Pacemakers & Magnets: Just one point on the pacemakers is that it only pertains to non-MRI compatible pacemakers which is less than 1% of the sleep population. Most people should be fine with magnets in their mask. Consult with your physician before implementing CPAP therapy.
The ResMed AirFit F40 boasts the innovative AdaptiSeal™ cushion, a flexible silicone cushion designed to preserve a secure seal throughout the night, even as patients shift in their sleep. Other notable features include:
A sleek design available in three sizes, offering a broad fit range that accommodates nearly all patients, with a compatibility rate of 98%.
A lightweight short tube equipped with a swivel feature enhances mobility during sleep by reducing tube drag and allowing natural movement.
The mask also features a fully adjustable frame and straps made of soft, flexible fabric, including fabric covers for arm sleeves, enhancing comfort for the wearer.

Was very excited with your useful demo.
Excellent review. I’m really excited about this mask’s release. I have facial hair I don’t want to shave AND a side sleeper. This appears to solve those issues for me.
The full soft silicon cushion will be the way to go moving forward.
I am definitely excited to try it. Side sleeping should be a lot more comfortable without having to press on hard plastic bits.
Thank you! I just got my first CPAP machine.
Looks great! I’d like to try it as I’m a side sleeper.
Got my first CPAP yesterday I chose the Dreamwear Cushion and got an good night's sleep on Day 1. I would like to have a full face option so I may add this one and give it a try. To me softness is vital along with a great seal.
Ooooh. That looks like a good mask for sure!
I currently have the F30 and now I need this mask. I mostly sleep on my side and the flexibility looks like it will work great since I only shave twice a week.
That looks like a good mask! I'm a newbie to CPAP machine. I have the full type of mask. I'm getting used to it. But this one doesn't cover the whole nose, and I like the style of it. I think I would be interested in this one. 😊
This is a fantastic review!! I started CPAP therapy about a year and a half ago using the F20 and was really frustrated with how stiff the mask was and how hard it was to get comfortable with it considering how much I move in my sleep. Moved to the N20 and it works great but I’m getting really tired of using mouth tape. Excited to give this one a try!!
The f20 maks is a failure for me. I tried hard to get it to work, but it is a bad fit.
Cool demo, what’s up with the sizing?
I have a large nose and large head but they only offer the large mask with a medium frame yet they have a medium mask with a large frame…
Makes no sense..
Do you thinking a large mask with a medium frame would fit my 8 inch head?
I’m currently using the AirFit F30, and I’m really excited about this! I’ve used a lot of similarly designed masks from DeamWear Full face to Amara View, even the AirFit F30i, and this mask looks superior to them all. Thanks for the thorough and excellent review.
I could have written this same post. Lol. I'm impatiently waiting.
I’d like to try it out!
Awesome! I game the F30 and this will definitely replace it do to as you said the hard plastic. Thanks
I love it so much. I have it and the F&P solo is coming from AU.
I'm new to CPAP and so far the best option I found was to tape my mouth shut and use a DreamWear Nasal Pillows. But this F40 would be so much better. Can't wait to get this. Please Health Canada, hurry up! 😊
I thought his name was Eric. I've been using the f40 about a 2 months I love it.
Just went on therapy. Used it for first time last night .I think it will work for me. But last night was a struggle. Got about 7 hours with it. Took it off at 4am and finally slept soundly for 3 more hours. I discovered when I took it off at 4am that my nose was stuffed up, and my breathing seemed to labored to continue using it. As I said it seems very good, and I hope I adapt. What should my expectations be? Thanks for the review.
I started on CPAP 2 weeks ago with a hard plastic full face mask and I’ve been miserable. The f40 was recommended to me today and I just ordered it. I think I’m going to like this a lot more. Right now my face is sore from the hard plastic so it hurts to wear my glasses!
The nose pillows are fully silicone too. And they have less straps around your head, so they're less bulky. I am interested in this new mask but not sure I want a full face mask again, I like being able to scratch my face without having to pull a mask off.
Who's watching this first? What do you think of this mask?
I loved your review and have ordered this in the US. One thing I wanted to note, I’ve looked through all the official documentation from ResMed, even their videos, and there seems to be no guidance on what headgear sizes to use, perhaps that’s something that is still in progress at ResMed?
Do you have a US store? Or can you ship to US?
Is it good for side sleepers?.
@@trying3841 No sorry, we are not able to ship outside of Canada due to regulations.
I am a long-term F20 user. I am looking forward to the comparison.
hope you like it,good luck,i went right back to my F20 mask !
We are noticing a pattern as feedback comes in. People who love the F20 seem to dislike the F40. And people who dislike the F20 are very happy with the F40. So that might be your answer right there!
