    I was new to CPAP two months ago and was given an F30 with a medium cushion (Medicare covered). It didn't take long to swap it out for an F40 with a medium cushion. Things were going pretty well with good AHI scores until last week when things went off the rails. I was experiencing more leaking and the AHI numbers were higher but still good. I contacted Apria who provided the CPAP (Resmd 11) and they had me take a full face selfie that they loaded in to an app that measures your face for the proper size cushion. The result was that I needed a large cushion. I did have one handy and on the first two nights using it, my AHIs were 0.0 and then 0.33 with very low leakage numbers. It made me realize that the proper size cushion is everything when using a CPAP.

    F40 is indeed flexible. Perhaps that's why it leaks so bad when side sleeping. 50 to 80 liters per min!!

    I use the Evora full face and love it. It took 20 years to finally try something that wasn't The Resmed Quatro full face, which is too heavy for my little face, and killed my nose everytime, I now use my mask every night and get a decent night's sleep with it.

    Very comprehensive review of the hybrid options. Thankyou Tristan. I really like using full face mask (Vitera and F20 Airtouch) - comfortable and secure. But they can on occasion bring some redness to the bridge of my nose, so I recently spent a long time trying the F30, F30i and Evora (the F40 is not available in Oz yet …). The Evora would be perfect except the exhalation ports (aka diffuser) are so bad!! (I think your comment re blowing out candles is an understatement :) ). Real deal breaker as I spend some time on my side and they shoot at high pressure (down and to the side) - shame because I liked the fit of the Evora (like the Vitera). I couldn’t get the F30 to work - the front port and hose pulls down resulting in a lifting at the top and thus a poor seal near my nose. I landed on the F30i which was a pleasant surprise - yes there is some diffuser air but not in the same way as the Evora (forward and more dispersed). As you point out there is a little additional noise when wearing the F30i but it is barely noticeable and the top mount more than makes up for that. Everyone is different that is why we have some many choices. Keep up your good work.

    Thank you for this video. I am new to CPAP and I’m getting ready to try a hybrid full face F40 because the pillows were comfortable but not working for me because of air leaks, and side sleeping. My biggest challenge, though, is incredibly dry throat. Adjusted humidity still no luck so I’m now going to try the hybrid full face thinking that maybe dry throat is due to mouth breathing. Ugh! what a process!

    How is the f40 for a stomach / back sleeper?

    Interesting. I have used the ResMed Swift FX nose pillow for years, and at the request of my sleep doctor, he asked me to go to a full face mask. I chose the ResMed f40 because it looks cool (beauty before function), but I actually really like this f40. It took me a while to get used to it, but now, I feel that it's a good choice.

    The Evora - seemed to have promise. I don't know why - but the Evora transmits sound against my cheek bone and it annoys me, so much so that it disturbs my sleep. The F30 is great and the F40 is a great step up.

    I have an F30i after giving up on the F20. As Al due to irritation sores. The 30i is so much more comfortable. I do have a problem with it leaking around the mouth in the morning.

    Hello, I like the reviews. A little off topic here, but how do you prevent so call "strap hair" the almost permanent marks in your hair from the head straps. Any help would be appreciated.

    Something not mentioned about the comfort of the F&P Evora is the sandpaper Velcro at the top of the head strap. Where the adjustment point is, there is a small amount of hard sandpaper feeling Velcro that scrapes my head and caused a sore within a couple of nights. He has a full head of hair and would not notice this, but for my bald head, I need a bandage now. It's also horrible for a side sleeper and I wish my CPAP tech knew better since I told him I was a side sleeper.

      Thank you for your comment! I just checked my Evora and see what you are talking about. Something I would have never have noticed. I will bring this up with F&P staff. Do you have a favorite mask that works well with you? I'll make a video on this topic going over this flaw. Thanks!

    Long time ago - the Amara was my favorite. It has since been set aside. Dreamwear and the "F30" are great masks. I am very hard of hearing - the Evora - generates a sonic vibration that transmits (conducts) sound into my face or bone structure. The Evora - is the only mask I've ever worn that makes this kind of "noise".

    Exactly the comfortability I prefer the r40 but it always leaks over 17 pressure so I got back to the f20, I don't love it but I might try the other mask for high pressure not quite sold yet since it doesn't swivel.

    I was not able to get the Evora full dialed in. I could get it to seal when laying still but if i turned my head it would leak and burp out the side and then if i turned more then leak from the nose up into my eyes. The Amara View Full didn't fit me nose. The F30i was most comfy I've worn so far but i get too much leak at night but i don't feel it except a super dry mouth at night. The Dreamworks Full was awful for me, my lower jaw would slide out at night. The F20 AirFit destroyes the skin in the sides of the bridge of my nose and the F20 AirTouch is rubbing the top of the bridge too much and leaks into my eyes. The Simplus was far worse than the F20 on my nose and just hurt to wear it.

    Is there a mask that feeds from the top that’s suitable for use with a travel cpap machines? Is the F40 available in Canada?

    • @thecpapstore
      @thecpapstore  5 месяцев назад

      The P30i or the F30i are good options. But you will need an adapter if you are using the AirMini. Such as the 'Snugell AirMini Adapter'. Right now, the F40 is not available in Canada.
