I feel like war might just be a little more generous with the timer by using the delay it takes to spawn pizzaface
It might be repurposed code or it might be a grace period given to up anxiety a bit, usually games do stuff like that
the timer in War has just a little bit of leeway on it naturally for whatever reason

It gets weirder: The pizza man is a reference to some weird concept art Mc Pig drew claiming it was from a game from 199X. Supposedly, he (Pizzahead) was the protagonist and Peppino was the villian.
Such game doesn't exist.
The "boss rush" in this game is one of the best victory laps I've ever seen in a game. It's up there with the ending of God Hand giving you both god hands, or DMCV finally unlocking Nero's DT.

Unfortunate that this was a little rushed because of the Red Vox premiere(which ruled), but compulsively watching the real clock simultaneously with the countdown timer in "War!", and especially during the "Falling Tower of Pizza", was pure, palpable tension. That combined with finishing the game EXACTLY on time was an exhilarating and irreplicable experience. I love how the ost track in that last stage just builds and builds, climaxing with that final zany straight race to the exit. Great stuff.

I love how the last obstacle in the final level is a line of the Totino the Pizza Boy cutouts, just like the SAGE demo tutorial’s last obstacle consisting of a line of Totino cut-outs.
Their sole purpose is to give you one last dopamine rush as you smash them

The jumpscare will always be my favorite way of exiting the game

Playing a horror game fully awared of its jumpscare mechanics, Vs. playing a fast paced platformer that suddenly decided to hit you in the face with jumpscares that aren't built up on expectation and calculated tension but genuine mental stress. Yeah.

I wonder if the level with the animatronic jumpscares would've been the same without FNAF's existence. The escape sequence when you literally shoot them with a gun feels like an actual fuck you to how overabundant that the FNAF lore, theories or anything in general was.

That boss rush was insane
watching the tower escape happen live was probably one of my favorite moments of 2023 vinesauce so far. vinny clutching the final boss at like 1 health, escaping at EXACTLY 10:30 PM, and chat spamming the dancing Morshu emote throughout the whole thing because of how much of a banger Bye Bye There! is. it legitimately got me hyped up a little...

It's cathartic how this entire game played out for me.
I watched Vinny's SAGE Demo stream and loved this game ever since. Then I decided to sign up for patreon and keep up witht he updates for years.
And now, it comes full circle as I watch my name scroll up at 59:09 in Vinny's stream.
What an amazing game, and what a stream.
I know many, many people have said it before, but this game does the whole boss rush thing absolutely perfect and cathartic
I know its mostly inspired by Wario, but it felt more like a Sonic game than anything.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I'm impressed! The game was actually extremely accurate in depicting the first great pizzeria rivalry in ancient Italy.
In the Final boss and the escape, vinny and peppino became one, i could feel their itailian rage and anxiety synchronize

Don’t Make A Sound is the best level in a game already chock-full of best levels. I love the dreary sax and Hurry Up synths in its music, the designs of the animatronics being these Fake Peppino-styled Toppins is perfect, and it even communicates its lore through flyers on a wall- just like the OG FNAF! Fun sort of display against the more consumerist-driven pizzerias Peppino’s trying to overthrow, too, the pizza treasure belonging to this level is a nice touch in that regard.
It’s a reference that both respects the source material and twists it into something entirely new and feral. Just like how Pizza Tower has evolved so much from its Wario Land 4 foundations that it’s kinda become its own Wario/Sonic/Jackrabbit hybrid. It identifies as adrenaline.
I love that pressing 1 is a quick key to reach the Oktoberfest jumpscare bit, so convenient
I’m so glad this game exists thank you to the pizza tower maker for this beautiful game.
This game has taught me two things.
1. Don't threat an Italian man's livelihood.
2. Don't push said Italian man to his breaking point.
Seeing kyoobot in the credits was cool, I met them a good while ago in the Don’t Starve fandom. Nice to see them having fun
if you listen closely after vin gets caught you can hear a similar sound as when you die in mgs right before the jingle comes in
I've been waiting for Vinny to play Pizza Tower since the demo in 2018 and he delivered in spades, kinda surreal watching him beat the game. There were so many wacky moments, funny reactions, and an impressive amount of clutch calls (I was gawking at the screen when he 1st tried fake Peppino, absolutely wild). Crossing my fingers for dlc/added content down the road!

By the way, Peppino is a war veteran. You're putting him through the equivalent of a PTSD attack when you play the *WAR* level.
Apparently McPig said that Peppino being a war vet is a scrapped idea and is no longer canon, but most of the fandom has elected to ignore it

I'm so glad he beat the final phase and the crumbling tower first try, it makes it so much more epic
This game is incredible. There's not a single bit of dialogue uttered, and everything is told through an opening sequence, environmental storytelling, and character design. That's a feat that Half-Life perfected 25 years ago. Seeing Peppino echo the player's sentiment about a boss rush is how every boss rush should be done. Also, the soundtrack is incredible.
This entire playthrough I was watching thinking "Please. Can somebody in chat just tell him to stop letting go of sprint whenever he drops down a ledge. You retain momentum by falling down the ledge while in a skid" BUT NOBODY DID! THE WHOLE TIME YOU MONSTERS JUST LET HIM KEEP DOING THAT.

From the first beta to the finale. I loved Vinny’s Wario Land 4 streams to bits and this was even more incredible. So chill and bubbly and vibrant!

I love the boss rush where you do 5x more damage because you're just that pissed off. Very GOATed way to do that.
I was really hoping for a callback to "Its time to chew ass" but sadly it seems even Vinny himself forgot about it.