@@thecpapstore Thank you for the information. I like the F20, but I have a problem with it. There is a nerve that crosses my cheekbone. The F20 presses on it. It causes the side of my mouth to go numb. My doctor was trying to diagnose me with Bell's Palsy, but he said it didn't quite match the symptoms. I realized that it was the mask pressing on the nerve.
Our provider does not have the F40 in stock yet. I am going to try an F30 next week and see if that works for me.
I just started using cpap two weeks used a nasal at first for a week and a half just used f20 ,about 3 to 4 hrs in it bothered the top of my nose thinking about getting the f40 .The first few days using I was afraid if I could not use it at all ,but I think am adjusting just Need the right mask.@@thecpapstore
I would try it
Thanks for the review. Just put in an order to see if this mask is an improvement over the F30i for me. While the f30i is fantastic. I tend to run my masks until mechanical failure and the f30i goes about 6-10 months or so before something starts to crack or break. I find I still have to tighten the straps and it is affecting my skin. I wake up looking a bit like an orangutan who has been wearing a face mask with my facial hair. Also picked up a classic full face mask with gel for a backup. I tried some of the dreamwear or f20 to try and save money... the silicone just isn't the same and is awful for trying to get a seal on my face. If my mask even begins to leak. I absolutely can't sleep.
How do you know what size HEADGEAR to get? They have no measurement guides on their website. They only have the mask guides.
The F40 is the best.
It seems to work well with a light beard too. Am I wrong?
I've tried several hybrid mask that have that vertical septal silicone in the nose area and I can't wear those and that's why I use the F&P Evora, but I like the idea of a full silicone soft mask.
when does this come out in the US? are people already using the mask here? or are they just pre ordering it? also would like to see how the small wide cushion works. when it comes to the f30i, i found out im between size small and small-wide cushion. the small doesnt leak but it pinches my nostrils and i dont get enough airflow. the small-wide fits better and i can sctually breathe properly with it but it leaks around my nostrils. so i hope the small wide size has alot of cushion around the nostrils to help prevent leaks. i hope they make a size small cushion as well though just to try it out.
@thecpapstore do you think this would work for someone with facial hair since it is fully silicone?
Does this mask work well with the Raptor Hook for side sleepers?
I will order it as soon as possible. I already have the F30 and the Evora, but none of them really do the job perfectly. This one seems to be THE one to get.😉
What do you not like about the evora? That is what I have but it isnt perfect.
I think the new F40 combine the best of the F30 and the Evora plus complete silicon mask. Don’t like the clip on the Evora and too stiff for side sleeping.
When it will be available in Canada?
Does the “hard” portion of frame that connects to top strap create face marks on side sleepers?
I recently switched from AirFit N20 to a full face mask, and the AirFit F40 is the first one I've tried. It's very comfortable but it seems like the nostril openings are small so part of my nostrils are covered by the silicone. Is it possible to carefully trim the nostril openings to make them larger? BTW, I was fitted with a "small, wide" size of this F40 mask. My sleep guy used the card fitter and said I was in between the small, wide size and (I think) the medium size. I'm wondering if going up to the medium might solve this nostril openings issue. Any thoughts or advice anyone has would be appreciated, thanks!
How is it cleaned in the foam filter???
I would have thought they would come up with something that doesn't use magnets. I had to get rid of my all-time favorite F30i because of the magnets after I got my Pacemaker, but I'm getting along pretty well with the P30i after striking out with the N30i mask. That said, I think ResMed can do better...
How do you select the proper size?
Does it work with the air mini?
How is the seal compared to the F30? My F30i leaked like CRAZY so I had to go back to the F20.
Having such I hard time getting used to the cpap! Does this mask cover your mouth, I’m a mouth breather, but I don’t want anything in my nostrils?
Is the F40 a good mask for a new CPAP user?
Im a Veteran , my RESMED was issued by the VA. Do i contact the VA to get the newest version?
Currently use F20. Just got it today. Instructions say use pillow settings? Ran mask for feels like constant pressure under my nose (air curve ASV) Not sure if I like it
Anybody know when it'll be out in the UK?
Would this work with bpap?
The sizing is weird. Small wide is a bit wide so i have to ajust it sometimes because it slips off center. So i traded one in for a medium which is a bit less wide but it is taller so that doesnt fit either. I really like the softness of the mask, and am going to stay with the small/wide. It came with a standard frame so one day I might get a small frame.
My experience with the f20 mask was a complete failure. The constant leaks, and once the tip of the mask on the bridge of my nose hit a migraine pressure point, and it gave me the worst migraine that I had in years. I like the Res Med 11 cpap machine, and I will definitely look into the f40 mask.
Does it work with heated tube?
Can I get a sample to try out?
sorry cpap newbie here. if i have another brand machine, will this work with it?
