Bro's - Believe it or not, Roger Hodgson wrote this as a teenager. Their "Goodbye Stranger" and "Give A Little Bit" are outstanding. The whole Breakfast In America album is great. Great reaction!
Roger Hodgson's voice is still pristine live 40 year later. Roger was truly a 20th century poet. Lord is it mine, Hide in your shell, Logical Song all very deep emotional songs.

I'm 63 and have considered this my personal theme song since I was a teen! I swore I would never lose my childlike sense of wonder and curiosity, and I've lived up to that despite 20 years in the Marine Corps and another whole civilian career! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
This song came out when I was 10 years old and they played it on the radio ALL THE TIME!!
Breakfast in America remember it well. They played about five songs from the album constantly on the radio. Great music back then! 🎵🎶🎵 somehow I ended up with three vinyl copies of the album😁😁
Dudeist, WOW! I was 13 and at that time and here in buttfuck Ottawa we had a hangout called Skateway Roller Disco (it was 5 bucks to get in, that was huge back then). God damn your comment made me think of that place for the first time in 40 years. This tune was in heavy rotation there at that time and I remember boppin to this. I even had my own skates so i didn't have to rent. Thanks for reminding me of those great long lost times. Cheers from canada.

I loved watching this - you guys really "get" the lyrics. Take the Long Way Home really should be your next dive into Supertramp. Supertramp often wrote songs about more than love - not that there's anything wrong with love songs, but sometimes I like to hear lyrics about other subjects.
If you want to get your mind blown again from Supertramp i would recommend:
"Goodbye Stranger", "School", "Dreamer", "Take The Long Way Home", "Breakfast In America", "Bloody Well Right" and "It's Raining Again".

Enjoying your picks guys and your comments and enthusiasm. This was one of my favorite groups of all times. Their album " BREAKFAST IN AMERICA" was released in 1979 and sold more than 4 million copies in the US alone and was number 1 on the Billboard charts for 6 weeks. A couple more of their gems worth listening to are, "TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME", "BLOODY WELL RIGHT" AND "SCHOOL".
And now it's time for 'School'. One lf their best. It holds the message you were displaying here George!
The chorus of this song was my son's Senior quote. After all the years of schooling now he's out on his own needing to know what he learned & who he is. Very fitting. Another song with a message is MESSAGE FOR YOUR MIND by Rapin4tay. Check it out!!!

Their arrangements are always so cool! You can listen to these songs several times in a row and hear little "fills" that you missed previously. One of my favorites is; Take The Long Way Home. There is one of the most mournful harmonica solos in this song that I've ever heard! Again, you have to pay attention to what is going on in the background! Well done guys!

Teachers didn't teach us how to dream. How to reach for the stars. I wish I could have been home schooled but then I wouldn't have made all the awesome friends I still have today in my 50s. I wouldn't give that up for anything. I did have a teacher in the 6th grade who turned us onto The Beatles. I wish I could tell him thank you for that. The Logical song came out when I was in the 7th grade! I remember learning the words to it. Supertramp is just an amazing group who's songs will survive the years until the end of time! Great review guys! You really hit the nail on the head with your thoughts. I enjoyed hearing what you both had to say on the topic.

Genius Song, the best song during my Senior year in college. 1979 When a person is in their last year of college just about to graduate it makes many of us wonder are we really ready for what's about to come? If you really like this one, listen to "TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME". Highly recommend.
'Don't Leave Me Now' is an underrated gem from Supertramp. 'Fool's Overture' is another great song, but you do need time - it's nearly 11 minutes long!

Great song and great reaction. However I think it's not so much about school only, but society in general is molding you to make you behave in a specific way, so you become "predictable" and they know exactly how you're going to react in certain situations.

This was one of my favourite songs when it came out, I was about 15 at the time.
When I was a kit and really started to listen to music at 9-10 years old, the first two albums that started my musical journey where Breakfast in America with Supertramp and The Wall with Pink Floyd.
40 years later they are still two of my favorite bands.

Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home
'Gone Hollywood' (from 'Breakfast In America'), and 'Don't Leave Me Now' (from 'Famous Last Words'), which is a rare Supertramp song with an actual lead guitar solo, and a great one that would make even David Gilmour proud, are two great Supertramp songs I know you will enjoy.
Steely Dan “ My Old School”
I don't get why this doesn't get recommended more often, but Supertramp - Child of Vision is their best work period. Almost all the others are straight fire too, but if you react to Child Of Vision I'm gonna lose my mind in a positive way. This song is crazy good.

Need to go back to their earlier stuff - "School" is a classic from their "Crime of the Century" album that you won't soon forget. My favorite song on this album is "Child of Vision."
To you and all your followers that enjoy the typical Supertramp hits. You need to check out their album, "Brother Where You Bound". It is Supertramp further down the road with more and better (in my opinion) music, production and lyrics. You will be amazed at the title song and with the single, "Cannonball" or "Better Days". Heavy message and amazing artistry

You need to listen to some Genesis very soon, I would start with "Dancing With The Moonlight Knight" or "Firth of Fifth" from the album "Selling England By The Pound" you won't be disappointed.
I've said it before and I'll say it here. For anyone who REALLY knows and loves 70's music, to not include their 1974 album (which is top notch from the first note to the last, every song is brilliant) in their top 10 I have to have it on the desert island would be the CRIME OF THE CENTURY.
Earth Wind and Fire ~ ‘That’s the Way of the World’ has a similar message, and would be an awesome reaction. 😎
