I have been using this mask for 5 nights. I absolutely love it accept for one thing. I am having trouble adjusting it, and I just realized why. I have a standard head gear, and I need a small. The mask is the best one I have used. No noise at all!
Thanks for the video. I was on the F30 but had leaking and mask sealing problems where I needed to adjust the straps every few nights which affected the leaks because it was hard to get a good mask seal so I switched to the F40. I honestly think that both are very similar. Except that with the F40 , I feel it's lighter on the face and my leaking improved and it's easier to get a good mask seal and I'm getting better numbers with the F40 as far as leaking and the mask seal. One of the issues with the F40 is that getting the cushion replacements is taking a long time to receive I think because it's a new mask and parts are not that available or out of stock
I use both the F30 and the F40, but my primary mask is still an AirTouch F20 (temper foam). I use the F30 or the F40 to read before falling asleep, then switch over the F20 when I do go to sleep The F30 and the F40 allow me to wear my glasses while using the mask, but I need the full coverage of the F20 when I sleep (I find my sinuses get dried-out if I use the F30 or the F40 for too long -- note, I have had 13 sinus surgeries). It is easier to swap the F20 with the F30 as they use the same elbow to attach the hose -- simply unsnap the hose on the F30 and snap into the F20. The F40 has a new connection to the hose and you have to remove the hose. The soft rubber collar on the hose stretches every time you remove the mask. Sooner or later, it no longer holds on to the mask properly, and the mask falls off every time it gets bumped. I actually prefer the F40, but with one modification... I have a hanging septum, so the F40 teeter-totters on my nose, leaking on one side, then the other. I cut the center membrane in the nose, making one large hole, instead of two holes. The mask has held up for 3 months, so far. I use it for reading almost every night, and sleep with it maybe one night in three. I like the goofy hose thingy on the F40. It is very soft and flexible It allows me to lie closer to my pillow without upsetting the mask. I only wish the hose connection was compatible with the F20. (Don't get me started on the F30i. The air in the tubes on the sides of your face RINGS! My sister-in-law that loves the F30i with her CPAP, but I use a BiPAP. One constant noise you might learn to ignore, but one volume for inhale and then a different for exhale drove me insane.)
How is either mask with beards? I'm presently using the F20 AirTouch with the foam edge and get consistent 100's with my AirSense11. There is no leaks whatsoever. The problem I have with the mask is that the edge of the mask nearly touches my tear ducts in the corners of my eyes. It's very close. The fact that it's perfect with a beard keeps me using it.
I was given an F30 orinally (a few months ago) because I wasn't sure if I was breathing exclusively through my nose and I do have periodic sinus problems. The F30 was okay but I wasn't thrilled with it. On my own I got a P10 nasal pillow mask which I really liked but there was still that possibility of my mouth breathing so I swapped the F30 for an F40 which is definitely a step up. It's reasonably comfortable and my AHI numbers, which were 8/hour on my sleep test usually come in at a bit over 1.0 and lower a lot of the time. The F40 came with the medium cushion but I'm also trying the large one and have a Small Wide cushion on the way so I can determine which one hits the sweet spot between effectiveness and comfort. One that I like about the 30 and 40 is that if I get up for a bathroom break or some water because your mouth is dry I use a bendable straw into the hose mount opening and it works like a charm. Of course it will never be as easy as the P10 but it's very good.
One piece of important information is that if you are switching from an F20 to the F40 you need to switch your mask settings on your machine to pillows...this is due to the flexible mask AND the new additional length of hose.
@homie4235 it changes how the machine delivers pressure. I'm unable to explain in a technical sense, but because there is an additional length of hose, the machine needs to change how it delivers the same amount of pressure.
Great side view of how the mask & headgear should fix. With me, the back strap hits close to my neck where it looks like it needs to go higher - at ear level. (With it near my neck, the mask loosens & tightens as I look up & down. This causes leaks.) I have a standard & need a small.
It comes in Standard, Small, and Large. Most people are standard, and almost every mask kit comes with Standard headgear. So you would probably only get a small or large if you had an issue with the standard.
In other words, you don't get a choice the first time around. They send you the standard, and if it doesn't fit, then you have to buy a different size separately.
@@cardinalflower6959 I think in most cases you will start with a standard unless you are at a place where you can try the mask on and that also has other size headgear in stock if the first mask doesn't fit.
I liked the F30 features, but I could never get the leak below 20 no matter how I adjusted the straps. I switched to the F&P Evora Full. It seals quite well, but it's lacking in every other way. I'm tempted to try the F40.

It should

I think that the headgear style on the F40 might be better with the leak issue you are describing.
Does the extension of the hose affect the pressure setting?
If it is built in to the mask, then it should not affect anything. If you are adding no an aftermarket extension, then it may.
You know if there developing an I version, I much prefer the hose out the top of the head? Looks great