Thanks for the hands on review!
I know you showed us but I really couldn't tell. How loud is the sound from the exhalation port? I found the N20 to be extremely loud and air coming out too forceful vs F30. I like the F30 but I liked the frame on the N20 better than the just straps. I plan on trying this to see how much better it is than the F30.
Let me put it this way, the first night I had it on I thought it was too quite. I thought they didn't put an exhaust port on the one I had. Yes its that quite. If your a side sleeper you'll love it.
@@aland680 Thanks for the info! I think I might give it a try.
Do you need a mask liner with this mask?
F30 hard plastic reminds me of the masks from the late 90s
I love how the nose part is on my Ameraview. Its always my go back to. Absolutely hate the head gear the velcro on it is horrible! Thats my only complaint.

I am allergic to silicone! Any covers available? Currently using EVORA FULL FACE MASK with COVER. Bit of leaking. Anyone using this with a cover?
If this is a full face mask why does it recommend 'pillows' setting on resmed 11?
Will they make this with memory foam? I hate silicone masks.
I bought one - leaks around my mouth if I end up on my back no matter how tight I make it. I may try the large cushion. but for now I went back to my P30I. Its easy to take on and off. the small front hose isn't a bother at all. Very quiet, headgear is very comfortable. If Im on my side its great but it wont seal if Im on my back.
Thanks for the comment! May I ask what pressure you run? I think our viewers would find your input helpful
I have the pressure capped at 10.maybe its just the shape of my face not right for the mask. The nose cushion fits fantastic but the leaks are at the corners of my mouth only while on my back. If I up the cushion to large I'm afraid the nose will leak, I have had issue with mouth leaking on the P30I so I've been using moth tape which works well but its a pain in the ass and I was hoping the F40 would be the solution@@thecpapstore
how well does this work for high pressure? my fiance is on 15 for pressure and he seems to be inbetween size m and L for the airfit f20. but both sizes leakes around the bridge of his nose. especislly when he sleeps on his side he also has facial hair.
If this is any help I'm on 14 psi and since owning one I've haven't recorded a leak so far.
The F30 works well for me but the combination of the curved extensions and the fully soft mask look like a genuine step up.
Interested to see what the cost is compared to an F30, as this looks more complex to manufacture. I hope it’s not much more expensive.
155
I might have to give this one a try. My main issue with compliance is that I am on a BiPAP with a 25 pressure. I have yet to find a full face mask that doesn't have leaks. Nasal masks kind of work, but they have their own issues for me.
I have the same settings and my evora never leak (plus i have a huge beard). Still excited about that new Resmed F40 and will try it next.
@@stonedoummaynardjameis yours the evora full face or another one?

I’m interested. Normally have a nose cushion but this looks comfortable. What happened to Eric?
Eric is alive and breathing well with the new mask!
That filter where you breathe, is a big deal. They should have made it so you can disassemble it and clean it inside because with the F20 mask that was a horrible design mistake they made with that filter where they put a sponge inside of the breathing filter and it would get very moldy, nasty and smelly. I hope they fixed that on this new mask. I pulled that nasty thing out with some tweezers and that fixed the problem but I had no idea on how to fix that problem until I saw videos and the comments other people would make on how they pulled that nasty thing out.
Do you think the F40 is better than Evora full face mask? And what is the size cushion on this video?
I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully, someone will chime in.
I'm finding the nose area slides down and causes a gap
Man if they release an F40i i will be sold ten times over
I'm guessing that will be next
Why hose in front? I thought most people preferred overhead hose. I, too, would like to have a choice of this mask without magnets.
But you have the f30i if you want a hose at the top... This mask is what the F30 should have been from beginning. I use the hose at the front and I'm a side and back sleeper... Its never really bothered me
I'm not sure I agree with your statement about "most people" preferring the overhead hose. I know of many people who don't like them. I first started with overhead hose masks (P30i/N30i) because I roll around a lot, and the DME provider suggested it. But when I tried the F20 after realizing I needed to switch to a FFM, I found that because of the 360-degree swivel, it worked just as well using my hose holder - and was MUCH quieter than having the air running down tubes along the side of my head, and I loved the QuietAir elbow. Plus I didn't have that strong stream of air coming out of the hose connection at the top of my head, which would often shoot into my pillow and make a lot of noise. Unfortunately, I didn't like the F20 for other reasons. But because of what I did like about it, I was planning to try the F30 instead when I'm eligible for a new mask next month (I currently use the F30i). But now I'm going to wait for the F40 instead, since it looks like it will be much better.
Would you say the headgear is good for big heads?
It comes in multiple sizes.
it is a failure,i cant stand the piece between nose and the top lip also it is irritable on both sides of my mouth ! i have been testing this mask for about 3 weeks and i cant keep it on more than 20 minutes,i went right back to my F20 mask ! they can keep it !
