She is sooo good. Sometimes it bothers me she is not more mainstream and popular, but then again I prefer it to myself and the ones who follow her career, true and loyal to her craft and not a sell out singer.
Probably because she doesn’t write her own material? That’s all I can think of, as an interpreter of songs written by others she is without equal, and incredibly versatile.
Kristofferson has really written some beautiful songs over his long career, hasn't he.? And Joan does this justice! You can't beat the combo of a great song and a great singer.
Always thought of Joan Osborne as a one hit wonder with "One of Us" which was the opening for "Joan of Arcadia". But her version of "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends" is the best version by far. WOW!
She has something in common with Rita: real and genuine emotions that truly tells the sad story of a marriage breaking up. But she brings me an angle that makes her rendition equally compelling. Never really heard of her, yet such terrific country music girl.
Joan..I DJ'd your brother's wedding in Newport a few years back. I have come to value you in ways I did not when I met you. Shadows of Motown was a turning point. Hope all is well with you and your's....Jimmy Botticelli
Ronnie Milsap recorded a great version of this Kristofferson classic. But this is equally as good, in fact it’s absolutely wonderful. The backing vocalist with Joan, Dan Tyminiski, was in the bluegrass group Union Station with Alison Krause.
Of the probably four or five I can think of that do this Kristofferson song (including Kristofferson), she does it the best. And here I didn't know she could sing country songs.
@Xratti This is a Kris Kristofferson song!!! His demo version already is from 1969 or 1970. He also sang a terrific duet version with Rita Coolidge for their last jointing album "Natural Act" (1978)
@jeantuckertulk This isn't a Ronnie Milsap song!!! ... Kris Kristofferson wrote it, recorded a duet version with Rita Coolidge for their last jointing album "Natural Act" (1978), but his demo version already is from 1969 or 1970... and now it's mostly the final song at his concerts - this one or sometimes Why me (Lord)
Joan’s version is wonderful and very heartfelt. She is one of the most versatile singers out there, country, folk, soul, blues and rock, you name it and she will deliver.
The reason for the positive votes is that she does a great job on this song. She is a great singer. Millsap and others do well on it too. Because you didn't like it is no reason to use the term "destroyed."
+bob manning I find Milsap's version to be emotionally flat and rote compared to Osborne's really soulful version. She get's the angst. He sings the lyrics in tune.
It’s a Kris Kristofferson song. Milsap, like many other artists covered it. Joan’s version is superb, sung with true emotion. There is a reason why yours is the only negative comment, you need to take the 💩💩out of your ears.
Joan Osborne absolutely nailed this song.
This is 2023. Never get tired of listening to her singing this song. It's the best rendition. Thank you. ❤
This is my favorite version...love it
Beautiful song. RIP Kris ❤
Joan can sing anything with heart and soul.
I wish she was more mainline, but love her more because she refuses to sell out
She gives me chills when I listen to her voice I adore her talent
She is sooo good. Sometimes it bothers me she is not more mainstream and popular, but then again I prefer it to myself and the ones who follow her career, true and loyal to her craft and not a sell out singer.
She adds more to this song than I have ever heard before...she is wonderful...❤
Another great singer from Kentucky.
Unbelievably talented lady. So many albums of different styles - remarkable!

I am starting to think this woman can sing anything. Why isn't she more popular, it boggles my mind.
deniseg812 love her saw her at the New Orleans jazz fest. Couldn't get enough. Then I got lucky to get in the H.O.B. Packed in like sardines
Probably because she doesn’t write her own material? That’s all I can think of, as an interpreter of songs written by others she is without equal, and incredibly versatile.
a trick: you can watch movies at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies during the lockdown.
@Nikolas Jeffery definitely, been using flixzone} for months myself :D

Always thought of Joan Osborne as a one hit wonder with "One of Us" which was the opening for "Joan of Arcadia". But her version of "Please Don't Tell Me How the Story Ends" is the best version by far. WOW!
S beautiful... Amazing voice and sound!

SUPERB!!!
Really great!!! Love this version of the Kristoffersen-Song!!! Joan is also a great country singer
Beautiful woman, beautiful song...
She has something in common with Rita: real and genuine emotions that truly tells the sad story of a marriage breaking up. But she brings me an angle that makes her rendition equally compelling. Never really heard of her, yet such terrific country music girl.
Beautiful ❤️

Wonderful !
How beautiful.
Kris Kristofferson .. text & Music .. outstanding
I am not a fan of country music, but that was simply beautiful.

Dan Tyminisky - Oh Brother Where Art Thou
The far best version of this wonderful song
I love Dan Taminski..
Great!
I like this version better than all the others...
Exquisite cover of Kristofferson's song.
This gal can sing anything well.
I bet she could really belt out Patsy Cline songs. Joan's voice is right there with Patsy two great singers
Joan..I DJ'd your brother's wedding in Newport a few years back. I have come to value you in ways I did not when I met you. Shadows of Motown was a turning point. Hope all is well with you and your's....Jimmy Botticelli

I don't think any of us really want to know how our story ends.
awesome, great kristoferson song
Very nice, shades of Emmylou Harris at times. I love Joan's work.
Ronnie Milsap recorded a great version of this Kristofferson classic. But this is equally as good, in fact it’s absolutely wonderful. The backing vocalist with Joan, Dan Tyminiski, was in the bluegrass group Union Station with Alison Krause.

"And here I didn't know she could sing country songs."
Seems she can sing anything!
BRAVOM
@nmb1815 It's called Pretty LIttle Stranger, a beautiful country album with originals that hold up against the classics they're paired with.
@Xratti This is a Kris Kristofferson song!!! His demo version already is from 1969 or 1970. He also sang a terrific duet version with Rita Coolidge for their last jointing album "Natural Act" (1978)
Very reminiscent of Emmylou Harris on this. Excellent version of this great song.
beautifull joan and sexy voice ... i love this ...
@jeantuckertulk This isn't a Ronnie Milsap song!!! ... This a Ronnie Milsap song, he made it a big hit, which was written by Kris.
Wish she'd do some Patsy Cline songs.
beautifull joan and sexy voice ... i loved ...
Where thia even?
anyone knows who the pedal steel guitarist is on this one ?
Gerry Byrne Kinvara Galway Irelland Steel man is Tommy White
Kris kristopherson is a genius songwriter
Yowza...
Hey thats!!! uh uh uh the guy that sings with Alison Krauss shoot whats his name!!
FANTASTIC fucking voice!!!!!! OMG
Try broadening your vocabulary pal, then you might not need to use a disgusting expletive as a misguided attempt at praising this ladies talent.
You can tell she listened to Emmy Lou Harris...
Nobody sings this song as good as Ronnie Milsap
I agree with you!!
Joan’s version is wonderful and very heartfelt. She is one of the most versatile singers out there, country, folk, soul, blues and rock, you name it and she will deliver.
She's a wonderful singer but I can see why she isn't a major star she just doesn't have that quality
what is this getting positives? she destroyed a great Millsap song..over-rated!!!!!!!!!
Use a Q-tip.
