So I’m hoping that cuts the idle down a slice.
@@josephparry Yeah been near Police, etc. The only time I have found it abit too loud, is when I popped into town with building either side, it was abit OTT. However, I don't go that many place, just ride for pleasure, vs purpose if that makes sense.
Hello can you give me the link on where you get that exhaust.thanks
I got mine from www.moorespeedracing.co.uk/
@@SpectrumGeeks thanks buddy
I tried installing these pipes on my bike, the mounting bracket was too short, but I think what's happening is the heat shield on the mufflers interfere with the heat shields on the pipes, when you installed the mufflers did the heat shields slide over the heat shields on the pipes or did they butt up against each other??
Hmmm trying to cast my mind back now.
From memory they slid over.
@@SpectrumGeeks that's what I'm thinking, I will call V&H in an hour, thank you very much!!!
Any suggestions on other exhaust pipes brand that's somewhere between the factory fitted ones and the Vance and Hines slashes? I live in a neighborhood with houses on either side. I don't want to be the most hated man on the street with these ridiculously loud bad boys.
You can cut down the stock pipes and get a nice sound from them.
@@SpectrumGeeks Thank you
Just an unrelated question. I’ve just got back into biking after a 24yr hiatus. A bought myself a lovely ZZR1100 and all I seem to want to do is ride the thing like a madman, it just begs me to rip the throttle open and pin it, bloody nightmare. I really want to enjoy biking again without losing my license or something worse...
I’m thinking about getting a bobber so I don’t feel the need to ride it like a lunatic.
Do these bikes beg the inner demon or are they fun to ride without the need for speed?
Sounds nice by the way.
Cheers
Personally, I don't think it begs to be driven like a demon. I actually forget how much power it has when I blip the throttle actually.
I think it helps that it sounds loud ALL the time, so you don't feel like you need to push on alot to get it to growl. When on my CB1000R I deffo feel the desire to give it the beans more.
Same here, I traded my. Triumph Daytona in for one, I feel so much more relaxed on it as it just wants to ride, not race, although I do sometimes do a bit of “spirited riding”!😆 Best bike purchase I ever made. Love it to bits, just got myself some slip ons, picking them up this weekend!
What was the torque setting you used for the OEM clamps? The V&H ones snapped jus as you said:(
Sorry I didn't do a specific torque setting, just tight enough I thought there was a good seal.
Best of luck with the install.
Thank you so much for this video!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Did u do any tuning afterwards?
Nope. No tuning is required for just a slip on.
I'd be very interested to know the dB reading from 50 feet. The state I live in [Colorado] requires the sound to not exceed 86dB @ 50 feet from the center of the lane of travel.
If the weather is good next week I will get it out and measer from 50 feet and let you know.
@@SpectrumGeeks Hey thanks man really appreciate it :)
@@Sp33dyStallion Sorry for the delay not been able to get out to test. Its 91dB from 50 feet. My drive way is abit echoey, so this may not help but gives you a rough idea.
@@SpectrumGeeks It's all good man. Thank you so much for checking it out for me I really appreciate it :)
I searched for these online and it gets confusing. V&H only gives results for 2017 and earlier models of the Indian scout for these twin slash slip ons. Will they fit the 2020 bobber?
Yup they should do, pretty sure they are valid from 2015 onwards.
did you have to tune or flash the ecu? how's the bike performance now?
No need for a tune or ecu flast for just slips ons. If you have a full system and / or air filter also, then you need a tune really.
Bike performance is great and it sounds like the monster that it is :)
@@SpectrumGeeks right on! If all goes well for me I'm going to be riding away with my 2020 scout next Tuesday, this will be one the first things ordered. Done any other mods?
Nothing else performance wise, its all on my channel. LED headlight, side bag, side mounted number plate, R&G Radiator Guard, smoked my front indicators, new horn.
Just installed mine and you are spot on about those flimsy ring clamps. I started torque at 25ft/lbs and they snapped before that. Great video, thanks!
Edit: I guess from what I’ve seen, it’s a typo that they never fixed and it’s supposed to be 25 inch pounds. A bit too late for me but if you haven’t done the install yet, there ya go.
Thanks for watching. Ride safe.
Your right! Have to use the stock clamps…. How did you get the clamps on i cant figure it out?
@@stevebelfi2978did you ever figure it out? I’m dying in my garage to try and get them on
Next time use the box end and make sure it's a 6 point wrench
Care to clarify what part of the video you are referencing? Thanks
@@SpectrumGeeks the bolt that took a spanner instead of a socket
@@geraldjessup6149 For clarity of others, I assme you mean at 3:42 in the video where I pointed out the location with the open end of the spanner.
Were these the 3in or 4in Round Twin Slash Slip-ons?
3 inch mate
How long did it take you to install it? About an hour or less?
A couple of hours. Most of that was getting the existing pipes off, plus I was videoing.
I think you could probably do it in an hour if all goes well.
Is there a quiet baffle available for these?
Yes there is a quiet baffle available, but apparently it doesnt make a great deal of difference. Part number - MSH981791
Ahhh your little face just before you started it up!!😂😂😂...just how l would be!!
Nice job..sounds awsome m8.
Glad you enjoyed it
How do i get a specific slash cuts exhaust for my 2021 indian scout?
Vance and Hines Part Number 48623 I believe.

Hi I live in Australia and have purchased an Indian Scout 2021 can anyone tell me where I can purchase this exhaust system in Chrome?
Revzilla website. No clue about shipping to your area but that’s where I bought my slash cuts a couple weeks ago
Get in contact with Vance and Hines, they should be able to tell you who your local distributor is.
sounds great
Sure does :)
Gran video gracias por la traducción bro

Anyone help me choose between crushers or V&H? I need an exhaust that isnt obnoxious at idle and can listen to music at highways speed? lol I'm not sure these are it but i love the sound. I have trask slip-on which are way too loud. thanks
They are loud for sure and I cant comment on the crushers. All I can tell you is I still listen to music in my helmet without issues though.
wowww yeahhh !!!!!
Its an epic sound
You skipped step five for the barrel band clamps, no idea where they’re supposed to go tbh.
This is mentioned at 12:32 in the video, no?
Or perhaps I misunderstood your question.
Nice video.. Have you seen it on Motofever one of the best bike accessories selling website in Dubai with reasonable rates and premium quality. Great work!!!
Don’t bother. Just buy cheap tips for $100. They’re both extremely loud and sound identical. Putting Vance and Hines pipes on is the same as having straight pipes. If you want to run neighbor-haters, you can do it much cheaper.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Wow tidy work place😂
Thanks ;)
Im living in France.... With 110 db Im dead
Thats not good. This is not the exhaust for you then :(
Yeah, my #$@#in clamp snapped as soon as tried to torque it up as well. SHAME SHAME SHAME . . (bell) SHAME SHAME (bell)
Crap really, as V&H stuff seems good overall.
I had these on my bike for 2 months then swapped them back to the original exhaust. They are way too loud! My head was buzzing while riding. Not pleasant at all. Be warned before fitting these!
Cheers for sharing your experiences. I am still happy with mine, but it is abit LOUD if driving in a town, but I rarely do this, so fine on the open country roads.
Too much sound.....
Baffles are available, but I hear they dont make that much difference.
@@SpectrumGeeks its the problem.... The baffles dont work