Thanks for the comment! Personally I can't use the F20 so its good to hear other opinions. I think I am going to make a video about the F40 pitfalls once we get more comments like yours. We appreciate the feedback!
Can you try the f and p solo mask thats new? I want to know if its good on my type of nose which is similar to yours.
IS IT NOISY?
How’s it work with the whiskers
I found it uncomfortable with whiskers.
I have a heart pacemaker and cannot wear masks with magnets. Hope they have a no magnet option.
Depending on the pacemaker, some may be fine with magnet use. Consult your doctor to find out. From what I know, there will not be a 'clip' option in the near future.
I'm sure it has its benefits, but in my experience, that type of nasal portion doesn't fit a wide range of noses. If you have a cute little button nose, it may be fine, but large, wide, thin, etc noses just dont work.
OMG! I didn't know about the F40! I graduated from the F20 full face to the F30 hybrid full face mask a couple years ago. And from the start I couldn't believe the Medium was the largest size. This could be a major game changer for me. Even after a couple year's use, it still bothers me that the silicon just barely covers my mouth, and I have a fairly small mouth. So this is great news.
Try it with 24 pressure. That’s what I use.
24 is close enough to 25 which is what mine is lol. I would like to see results on that.
HOPE ResMed HAS "IMPROVED" THEIR HARNESS STRAP(S)!!! Unfortunately, the straps on ResMed’s Mirage FX and Quatro Air are GARBAGE. With 12+ years CPAP usage, these harness straps need replacing after just six months. Why? Because (1) the loop-side fabric sheds to non-adherence AND (2) the straps lose their modest elasticity. Plus the two Velcro strips are too damn short - sometimes pulls apart when turning over. I’m fed-up and finally seeking alternative head gear.
What did you end up going with? I’m a side sleeper and am considering the F40 or F&P Evora to replace the Quatro Air that I’ve used since day one with my Airsense 10 and 11 CPAP machines.
I wish I could replace my full face cushion every 3 months..my insurance only allows me 1 full face mask per year.
That’s crazy. The life time of a mask is NOT a year. Three months is probably pushing it. I am supplied a mask every month.
Hurts my nose because it slides up about 2-3 hours. But, best option I guess.
Is the nose completely covered? I hope so. I can’t stand the ones with holes that rest under the nose.
No Sorry! this is a hybrid full face! The holes are under the nose. But I do find that the nostrils are completely covered.
@@thecpapstore Whether the nostrils are covered or not will depend upon the placement of the holes.
Humans can have quite a variation in the placement of their nostrils - both side to side and front to back.
All straps are too narrow on all masks..for me its the main discomfort
The f40... The mask the f30 should have been if some idiot didn't decide that everyone can use the same size cushion.
The F40 runs circles around the F30
I’m highly disappointed in this mask , I don’t like anything going into my nostrils and it’s not comfortable in that aspect
F40 is a horrible design
Did it leak for you? If so where? We are trying to get as much feedback from F40 users so we educate our clients before it gets released in Canada. Thanks!
Did not like the nasal around the nose went back to Amara it was a better fit... only used it for one night I could definitely see it leaking not the greatest seal might work better for others
@@joeg9540 Awesome, thanks we will use this information when recommending masks in the future.
It's not really a full face mask though is it. He chose worst case comparisons. And side sleepers absolutely do need hard shell support to keep the mask from falling in on itself as pillows push against the mask.
"Replace your mask every three months" That is such nonsense. I replace my silicon cushions about every three years and even then because of the glue mount to the hard shell. Such a scam.
He's a nice young man and I suspect this sales person doesn't need a CPAP nor does he have the mask challenges that come from a large, broad face. His face is small and narrow even if his nose is broad.
He's a sales person. Accept that.
"YOU FOUND YOUR RUclips IDIOT" and his name is Tristan, says my cardiologist who installed my pacemaker last week . I repeated to him your comments about pacemaker wearers avoiding the magnet clasps on CPAP masks. Your1:33 timeline statement concerning pacemakers is completely false!
AHHHH. No its not. I said “there is some hesitancy with pacemakers". And there IS hesitancy... we get comments 10 times a day saying "I'm hesitant to use magnets" or "I feel better just having clips". Also, Philips just had a recall on magnet strength with most of there masks. As well as ResMed, which had to audit all of their product.
And to top it off, here is a report from the Government of Canada - recalls-rappels.canada.ca/en/alert-recall/magnets-certain-philips-respironics-sleep-therapy-masks-may-cause-serious-injury-some
Since this is a public RUclips Channel, we err on the side of caution, so people double check with there physicians to understand their personal needs.
