Hi I have just this week finished a drawing of a lovely pet dog using FC Polychromos and a white open stock Caran d'Ache Pablo for the highlights. It was the first portrait I did since 1993 and it turned out really well but there's always room for improvement. I do love the Polychromos range of pencils but I am always willing to try different brands. Seeing your collection of very short pencils reminded me of my own old pencils I still have from more than 30 years ago.
Thank you Lisa! Great video! I would love to see more of you using your Albrecht durer's. I have a full set but haven't figured out how to use them yet in a more realistic way. Love the Pablo and polys!
Thanks Alicia. You should have access to all of my in depth videos over on Patreon. The Lennie one is the most easy to follow I think as I broke it down into separate chunks explaining before & after water. Switch to your Polys & Pablos for the top layers then if you wish to.
Hi Kellie, ah no, I have a wholesale account with Faber Castell hence why I am able to buy direct from them. You can purchase open stock from several places at very good prices though
Todo lo que has enseñado produce la envidia de muchos'as pintores que no podemos tener, ya que la economia no nos alcanza,,, Admiro sus obreas, a mí me parecen geniales y aunque no la entiendo boy aprendiendo un poco cadavez. Gracias
I am looking to upgrade my watercolor pencils, however cannot afford to buy several different full sets. What is your recommendation for someone looking for a versatile full set. I do primarily dogs, horses and some wildlife. If there is just a handful of single pencils from a different brand that you feel would round out the collection that would be great to know that as well. Once I get new pencils in I plan to sign up for your patron to really learn more about getting the most out of them :)
Hi Aimee, apologies for the delayed response but I was away on workshops when you posted. It depends on budget. If you can afford the dull set of Museum Aquarelles then go for them but if not then go for the Albrecht Durers & top up the brown shades with a few of the aquarelles
Lisa, where did you get the storage box with draws for pencils? I’ve been looking for one such item for ages. I’ve just come to your site so if it is featured I apologise.
Hi Martin, ah these are handmade by a guy called Rod. He no longer makes this exact design but I have bought his newer ones & they hold even more pencils. Here is his website link, please let him know that I sent you his way www.creations-by-rod.co.uk/
Thank you so much for your valuable color pencils you are using for animal. 🙏

This is quite an old video now and since then I have got the Derwent Lightfast which has added to my collection. Check the cp guide on Patreon too

Hello,
Thank you very much! This helped me a lot! I use prismacolors and I'm willing to buy some polychromos to draw pet portraits.
Thank you 👍🏼
Your box for the pencils is wonderful - did someone make it for you ?
Maria Bell I thought exactly the same thing 😊 I've only ever found plain drawers, can't find any with pencil spacers

Hi, what is your preferred method of sharpening?..do you ever use a sharpener or sanding block?.. cheers
